--RIP 2.21.07 ---My mother had recieved a t-shirt from a local adoption center that was too small. We went to exchange it. There kirk was, in all his gangliness, lying in a big pen on the floor. We casually inquired into his status since he was so unusual looking. He was going to be put down the next day. We left him behind. Hours later, realizing the mistake we made, we raced back to the shelter to adopt him. Another couple was already filling out the paperwork. We begged the adoption worker to "claim" that we had been there first. She did. 15 years later, I still think that was the luckiest day of my life. He died last Wednesday, February 21st. I ALMOST CAN'T BEAR THE PAIN OF LOSING HIM, I MISS HIM SO.
