Her best friend, Carma!
Little nippy dogs.
Food... all of it... anything that's edible.
To see Buddy, the neighbor beagle.
silly human... tricks are for kids.
She beonged to our neighbors that didn't take care of her. They had her chained to a tree with no food and no water for days at a time, she stayed chained to the tree in stormy weather with no shelter. At night the few times she did have food a family of raccoons (mamma and 4 babies) would surround her and fight her for her food. We would hear her yelp and whining as the 'coons would scratch and bite at her. So, my mom and I would go outside and throw pieces of wood at the 'coons til they ran away. We would sneak over in the middle of the night and give her food and water. Often she would snap her chain off her collar and runloose through the neighborhood until one day we invited her in our fence to see our other dogs (3 at the time- Cephus, Baby Girl, and Carmalita) and her and Carma became buddies since they were about the same age- as I had just gotten Carma as a Christmas gift. Finally we pretty much just took her in to be ours. When the neighbors finally seen her in our yard playing with the other dogs they told us if we could take better care of her, and if we wanted her, to just keep her.
About a week after our neighbors told us we could keep her the braty kids a ew houses down opened our fence and let her out intentionally and she was picked up by the police, and taken to the pound. We called around looking for her and asked all the neighbors and neighborhood kids fif they had seen Sheba (Everyone knew who she was, because they would all feed her when she made her rounds through the neighborhood) finally Cody, the little girl a few houses up the street said she had seen Sheba at the end of the next street over with a police officer who had put her in the back of his squad car. So we called the police station and sure enough there had been a dog picked up in our neighborhood. We went to the pound and sure enough, it was Sheba. Happy to see us tail no wagging instead of the previous huddleing in the corner. We brought her home, was charged with animal cruelty because she had fleas and charged with neglect because she was underweight, then also fined for letting her run loose. (I'm not sure how any of those three were our fault at all, but... that's what we got) Well, after we got her home she wasn't herself... at all. She was slow, slugish, and acted tired all the time. (She was a very active puppy when we took her from the neighbors) Well, we took her tpo the vets when she started to not even want to go outside, and the days of the vet appointment she started throwing up. The results: Parvo. She had contracted parvo at the pound. Seeing as this is a doggie website I'm sure most of you know how parvo will effect a dog. She survived. The animal controll officer stopped by to visit her many times during the time if her sickness. She had to stay at my grandparents' house in their garage while she was still contagious so as not to get my other 3 dogs sick. She is now still a happy health dog representing for Zero Tolerance.
