crawling - she learned this one at age 9! Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks?!
When I was looking for a Keeshond to adopt, I drove to Chicago (14 hours roundtrip - twice) and to Fargo/Moorhead (8 hours). I was delighted to finally find Nutmeg in Owatonna, MN. Nutmeg used to be a mom on a puppy mill farm. The Keeshond Rescue bought her at an auction. Nutmeg didn't know how to play and was terrified of people and loud noises. I really delight in seeing her approach strangers now, and do doggy things for fun.
Nutmeg is a Keeshond, which is a breed used to protect barges in the Netherlands. Therefore she makes great use of small spaces - such as our bedroom - to get exercise. She will bounce up in the air, turn 360 degrees, land, and bounce again - until she gets so dizzy that she crashes into something. She also loves to dig, whether it be in the yard, on the carpet, or in her bed. Nutmeg has a heart of gold and is very gentle, affectionate and loves to cuddle. She's also almost blind and tends to run into things.
