Arrival Story:
I remember the day I went to pick-out Jack. It was the beginning of March 2000. I drove myself to Stone Mountain, GA after seeing an ad in the Atlanta Journal for Golden Retriever pups. After driving for what seems like hours, I found the address. I drove down a long driveway to this old house with a rickety barn out back. A nice old lady met me outside and said that all but two of the thirteen pups had been spoken for. They were all still there and wouldn't be ready until next week, but I could come take a look at the two remaining. At first I heard them all yapping at the top of their lungs. And then, there they were, 13 balls of blonde fuzz and fur....all jumping and tumbling after each other. Their Momma stood in the middle of the pandemonium, looking at me like, "PLEASE, take them all, take them ALL!" She looked exhausted from caring and feeding thirteen puppies for the past six weeks. The lady brought out the two that were still up for adoption, each had a collar on with a number, #4 and #13. Well, of course, I was already leaning towards #4, who wants #13? And his name was already picked out. I had wanted a Golden Retriever named Jack for as long as I could remember. So I played with them both for quite some time....how could I choose? They were both so adorable. And then as I went to pick up #4, #13 came and sat right in front of me with this look of contempt on his face like, "How dare you even think of picking him!" So, aloud, I asked him, "What, are you Jack?" And I swear, he got up, walked behind me, through my legs, sat down directly underneath me, looked straight up at me and barked! Well, needless to say, #13 is Jack Nash....luckiest number in the world.

Bio:
Jack is now 6 1/2 years old. For his first 4+ yrs, it was just him and me (his Mom, Amy). Now, we have added to our family. Jack now has a Daddy, Jason, who loves him so very much. And Jack LOVES his Daddy right back. One of his favorite spots is to lay right on top of his Dad's chest in bed. Jack also has a human brother, Taylor, age 7. Taylor and Jack are buddies, although both have an attention span for each other of about 3-4 minutes. Jack has always been a healthy boy. Unfortunately, our luck ran out on Father's Day of this year. Jack was swimming & running on his Nana & Papa's farm when he torn his cruicate ligament in his left leg. Needless to say, I was devastated. I didn't know what to do. After a trip to the Doggie ER, our regular vet, our new vet and with the help of the OrthoDogs message board, we finally have a game plan. Jack is on medications that have helped tremendously with his pain. He is barely limping at all on his leg. However, he still requires TPLO surgery which will take place at the end of July 2006. So that's our story in a nutshell. Jack is most definitely a member of our family. He sleeps with us, eats with us, vacations with us. Our love for him is immeasurable. Just the best damn dog in the world!
