Leave a bone for Audrey Hepburn

Audacious Audrey, Baby Wolfie, Mop Head, Muffin Head, Pom Pom Paws, Hey-Puppy-Give-That-Back!

Quick Bio:

She loves to steal stuff, tip toe out of the room like the Pink Panther then grind the stolen goods into small shreds. She's particularly fond of wooden spoons, hardcover books, and take out food containers. She likes to perch on the back of sofas.

When someone has something she wants she becomes insanely frustrated and makes pitiful hound 'talking' sounds: ow-rwow-roo-ROOO-woo-woof!

Favorite Toy:
The item she's most recently stolen, her auntie's poor tail, her crackly canvas 'Big Mean Kitty' toy.

Favorite Food:
Stolen food would be at the top of the list, but she pretty much eats anything, and has sampled dirt, rocks and worse.

Favorite Walk:
"Anywhere! Hurray, we're going outside--I'm diliriously happy!" She's a puppy; every moment of her day is party time.

Arrival Story:
When I heard that my Afghan Hound, Greta Garbo, had become an auntie, I thought that a family reunion would be fun. Greta's sister Trixie had a litter sired by Greta's daddy, Ricky. And Greta's mummy had a litter of 12 also sired by Daddy of the Year Ricky. Since the puppies were too young to take home, I though that it would be "safe" to go visit, and see if maybe Greta and I took a fancy to a little boy. Maybe I'd think it over and return to Vermont later to bring home a companion for us. It was the most spectacular reunion. I will always treasure the photo I took of Greta and Ricky with identical regal profiles and expressions. Meanwhile in the background, scampering around, was Miss Naughty. Herself was the pick of the litter of another of Greta's siblings, Kashi, sired by the aforementioned Daddy of the Year, Ricky. She had not been placed in a suitable home and at 13 weeks was transitioning from adorable puppy to gangly middle school ugly duckling. I watched as she perched mountain goat style on the back of the couch, and pounced on Ricky, chomping on his tail. I came to Vermont expecting to fall in love with a darling baby, but a preteen delinquent stole my heart.

Audrey is down to earth and earthy. She's ready for whatever life has to offer any time of day or night. She's not fussy. Walk? Great! Let's go! Food's not an issue. She'll happily chomp on video cassettes or kibble. She's really intense and gives a 101% effort no matter what: obedience, barking at strangers or going berserk after a bath. The day Greta and I brought her home John, her breeder, apologized that she was already named Audrey. (He's had her under foot for several weeks and couldn't keep calling her #5.) "No problem," I answered, "Greta Garbo and Audrey Hepburn!" I still remember Audrey staring in awe and wonderment at an airplane when I first brought her home. I guess Benson, Vermont, isn't under any flight patterns. Now, whenever I hear a plane coming I say, "Audrey, plane!" and she looks up, scanning the sky until she spots it. Smart puppy. Although she's still a puppy, Audrey has outgrown the awkward phase, and become a beautiful swan. I had not updated Audrey's page because she is a puppy at heart. At five years of age it was time! The last photo shows her as a beautiful big girl. I love her very much.

Hello! There's a new video of me here:

In the first part Greta and I are watching a dog DVD with mice and birds. At first I cannot figure out where the critter sounds are coming from. I climb up on the seat to mom's vanity and look outside, then I look inside the vanity. Maybe there's mice in the make-up? Then I hop up on the bed, blocking Greta's view and finally I bark at the TV.

In the second part I dry myself off after bath time. I basically go completely insane. It is very funny and you must watch it!

Out in the Rain

It is time to go out. It is not raining right now, but you can bet your paws that as soon as we get a few blocks away the skies will open and dump buckets of water on us. Then it will take centuries for us to dry out our fur. I have a special Puppy Dance. I fling myself on the Dog couch, which has pillows and fleeces. I roll around like a lunatic. Then I hop onto the bed. It has a fleece and a big quilt and six pillows. I roll around like a lunatic and knock all that stuff on the ground. Then I stand up and shake. It is a very effective way to dry off one’s fur.

I can rotate my snuffler around in a circle. People cannot do that. I can smell all sorts of interesting things that happened many days ago and fascinating details about such events that would put “Access Hollywood” to shame. They should hire me. I am glamorous and have a nose for the news.
