My Diary
Lady, the SEQUELDecember 31st 2008 4:05 pm[ Leave A Comment ] If you look at photo #1, you'll see it's not the same Lady. Unfortunately, Lady went missing a year ago. We never stopped searching. I don't know if she's dead or has a new home. My heart will ache forever, as she was super special to me. A few months ago, I happened to stop at a gas station I don't normally stop at. I glanced over and saw a dog that looked like Lady. I called out, wishfully thinking... "Lady" and to my surprise she looked at me and raised her ears. She was matted and dirty and starving. She would come up to me but wouldn't let me touch her. I started to think it might be Lady. We finally got her to come into our van, and got her home. I took her to the doggy beauty shop and had her bathed and all that. I inspected her leg and couldn't feel the bumps from the surgery, but I was sure it was her. To date, I still haven't taken her to the vet, as I've been working alot and very busy... but we are sure now based on comparing photos that it's not Lady, but she's very welcome here and very loved already. She sure does act like Lady alot, and looks almost exactly like her!!! She likes the same things Lady did like having her ears rubbed, going bye bye (she flips when I ask her "do ya wanna go bye bye?" :) and she is very smart like Lady. We wonder if it might be one of her pups.. so we don't have Lady back, but we have a really great SEQUEL :)

![]() When daddy brought you and your twin sister Sugar Paws home for the children in the spring of 2000, I was not thrilled because I was afraid of dogs. I was attacked by a dog at the age of 3 and almost died. I was in the hospital for 9 months and had 200 stitches. Because the children loved you so much, I decided to give it a try. We got along fine but we weren't close the first year. I tossed your food outside and filled your water, but I didn't pet you much. I'm sorry now that I missed out on your puppyhood because of my fears. When you were 1 year old, you and your sister Sugar Paws came down with Parvo virus. Sugar Paws died quickly, it was so sad. But you fought it. You laid there looking up at us with those beautiful brown eyes, refusing to look away. Allison and I spoon fed you Gatorade until we could get you to the vet's. You stayed there for 4 days and then came home, still too weak to stand. I remember sitting with you day and night, spoon feeding you everything mashed and partially dissolved. You really liked Gatorade. You would lay there and stare into my eyes, and my heart melted. You needed me and I needed you too. You slowly recovered, and in your healing, my heart and fears were healed also. You became more my dog than the children's and I have doted on you since. We have a very special bond and I cannot thank you enough for helping me overcome my fears and learn to love dogs again. You've been with us now for 6 years and we've been through 3 moves and your two litters of pups. You have proven yourself to be a loyal and loving member of our family! In the spring of this year, 2006, you had been jumping our fence and exploring the world... you had almost gotten hit several times! One day it happened: you got hit by a car, and it was a horrific open fracture. The first vet told us you were too far gone and to put you down. No way!! We found another vet (All Creatures) who have done two surgeries now and you are now walking on that hind leg again, though carefully and slowly. You still have another surgery or two to go, but I'll be right there with you to take care of you! We are a bit sad that the repair isn't taking as well as the vet had hoped, so there is a chance you may have your hind leg amputated. But we'd love you the same if that happened, as long as you are still alive and happy! I Love You Lady Girl!! Mama!! (Debbie)
