Arrival Story:
Our family got Toby when his original family moved and left him behind. My grandmother found him sleeping alone on their porch and gave him to us, where he found a family waiting to spoil him to death. Although we're more accustomed to larger dogs, his cuddly personality and energetic nature won us over.
Bio:
Weighing only five pounds [seven after the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year holidays], Toby resembled a very tiny English Sheepdog -- a perception that was enhanced by his "herding" Lambie during playtime. Toby loved to ride in the truck with the windows down, the command for which was vroomvroom. Despite his size he made an excellent guard dog, barking at anything and everything that dared to disturb the tranquility of our house. Even the leaves. He turned 9 years old on 3/08/05 and died peacefully in his home the following week.

I just called home to find out how things are going. My mother told me Toby died maybe an hour and a half ago. It's strange. I can't say how long ago it was, but some time today I was fixing the bracelet I always wear with Toby and Ripley's names on it. I'd hung Ripley's dog charm angel on it after she died. I thought to myself that Toby's neck is so small I could probably wear his collar as a bracelet and that one day, when he died, I just might for special occasions.
