Halloween Pug Party

Today was the halloween party for my pug group. I was a bumble bee and looked very cute. There where a few other bees there, but mom says I was by far the cutuest bee. My sister Ping went as a flower and Bingo was supposed to be a farmer but his costume was too big. We entered cutest and I didnt want to leave teh stage when I lost out to an adoreable puggie dressed as a beatnick, I know he was cute but so am I! We where finalists for best duo or group but another group of puggies dressed as flowers and bees one. They where really cute though and had a stroller outfitted like a lawn and looked adoreable. We ate pumpkin brownies and played with other pugs. I ran around like a young guy playing with a puppy, you'd never know Im almost nine Mom is already thinkign about what we will be next year.

My visit to the ivy league

Who says pugs aren't smart? Ive been to Princeton university. I went on the princeton university pug crawl with my meetup group the Norther New Jersey Pug extravaganza and the princeton tour company http://www.princetontourcompany.com/polCalendarEvent.cfm?Eve nt_Id=2287

That does all dog walking tours.

It was lots of fun we walked all over the campus and heard about Princeton and some stuff about dogs. Even though Ping and I where among the oldest pugs there we walked great and where at the front of the group and we didnt even get tired! We got a few cookie at the end and we went to a restaurant where they gave us baby carrots. Mom and Dad plan to bring us or may one of our siblings back to the town of Princeton just to spend a day walking around.

7 fun facts about me:

1.) I was mom and dad's first dog. Mom had never had a dog before, but always wanted one, Dad had had dogs as kids but never had his own dog. I was so great they decided to get the rest of my pack.

2.) I was a wedding gift from mom's parents. Mom and dad got the money to pick me out and then my breeders kept me until after the wedding. Mom walked around her reception with my photo.

3.) My birthday is 3 days after mom's so we have a joint party. I always get a cake and presents. My grand parents (on mom's side) always send me my own birthday card on my birthday, with a pug on it!

4.) I belong to the pug group the northern new jersey pug extravaganza. I go to lots and lots of fun events, like a pug 60s party and tommorow Im going with them on a tour of princeton called the Princeton pug crawl. The halloween pug fest is my favoriet event.

5.) I bark at other dogs on leash (bad) but I love any dog that enters my home.

6.) I love pizza crust and bagels and most foods, but no fruit. My brother Norbert loves fruit.

7.) Shhh I am mom's favorite. I sleep by her head in bed ever night.

Pugsberry Bake Off

Today Ping Zira and I went to the pugsberry bake off party. Bingo had to stay home because he has become incontinent and mom and dad where afraid he would pee in the car, he has diapers but they dont seem to stay on. We brought him (and Norbert and Bob) tons of treats home though. It was so much fun we ate lots of yummy treats bannana pupcakes, doggie bones, meat treats, peanutbutter treats, and more. My favorite where my mommy's blueberry pupcakes from the ultimate dog treat cook book by liz palika. Here is the recipe

Bluberry Pupcakes
1/2 cup dog kibble ground in food processor (Mom uses wellness core low fat)
1 7 0z package Jiffy blueberry muffin mix
2 large eggs
2/3 cup evaporated low fat or skim milk
1 cup fresh or frozen blue berries

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 12 muffin cups with paper liners. Stir all ingredients together to make a grainy cake batter like texture. Spoon into cupcake liners 2/3 of the way full. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until cooked through and golden brown. Frost, if you like, with whipped cream cheese and decorate with a dog treat.

The best part was mom and dad won the raffle so they got a dog cookie mix from King Arthur's flour and a dog cookie cutter so we will be having more treats soon.

