Guess what! Im the featured pet on lindeline designs website. www.lindenlinedesigns.com
Mom bought the tie I wore from halloween from them, she's bought lots of stuff from them. They are one of her favorite pet fashion stores. Just today mom ordered a holliday collar for my cat sister Baby, she wishes she could buy more but she has to keep the budget in line. Especially since my yearly vet visit today was 300 dollars for titers, bloodwork, heart worm, and physical. Of course Im totally worth it, Im priceless!

I Won!!!!

Guess what? Today I one a prize in a halloween pet parade costume contest. Mom and Dad took me Zira, and Bob to the Canis Minor pet parade in Pavonia Newport. Mom and Dad's friend Joyce and her boyfriend and their dog Nacho came too. I wore a wig from wiggles dog wigs and a tie from linden line designs. Mom said I was an office worker but lots of people thought I was supposed to be Donald Trump, my wig was a bit messed up. Anyway at the end everyone voted for a winner and I won, people wrote in toupee for my costume. We got a 25 dollar gift certificate from canis minor, the store where mom and dad buy all our food, and toys, and chewies. I got a chewie and a talking pumpkin that says trick or treat with my gift certificate.

I went on a great new urban dog walk Saturday with Bob and mom and dad while Zira wa sgetting groomed at canis minor. Unfortunately mom left the camera at home we walked along the waterfront walkway from Pavonia new port in jersey city into hoboken. You can see the nyc skyline and there are nice wide pathways and lots of benches. Here is a link http://www.nj.com/hobokennow/index.ssf/2009/09/its_open_wate rfront_walkway_fr.html

Im a big fan of Hoboken (they have some of my favorite dog stores) so I loved the walk. I hope we go again soon

Today Ping and I went with mom and dad to the Because your dog is worth it too day at the L'oreal factory. Its a BIG dog event and there were tons of dogs there. We got lots of free samples and mom and dad bought us a bacon bread stick treat and a shirt for Bob that says mommy's boy. We gave money to the grey hound rescue and the midatlantic bulldog rescue. It was very hot though so we could not stay long.

My 7th birthday

Mom still remembers everything about picking me out from the shelter 7 years ago. It was early October and she and Dad had just moved out of Dad's families house and into their first apartment with Tubby and the two cats Baby and Scooter. Mom had been thinking about getting a newfoundland or bullmastiff from a breeder, but money was very tight as she was still in graduate school. So mom went online and saw a very cute puppy at the Staten Island animal shelter and she and Dad took the bus down there. When they got to the shelter the puppy was very small, mon and dad wanted a big dog, and another family was already looking at it. The shelter worker showed them me and I ambled out of the cage too cute for words. Both mom and dad wanted me immediately and filled out the paper work. I had to stay at the shelter to the next day so I could go to the vet to be neutered. Mom and Dad got to the vet that fixed me the next day and they opened the door of the exam room and right away I ran into the waiting room to greet them. I went home and was playing wiht my new brother Tubby right away. That night mom and dad came up with my new name, Norbert, after Hagrid's pet dragon in the first Harry Potter book.

I have been the most wonderful dog imaginable ever since that day, even when I did something naughty like eat a couch or chew up DVDs you could never get mad at me because I was so cute and sweet. I stopped doing that awhile ago and now Im a mature and fun loving dog, that very rarely gets in trouble.

Mom wanted to give me a perfect birthday since Im so wonderful so she and Dad took me to do all my favorite things. I went to hte dog park twice early in the morning when it wasnt too crowded, I dont like there to be more then a few other dogs around. On Friday night I went to hoboken wiht mom and dad and Tubby and we got vanilla ice cream. Then on saturday I went to the Watchtung reservation wiht Ping and Bob and we hiked on the lake suprise trail. We met a lot of other dogs including a family with 4 rescue dogs, one of the dogs, Riley, took a real liking to me and tried to follow me home. Later on saturday mom filled the baby pool up for Bob, I dont like water, and we played ball and chase. I got to eat a lot of good things too, a specail flag birthday cake since it was the 4th of july (mom makes the cake for me every year) its vanilla with cream cheese frosting and very good for people too, and I got hot dogs.

I got lots of presents of course. A new leash and collar, which is of course more for mom then me, she likes me to look as good as possible. I got fun stuff too a dino cuz, that my brohter Bob kind of took over, and a talking tough guys toy. All in all it was a great birthday worthy of great guy like me.

My birthday is almost here, or my guestimated birthday. One week to the big 4th of july b-day party for me. Mom has gotten me a couple prezzies but I cant look at them. My biggest present was my rally o class, which Im enjoying very much. The trainer is very nice and Im having fun learning come fronts and right turns and left turns, though sometimes I get distracted and want to play.

