Arrival Story: Kiara was six months old when we got her. She had never been really socialized, lived outside in a kennel at breeders home. (she was going to be used as a mother doggy when she got older) She was scared to death of everything from doors, cars, noises, and any new situation. She walked in a hunkered down low position and was very humble. Within a few days she was walking taller and becoming more and more outgoing. She is still afraid of wind and storms and some new situations make her want to bolt while walking on leash but she has come so far. We think she must of experienced a storm as a puppy outside in the kennel she lived in:( She is now completely spoiled rotten and is a very large lap dog that loves people and snuggles.
Bio: She was named Queen Kiara from the Lion King II by the breeders and that is her AKC registered name; so we kept the name since she was already six months old when we met. Her name was all she seemed to really know about other than outside life and nature; bugs, butterflies, and mud.
Forums Motto:
Well this weekend started off wth a lot of sadness. Our cat Boots is very old... (not sure exactly of his age because when he came to live here the vet estimated him between 3 and 5) He stopped eating on Friday and was sleeping non stop...no pain... just sleeping and hiding as if he were trying to go off by himself to die. Mom cried a lot Friday night and did not think he would make it through the night. This morning he perked up and ate some tiki cat food...although he has made his new sleeping spot under the computer desk in dads puter room. Mom thinks he is really ready to go the bridge but since he is not crying or showing any signs of pain she is planning to just let nature take place and see what each day holds.
Mom prays that he will just go peacefully in his sleep when it is time. He might just fool mom and dad again...we had this scare twice now and its like he gets a new life:)
Last night I made dad let me go into the puter room to see him. I just layed down and looked at him. He raised his head and we touched noses. Even Cyrus has been showing interest in him and lays outside the puter room on the floor looking into the room to see if he is ok...they do not get along...Cyrus refers to Boots as the ole' Cuss. Boots scares Cyrus and Cyrus is not much of a cat lover. I love Boots very much.
I think Boots will go to the bridge when he is ready...and if he gets in pain my mom will know that she will have to take him to the vet to help him to the bridge...I pray that he goes peacefully right here at home under the puter desk...that way he can be with all of us when he decides it is time to journey. I keep telling him not to be afaid that it will be ok. He looks at me and tells me he is not afraid and that he will make the journey when he is ready:)
Kaylee is wearing mom out. She forgot just how much energy we doggies have until we reach the age between 2 and 3. She and dad were talking during dinner tonight and she remembered how much harder it was when Cyrus and I were young like Kaylee. Cyrus chewed the skirt off the ottoman while mom was on the computer and she thought he was chewing a bone...bol... I chewed an entire door jam casing after she thought I was through with the chewing stage!
Kaylee is very smart and observant. Mom says she is so inquisitive and takes the shortest naps she has ever seen...bol. She gets up each day at
5: 45 am!!!!!! She has learned "leave" when we are playing outside; with stuff she should not be eating so that is an improvement in just five days:) She steals my bones or chew toys right out of my mouth even if I give her a momma scolding with my loud deep growl and show her my teeth... she just doesn't get it. Mom said it is because she was probably taken away from her mommy before she taught her manners. Mom said we have to have patience with her and work on her manners:) She bites ankles and tails too....but mom quickly reminded me that I use to do the same thing to Cyrus;) I love her but she has exhausted the NC Pack...the things we forget about puppies.... sweet puppy hood:)
....and the wedding was beautiful:) Mom posted a slide show of some of the shots dad took before the wedding, after the ceremony, and some reception shots. We thought we would share with everyone. Once mom gets pix from photographer she will share more:)