My new owl collar

I got a new collar from the store veryvintage at etsy.com. It is purple and has an owl print. The store is really nice and all the collars are made of organic cotton, they may barettes and stuff for people too. I look supercute in the collar and since it has owls on and it and since mom loves Harry Potter she decided to put some owls and harry potter stuff on my page. She is home with me for the next 3 weeks, which is great

Pugstock

Today mom and dad too me Ping and Bingo to the norther new jersey pug extravaganza's pug stock meetup. It was supposed to be two weeks ago but it was too muddy and rainy so it was rescheduled for today. I had a special outfit, a hat from mia pia's closet and a my tie died shirt. I had a good time running around with the other puggies who were all dressed up in tie dye. Sadly I lost my pug collar there, Im not sure where it went. Oh well, if no one finds it mom will have to get me a styling new collar.

New photo of me and Nacho

Mom loves this picture of me and my puppy friend Nacho. He is staying with us this weekend. Mostly I just ignore him, he is a bit jumpy and barky for me but we get along fine. We took a nice long walk in my favorite park, liberty park, yesterday and mom took this picture of us lounging in the grass. We both love grass. Librty is the best park in jersey city because it has the nicest grass and big wide path ways by the water and over the grass. You can see the nyc skyline and the statue of liberty and because there are not a lot of trees you can see dogs coming for a long way off so mom and dad can prepare to distract me from lunging at them. Mom and dad like to take us there early in the morning when the park is almost empty.

I also went to the vet this weekend and got bloodwork and an exam. The vet said I look very good and that my teeth look pretty good. Mom will hear the results of my bloodwork on monday but the vet says I look like a healthy pugger and am a good weight, exactly 25 lbs.

Pug 60s Bash

As you can see I have a 60s hippie themed page. Mom is getting me ready for the northern new jersey pug extravaganza's june meetup which is going to be a 60s party. I already have a tye die shirt and mom is going to try to get me some 60s head gear. Im going to look super cute as an old hippie.

Playing like a pup

Today I went to the dog park for the first time in a while. Mom and Dad are a little dog park leery. It went very well though and I had a great time. I played with a young pitbull, Thunder, who had been adopted from the shelter mom volunteers at! Liberty humane society. Thunder has found a great owner and is a happy 8 month old boy. We were playing and wresting and Iw as acting like a pup. Thunders owner could not believe I was 8. Ive always been a rough and tumble pugger who likes to play with the big guys. My bestest doggie friends have always been huskies or pitbulls or rotweillers, I really prefer to play wiht the big guys. Maybe its because i love my big bro Norbert so much.

Norbert is not much of a dog park player though he just wants to play with the tennis ball at hte park.

Starting raw

Mom is starting part time raw feeding with me. Some days Ill get my kibble and some days raw. Its part of what she calls my "live forever plan." Ive had some raw before, as have my siblings, but now taht my dad will be starting a new job soon we can afford it more. Mom likes the convenience of pre made raw for me and then some rmbs.

My first raw meal was some boneless chicken breast and a sardine. Tommrow I woll have some tripe. We also have some buffalo meat I can have eventually. Yum. Then mom is going to pick up some nature's variety raw for me and she has ordered some bravo raw meat mixes from the store Wholistic paws. She is picking them up on May 2nd as the store only gets the 10 lb mixes in once a month. My good friend Bo and his mom are helping me with my diet plan. If I do well and if we can afford to by a freezer mom might start the rest of our park on partial raw.

Easter Meetup Fiasco

So sunday was the easter meetup for our pug group the northern nj pug extravagana, but it kind of did not go perfectly. We looked great! Mom got us all outfits from Mia Pia's closet. 2 vests and a hat and dress. She makes the best pug clothes.

Mom also made deviled eggs and banana pudding for the meetup.

Then we got so lost on the way there! silly mom forgot to bring the organiers cell phone. We missed the turn and wound up near the catskills. Dad was driving for hours. We did get there but the meetup was finished, we just got out to go to the bathroom and eat a few treats.

Mom promises to make it up to us by making us a special treat for easter.

Par Tay!

So I had my big bash yesterday for the big 8 and it was tons of fun. I wore my tye dye shirt and a birthday pin my dad got me and a party hat and my victorain pug bell collar and the scarf they game me at my grooming. Whew! was I decked out. All my siblings wore party hats too and I had guests, mom's friend Joyce and her boyfriend and their dog Nacho who is my friend.