Im lucky mom has a big week planned for me saturday I went to the doggie ice cream social for canis minor our pet food store and Zira and Bob came with me and thy didnt want their dog ice creams the silly dorks so I got to eat all 3! I meat a mutt who was 15 years old too and mom says I have to leave at least that long. Then on sunday I got groomed, phooey! It wasnt that bad though.

Today mom took me to the dog park because she is off from work and she promised to take me tomorow and friday too since she is also off those days. Im also going to get to go on a hike and to eat ice cream with Bob, Bob likes real ice cream just not the dog stuff. I like both.

Last night was my first rally class. Mom and dad got kind of lost on the way there but it was fun once we got there. Mom really liked my trainer and the class was fun, not like the awful class my brother Bob took. I am working on recall, fast downs, and lose leash walking and I get trained with my cuz ball.

Mom and Dad took me and Norbert to the beach on Friday. I am not a big water dog, I can barely put in one paw, bu tI like hiking on the beach. I especially love looking at the cranes.

Mom is always so amazed by what a perfect dog I am. She has been trying to convince Dad to let her pay for genetic testing so she can unravel the mystery of my orgins, but he thinks its silly. Probably so, but I am just hte most perfect dog. Perfect size, perfect temperament, perfect behavior. Just perfect!

On saturday mom and dad took me to the Manasquan Resevoir to walk with the Monmouth County Pitbull meetup. It was lots of fun. The dogs were all nice and there was even an english bulldog, Duckett, who looked just like my brother Bob. I had a great time on walk. Its a good group of people and dogs who are showing what wonderful, loving dogs pitties really are.

Shelter makover

Mom is very excited that the shelter she sometimes volunteers at, liberty humane society, is winning the zoo too million dollar shelter makover contest. Its a nice shelter and works hard for the many homeless pets of jersey city but its small. A makeover would really help them out. Having such a big family makes it hard for mom to go the shelter to often but she tries to go by when she can and she is working hard posting pictures of us on zoo too so that LHS will win.

My thanksgiving wish is for LHS to win the contest

6 years ago my mom and dad made the best impulse decision ever when they decided to adopt me from the CACC on Staten Island. They had been planning on a big dog for a while and had contacted several Mastiff breeders. Then mom saw a cute little brindle dog on the CACC website and decided to go look. Well a dog lover cant go to a kill shelter to look, thats for sure. The dog mom had seen on line wasnt really her type and a nice family was already checking it out. I had never been on the website though. I was 3 months old and had been adopted once already and returned! How could someone return me! Dad said we definitely had to take me home and mom agreed. It realy probably wasnt the best time to get a dog since mom was in grad school and student teaching. Mom and dad loved me though and they made it work. Thank goodness the people at the shelter didnt stop mom and dad from taking me becuase mom was in school because I got the best home ever! I went to puppy training classes and every morning I raced around the brooklyn dog run. I was an active pup but I slowed down a lot as I got older. Im still up for a long hike and I love to wrestle and chase a tennis ball, but I also love to lie on the couch and watch TV with mom and dad and my siblings. Its a wonderful idea to go to the shelter to look for a dog, particularly the kill shelter, and especially if you want a big dog. Here are some links for some great dogs at shelters near me!

Born on the 4th of july, maybe

Well mom and dad don't know my official birthday since when they got me from the animal shelter there weren't too many accurate records. All they knew was that I was very cute and I was born sometime in July. Mom decided to have a combination fourth of july and birthday party for me this year and I got to have a delicious flag cake. It wasnt even a dog birthday cake, it was a people cake! Mom used the recipe from the barefoot contessa cookbook and it had vanilla cake, cream cheese frosting, and blueberries and raspberries. Yum! I also got hot dogs for dinner too. All my siblings shared my birthday feast and enjoyed it very much.
I also got pressies of course. Mom got me a 100% pure mutt scarf so I can proudly share my mutt status and she got me some yummy (and stinky) tripe treats and a stuffed monkey toy. Then we went to the dog park and several people commented on how young and active I looked. You could never tell I am 6 years old. Mom hopes I have about 60 birthdays to come

This morning mom and dad took me and my brother Bob and foster brother Bingo to the park for a picnic breakfast. Tubby and Ping stayed home so it would be easier to push Bingo in his stroller, but they got extra treats later. Mom bought us a plain bagel and we all got to have some of it. Yummy! Then we took a nice walk around the park. I love summer and getting out in the park early in the morning before it is to hot. Im looking forward to a super fun summer.

