Birthday:

Likes:
Kajtek loved to be spoiled with attention, eat the occasional table scraps, lay on our fire escape (when he was young and could jump up to the window), going camping with the family, splashing and swimming in lakes or any still cool and fresh water

Pet-Peeves:
unfamiliar/strang dogs, cats, BATHS!, the groomers

Favorite Toy:
He loved this one rubber ball that was covered with a clothlike material to look like a lion, he's chew it up for hours and just chase after it if you threw it, he also loved any and all kinda of stuffed animals that could tear apart

Favorite Food:
table scraps!!! any fresh/cooked meat or wet food we'd treat him to, he'd love you forever!!!

Favorite Walk:
by Greenwood Cemetary (his usual walking route), our Prospect Park trips, going camping with the family in the woods!

Best Tricks:
Kajtek understands commands in Polish, like sit, paw, jump, bark... we just taught him that way since we had him, and my family spoke only Polish in the house.

Arrival Story:
My parents wanted to get a family dog, so we drove out to North Shore. The weather was really horrible that day, rainy and real dreary... We must've spent what felt like hours just looking at different caged puppies when we came across our baby! We just fell in love with him, he was so tiny and playful, we never thought he'd turn out to be as huge as he really was!!

Bio:
We were told he was a Labrador/Spaniel mix at the shelter, but that proved to be wrong when we took him to his first vet visit and was told he was part Newfy. I remember looking up what a Newfoundland looks like and was shocked to see how huge he'd get. He was a bit shy and reserved at first, but soon, he became like my younger brother. Kajtek became a member of the family very quickly. As he grew older, he suffered through artheritis pretty severly. He was getting sick often and very lethargic and depressed like daily. No will to play, or energy to go on his daily walks as he used to have in his younger years. The artheritis pained him so much. All he would do is lay around, unless is was feeding time, or time to go for a walk. With the vet's advise, we decided it would be cruel to have him endure the physical pain much longer. He'll always be loved and missed much!