Mom decorated the house and us dogs had apple cinnamon cupcakes with cream cheese. The humans had chilled peach soup, and chicken cesar sandwiches, and veggies and dip and chocolate cake.

I got some pupperoni from Joyce which is my favorite guilty pleasure. Mom doesnt think its good for me, too many additives, but she has promised to let me have some since its a birthday treat.

Count down to my b-day 1 day to go

So mom and dad took me out today for an only dog day to celebrate my upcoming 8th birthday, hte big day is tommorow and Im having a nice party. Mom and I share birthdays since hers is on the 26 and mine is the 29. Mom's 31 so she is getting older too, btu she never worries about that she just worries about me getting older.

I went to the groomer and got a full bath and groom and nails and ears and a little scarf. Then mom bought me too toys, the real small ones I like. I only like teensy chihuahua size toys. I got a tiny cake toy and a tiny little stuffed dog toy.

Then we went to hoboken and mom went in Barnes and Noble while I waited outside with dad, I couldnt go in becasue they had the cafe on the main floor sigh. Mom used her birthday gift certificate from a friend at work, a dog loving friend!, to buy some dog books. She got modern dog magazine, a book on cavalier king charles spaniel (thats gonna be mom's next dog), and a book play with your dog that has soem fun ideas for games. Games I probably wont really want to play.

Then we went to the dog park. I didnt play much, just hung out. Then dad got me a hot dog which I definitely enjoyed. Happy birthday to me.

Merry Xmas

Xmas was fun fun fun. We watched my favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz, coincedentaly mom's favorite too. If you think dogs dont watch movies you are wrong I love barking along with Toto.

For Christmas I got a new aloha pug snuggly. Its tropical print is supposed to keep the winter blues away. I also got a snow man rattle toy but Bob and Norbert have coopted it. I am not much for toys anymore but I still like running about.

Puggie Xmas meetup

Today I went with Ping and Bingo to the puggie holiday meetup. We got to sit on santypaws lap for a picture, Ping and I wore our Christmas pug snugglies. Then we played with the other pugs and had a secret santa gift exchange. I got a toy moose, bone snacks, and chew bone, and mom and dad got some chocolate.

I love playing with other pugs and seeing pugs. Pugs rule.

Happy Turkey Day

Im a very thankful doggie that Id have 7 lovely thanksgivings wtih my family and I hope have 7 more!

I had a great time eating yummy turkey for dinner and spending the day with mom and dad. Then today mom and dad brought home a suprise a new couch! Couches are my favorite so I tried this one out right away nice and soft. Im thankful Ill be sitting on it in the new year. I just cant imagine other doggies not being allowed on the furniture.

Meadowlands pet expo

Today I went with mom and dad and my sister Zira to the meadowlands pet expo. It was mostly fun. Mom was not happy to see an elephant there as she is not a fan of elaphant rides. Poor elaphant!

We did like seeing all the neat show dogs there where a whole bunch of Cane Corso Mastiffs there and I was a little abd and barked at one. Im a tough guy!
We also saw a bunch of very friendly cavalier king charles spaniels.

We saw a lot of neat non dog pets too. There was a cat show (no dogs allowed though), llamas, sugar gliders (so cute!), reptiles and amphibians and best of all as far as mom was concerned parrots! Mom even got to hold an african grey parrot. I dont seem to care one way or another about parrots.

The best part as far as I was concerned was we got some nice treats

Boo bash

I love going to doggie events. Mom is big on keeping dogs social. Particularly young dogs. Socialization is the key to a happy and friendly dog, and Im proof of that. I had great fun at the boo bash for the Norther NJ Pug Extravaganza. I got to compete in the costume competetion. The winners where two adorable pugs who where dressed as Sony and Cher, complete with wigs! Its great fun to bring your dog places.