Well today mommy and daddy took me and little bro Bob to the ACS dogs walk at riverside park. Mom had set up a fundrainsing page for us and we were able to raise more then a 100 dollars for human and animal cancers. We had a very good time at the walk. Mom thinks I was happy to be back in my old stomping ground Manahattan. We saw lots of the cute little tiny dogs I love, I got to smell tons of chihuauhuas and yorkies. Mommy say a brussels griffon and was all excited since she says when I get a new brother it will be a brussels. We got samples of lots of yummy food, particularly a home cooked food thats only available in manhattan sigh, and mommy bought us doggie cannolis. Daddy had our pictures taken so we could be entered in the cutest dog contest. I didnt sit still so Im not sure how my picture came out but I know Im the cutest!

My siblings all got to post diary entries this week and I didnt want to be left out. I had a nice lazy vacation week with mom and dad, lots of fun walks in the park. Best of all was I got to sleep in every morning. Usually mom and dad have to drag me out of bed when they get up for work so they can make the bed and I hate it. This week I got to stay in bed until 9 most mornings. Mommy also tried to take some new pictures of me but I dont cooperate for pictures as well as my siblings. Those pugs pose and pose but I cant sit still for that long. Oh well, in real life just now Im even handsomer then I am in my photos.

I have exciting news: Mommy has signed me and Bob up for the dogs walk against cancer in NYC on May 4. Its only one dog per walker so since its just her and daddy going they can only bring two of us. Since Tubby and Ping generally prefer napping on the coach to walking long distances, mommy decided to bring me and Bob.
Also mommy has updated my page! Since I love riding in the car so much, seriously I'd rather ride in the car then do just about anything except eat a big rare steak, mommy feels I would love to be a long distance truck driver. Of course that line of work is only open to humans. In honor of my love of the open road Mommy made me a truck driving theme page with road background and some nice road songs. Drive on!

She also got wallet sizes to give out to some of our friends. I was a little but nervous during the photo shoot, I didnt understand why I had to stay on the tiny stage, but I did my best. Now I look like a real country doggy!

Woo Hoo! Dog Park Day

I got to do my favorite thing today get in the car and go to the dog run! I had a great time playing with a nice pitbull lady, she was very strong! We played tug with a blue bone that someone had left at the run. Momma was very proud of me because I didnt guard it, so even though she doesn't aprove of toys at the dog run she let me play with it. Unfortunately, later on I was a little big naughty. A big newfie came into the park and I was a little bit rude and growly too him, maybe I was mad I wasnt the biggest guy at the park anymore. He also had on a scarf that said "World's Best Kisser" who was he kidding? I give the world's best kisses. Anyway because I was naughty, mommy and daddy took me and my siblings home, so unfair!

Tag

I was tagged by my super cute friend Peaches

The Rules:

Here are the rules of this Dogster game of "tag" in case you've never gotten a chance to play. When you are tagged, you post 7 random facts about yourself, compose a "new DIARY entry" along with the rules and put them in your own DIARY. Then you pick 7 furs (kitties or doggies) to tag but make sure you tell them... a simple p-mail will do fine, or a rosette to tell them, but you must let them know that they have been tagged. Post their names also in your DIARY.

Here are my 7 fun facts:
1.) I passed my therapy dog certification with the Good Dog Foundation in NYC. I did a few visutes by then we moved to New Jersey so I havent doen any visits in a while. Mommy is still really proud of me for passing the test though.
2.) I love little dogs. The tinier the better. My absolute favorite dogs (other then my siblings) are chihuahuas. Im not too crazy about big dogs though, especially german shephereds.
3.) Im a bit of a scaredy cat (or dog). I dont really like the dark and I really hate it when Im taking my night walk and people come out of the shadows (I give them my scariest bark)
4.) Im a mixed breed but no one seems to know what mix I am. Mommy's heard pit bull, american bulldog, lab, pointer, greyhound, great dane, etc.
5.) I know a few tricks roll over, give paw, lay down, and stay until release. In my family that makes me an obedience genious.
6.) My absolute favorite thing to do is ride in the car. I dont even really care where Im going I just like to ride in the car.
7.) Im a very picky eater when it comes to dog food, but Im a real New York doggie. My favorite foods are bagels and pizza. Mommy only gives me a taste once in a while but I go mad for them.

Im tagging:
1.) Oscar Ming the Merciless
2.) Nikita Sophia
3.) Brodie Bear
4.) Canela
5.) Gabrielle
6.) The 3 Little Chi's
7.)Zeus

Baby Pictures!

