Arrival Story:
We weren't planning on getting another puppy after Kingsley, but my friend was getting a Neapolitan Mastiff and showed us pictures of her puppy and told us what a great guy the breeder was, and since we had always wanted a Neo, I decided to call the breeder and talk to him. It turned out he loved his Neos and they were all show dogs and the last puppy he had left was his baby and he didn't even want to sell her. Thank goodness his wife put her foot down and said 8 indoor Neos were too many! So I bought her! Since she had to ride a plane all the way from Cleveland, OH to Kansas City, KS, she was pretty scared when we got her, but at least she got to ride with her sister!

Bio:
Laika is high-energy one moment, and the next moment we can't get her to move! She always has to be in the same room as at least one of her owners, preferably touching us. She absolutely adores her big brother, and they've definitely formed their own little pack. She loves children and she has never bitten anyone, even playfully as a puppy. When she sees a new person, she likes to bark and act like she's the queen bee, but her little butt (not just her tail!) wags like crazy and the minute she gets petted she's your loyal servant for life. Unfortunately, even though she's 65+ pounds, she still thinks she's 5 pounds and will crawl in our laps and play with everyone/thing accordingly. When her and Kingsley play, she turns into a linebacker, because she knows she can't run as fast as him, so she just waits until he runs past her and then she either runs into his side and knocks him off-course or she grabs his tail and stops him dead in his tracks. Trust me, he's not thrilled about it, but he deals with it.

Horoscopes!

Today I looked up Kingsley and Laika's horoscopes. They fit perfectly...except that they were switched. Kingsley's a Taurus (like me!) and Laika is a Sagittarius. Kingsley's horoscope was this:

Taurus dogs have an easygoing nature and love food.

Your Taurus dog is a huge softie. He is loving and cuddly. Everybody adores his kind nature.
Your Taurus dog is a quiet, loyal, and faithful companion. He does not enjoy exercise, rush and activity. But, he loves lounging around, or a nap at his cozy bed.
Pampering and patting your Taurus dog is mandatory!

Taurus dogs are patient and reliable, special with kids. They want a regular daily routine and feel most comfortable in a secure, peaceful home.

Although unlikely to fight, if sufficiently provoked they never give up. Try not to let this happen.

Your Taurus dog adores food. Therefore, avoid over-feeding him.
Finally, try to understand him; he is not stubborn - he is just lazy!

How funny! First of all, I have to beg Kingsley to take a time-out from playing to eat his food. He doesn't like food at all! Kingsley, quiet? HA! He loves to talk! That, and he makes noise 24/7 knocking stuff over! Lounging around? Are you kidding?! He does take his afternoon nap in his chair, but I have a feeling that's just because Laika takes her nap then and he doesn't have anyone to play with. He is very great with kids, but he does NOT want a peaceful home! He craves action! And the very thought of Kingsley fighting cracks me up. Even when other dogs go after him, he just thinks they're playing so he loves it. He's just our "special" child! And the last part about him being lazy...oh, that's just too funny!!! However, that entire entry is PERFECT for Laika. Absolutely perfect!!! Just like her entry is PERFECT for Kingsley! Here's hers:

Sagittarius
November 23 to December 21

Sagittarius dogs are explorers and hunters.

Your Sagittarius dog will make you smile, whenever you are sad. His amusing character will enlighten your day. He is active, trustworthy, and reliable.

Your dog is happy by nature, loves to play and jump around in the field. He is an outdoor dog that needs plenty of exercise and a lot space to roam off leash! This bundle of energy wants to explore the surroundings, catch rats, or chase birds. A farm would be the perfect environment for him. If you live in a city, provide him plenty of time in the park.

Always take your Sagittarius dog with you on journeys. This ideal travel companion will enhance your trip.

Explorers? Laika hates to leave our side! Kingsley, on the other hand, would love nothing more than to explore! Laika does make me smile whenever I am sad, and she is very trustworthy and reliable, but active...not so much. I have a feeling if Kingsley wasn't around her days would be spend in the chair sleeping. She is most definitely NOT an outdoor dog. She likes to go outside, but she only likes it for ten or so minutes at a time. Then she wants to come inside and flop on the A/C vent. She didn't really like the farm. All the different animals scared her. Kingsley, on the other hand, was born to be a farm dog. Sometimes I feel like we're depriving him by keeping him here. And the only thing Laika likes about walks is showing off to the other neighborhood dogs. I can just hear Cartman saying "Respect my authority!" everytime she sees a dog.

Oh well. At least I got a good laugh out of the horoscopes!!!