Tubby-Pug of Many Faces

So as you can see I have another fabulous halloween costume this year. Mom got me a Native American inspired vest from Sassy Pet Wear, my pug sisters Ping has a Native American dress and my pug brother Bingo has a vest like mine, but in brown. Its the most recent in a long line of halloween costumes. So far I've been a cowboy, a dragon, a pirate, a chinese man, and Captain Jack Sparrow. I also have plenty of everyday outfits and costmes like my tikki outfit and my harley davidson cap. Next year mom is thinking about doing a fairty tale theme and I could be a king or a knight or I may be a pirate again or a football player! Time will tell! I love halloween I get to go pick out a pumpkin, this year we went to Demarest farm's and I had some donut! I also get lots of halloween treats and toys and its nice cool puggy weather so I can go on long walks. There are also tons of fun doggie events, next weekend is the Norther NJ pug meetup Boo Bash! I can't wait. Happy Howl-O-Ween!

New baby pics

Daddy got a new printer with a scanner with his grant from work, so mom was able to load some of my old photos from before she had a digital camera or a dogster account. Here is what I looked like when I was mommy and daddy's brand new baby boy! Of course Im still thier baby.

Champion Pet Photography

Mom and Dad got this fantastic photo of me and Ping when Champion pet photos visited pet smart. They are the same people who took the great picture of Tubby and Norbert. We didnt really like the photo session but it was over quick and we look so cute. Of course mom bought hte biggest package and has a new lovely giant picture of us to hang up on the wall.

NNJPE Mexican Fiesta

Today mom and dad took me and Ping and Bingo to the Northern New Jersey Pug mexican fiesta. It was so much fun. I got a chili pepper scarf and I got to play with tons of puggies and there was a whole table of doggie treats. I wanted to try some of the human treats but that wasnt allowed. It was great fun though. In honor of hte occasion mommy made me a chilli pepper page and put on her favorite red hot chili peppers song. Viva La Pug!

Dog of the Day!

Mommy is so excited (drum roll) Im dog of the day! She always knew I was special. Im also very lucky because mom and dad both have the week off from work so they are home with me all day. Im going to go for a nice long walk in the park with them and then rest on the couch. Im sure Ill get some extra treats out of mom too. Dad is a little confused by the whole dogster thing but he knows mom is happy Im dog of the day so he is happy too. This is just the best day ever!

I tried agility and did pretty good for an old man!

Mommy and daddy took me and sister Ping to the pug agilty meetup at Morris K-9 camp today. It was mostly young whippersnappers but there were a few more seasoned puggers there with nice grey beards like mine. Mommy particularly liked a cuddly gramma puggy that was there. Anyway, I had never tried agilty before and mommy and daddy say Im not very athletic so they weren't sure how Id do but I did pretty good. I was scared of the tunnel at first but once I found out that mommy had liver treats on the other end I went right through. The ramp was a little scarrier I practically had to be dragged up the first time and I was scared to go down, but the things I will do for liver. So I tried it and I made it! Yeah! Im not quite ready for competition yet but mommy says maybe we will try a beginner class someday.

BBQ for pugapalooza

I saw the diary assignment on pugapalooza to right about your favorite bbq food and I had to help. I love bbq. This year for my birthday and mommy's birthday (our b days are 3 days apart) Mommy made bbq brisket. So I learned about bbq brisket. Ok let let me see I learned that bbq brisket is from the lone star state of texas. Cowboy puggies! When you make brisket you gotta learn about the cut. You should also get something called flat cut mommy says the butcher man will know. He has a good job all that meat, yummy! This is not diet food which is why I liked it. You need brisket that has fat on it. Brisket cooks a long time so you must be patient. You can cook it for 20 hrs in a smoker which will mean lost of drooling puggies. If you dont cook your brisket for along time at a loooow heat you will have tough yucky meat that will be to hard for your puggie teeth to chew. If you cook it right you will have meat that is yummy and tender and ready for gobbling up. You also have to make a rub for the meat with different spices and you have to make a yummy sauce for the meat. To make real texas brisket you need a kinda barbecue called a smoker. Mommy and daddy can buy one at the store. Or you can make a smoker from a trash can! You know that container into which the silly humans through all the tasty food scraps. Wasteful! Anyway, Alton Brown made a smoker from a trashcan on TV it seemed very complicated. My puggie brain hat a tough time following it but it involved wood chips and something called a hot plate. Mommy also thought it looked tough so she cheated and make her brisket in the oven. It was soooo good. Here is recipe from www.epicurious.com