My baby picture is up on my page! Woo hoo! Now everyone can see the cutest mutt puppy ever. This picture was taken the day I came home from the kill shelter on staten island to live with mommy and daddy and my big brother baby and my cat sister and brother Baby and Scooter. I was kinda out of it that first day. I dont think Id ever really been out of my shelter cage in my whole 3 months of life. I was a little afraid of all the trafic sounds and of my new siblings. That first day I hid in the corner a lot and I didnt like walking on a leash at all, but Mommy and Daddy could tell I was a sweet heart. In a few days I was walking happily on a leash, cudling with my brother Tubby, and running at the dog run liek all the other puppies.

Dogster Plus

Here I am on dogster plus. Now everyone can see that Im the perfect mutt! I am such a loving and wonderful dog and Ive made so many people happy that mommy wants my page to show the world how wonderful I am. Mommy and Daddy got me from a kill shelter in Staten Island New York. They'd come in too see another dog but when they saw me with my eye patch and my big goofy puppy feet it was love at first sight. I was three months old and had been dumped by my owner along with my mom and thirteen brothers and sisters. All of my brothers and sisters had been adopted. We dont know what happened to my mommy, we are afraid she was put to sleep. Even though I was only a baby I was scheduled to be put to sleep because Id been at the shelter for a long time and Id already been adopted and returned once. Mommy and daddy couldnt let that happen so they took me home that very day on the staten island bus. Hopefully people who look at my dogster page will be encouraged to adopt a dog from a kill shelter because we are the best!
Oh I wanted to add a note about my dogster song! Mommy picked it for me because i love the car! If your going on any cross country trips let me know, Id love to come.

So today I went to the central park dog fair with mom and dad and my two human friends who baby sat me when mommy and daddy where in buffalo and all my canine siblings. I really liked being in central park again I got a little crazy with the pulling. I saw lots of really neat dogs like a 6 month old great dane pup who was as tall as me! I also got to kiss a tiny teacup yorkie, I love really tiny dogs. A lot of the little itty bitty dogs are afraid of me even though I would never hurt them, but not this little yorkie he loved me right back!

I just found out that I get to be a therapy dog with the Good Dog Foundation in NYC. Mommy has been taking me to classes for the last four weeks were they do strange things like take out wheel chairs and walkers and make loud noises and once somebody wore a clown wig. It was all supposed to show if I would be agressive or get scared. I never get agressive cause I am a big moosh. I was also supposed to lie down a lot and listen, that was harder because I really wanted to play wiht the other dogs in the room, but I did it!! Now mommy says I get to visit hospitals, or have kids read to me, or maybe even visit her class of special educaiton students were she works, I'm really excited.

Today I went for my therapy dog evaluation with good dogs. My mommy was a little nervous but she knows that I am a good dog and she has been working hard on basic obedience with me. There were three other cute little dogs at the eval with me. Well I did a great job!!! I sat, stayed (for a little while), lay down, rolled over and shoke hands and I really liked the nice therapy dog lady giving me pets and hugs. Anyway they said I can start the therapy dog class, yeah!!! I still have to pass that class but Im on my way to being a therapy dog hopefully I make it. Wish me luck!!

My Tail of Devotion for Norbert

Norbert is just the sweetest, mellowest, gentlest dog imaginable. We got him from the New York City CACC shelter on staten island. We had been wanting a second dog as a friend for our pug Tubby for a while and we decided that we wanted a big dog, Tubby loves big dogs. We had been researching the mastiff breed and even contacted some breeders when on a whim we decided to go see a dog that had been on the website for the Staten Island CACC. When we got their the dog we had seen online was gone, but if you are a dog lover you can't leave a place like the CACC empty handed. Its a kill shelter. The shelter worker showed us the cutest white and tan pit bull puppy mix with the most adorbale eye patch, they were calling him Nick. He had been at the shelter since his birth three months earlier and had been adopted and returned once already, how could anyone return him! All his brothers and sisters had been adopted. When the lady opened the cage Nick, as he was then called, ambled up to us like he had all the time in the world. I fell in love with his clumsy puppy walk, but I also felt sorry for a big rotweiller mix in the shelter. I was torn. Thankfully my husband said we had to get the puppy, the big dog might have been too much for our pug, he was soo right. The puppy had to be neutered before we could take him home so we went home and my father and law drove us to pick him up the next day. I still remember how cute and clumsy he was when he ran up to us. I was reading the Harry Potter books at the time and I named him Norbert after the character Hagrid's dragon. Everyone instantly loved Norbert, especially our other dog Tubby. Norbert had just the sweetest most mellow disposition and was quickly the star of his puppy kindergarden class and our local dog run. He's had his burst of energy and destructiveness, he has chewed up three seperate couches. Everytime I jsut reminded my self how much more wonderful then a couch Norbert is. Now that he's a bit older my dream for Norbert is that he will be able to become a licensed therapy dog so that other people can experience what a joy he is!