Broncbuster's Barbecue Sauce
PreparationPreheat oven to 325°F. Rub garlic into both sides of brisket. Combine all remaining ingredients except barbecue sauce in small bowl and mix well. Rub into brisket. Set brisket fat side up on large piece of foil and wrap tightly. Transfer to shallow roasting pan. Bake until tender, about 3 hours. Serve hot or cold with sauce.

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup prepared chili sauce
1/2 cup catsup
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon molasses
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
PreparationMelt butter in large skillet over medium-low heat. Add onion. Cover and cook until translucent, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Blend in remaining ingredients. Bring sauce to boil. Reduce heat and simmer gently, uncovered, 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve at room temperature.

Mommy did not give me any of the sauce because it had onions in it. Mommy has heard onions is bad for doggies so I just gots the meat. That was was fine with me!

The Big 7 for me and the Big 30 for mom!

I celebrated my 7th birthday on March 29 (pictures of the big event coming soon) just 3 days after mommy turned 30. I had a very nice day. Mom gave me some of the blueberry pancakes she made for breakfast (much yummier then wellness core kibble). Then mommy and daddy and all of us dog kids went for a nice long walk in liberty state park where you can see the statue of liberty. Unfortunately Ping stooped to eating goose poop during our walk (there are a lot of geese in that park) but I didnt let that spoil my birthday. Mom made me a special birthday dinner (it was also her birthday dinner). She made barbecued brisket that was really yummy and maple baked beans and potato salad that I couldnt have because they had onions in them. The best part was the desert. Mom made hummingbird cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and I got a whole cupcake just for me. I also got three presents a new tie dye shirt, a puffer fish ball, and a squeeky elephant. I didnt show that much interest in the presents but the food was great. My little brother Bob is enjoying the puffer fish ball and squeeky elephant.

Christmas

Oooh! We had a fun Christmas here! Mommy put on our favorite movie the Wizard of Oz, I just love barking at Toto, and we opened our presents. My special present was a squeeky snowman that said naughty on one side and nice on the other. Im always nice though never naughty, and mommy knows it! I also had a yummy Christmas dinner of ham and potatoes. Merry Christmas!

Grumpy Old Elf

Mom took some cute photos of me in my elf hat this weekend. I look kind of old and grumpy, Im going grey early like all puggers. I had a nice holiday weekend though. My first Xmas gift also came, the holiday pug snuggly's mommy got me and Ping. They are very soft and warm. Mommy made us all special thankgiving dinners and got to go to the dog run and for a couple of walks in the park. Even though Im looking like an old guy I still kept up at with the young uns' at the dog park.

Fun Weekend!

I had a great weekend! On Friday night momma gave me my first RMB, a chicken leg and thigh and I loved it, I almost ate the whole thing before momma took it away. Boy do I love this raw feeding thing and it was much funner then getting my teeth brushed. Then on Sunday Momma and Daddy took me and all my canine siblings to the Dog Park for a bulldog meet up. I got to model my new poochie grey pug snuggly that momma ordered for me from www.pugsnuggly.com, they have great coats for puggers. I had so much fun playing wiht the other dogs and getting complements on my jacket. The only low point in the weekend was momma making me wear my Captain Jack costume for photos on Saturday night, I'm not crazy about the pirate hat. Momma also updated my playlist so I have the Pirate's of the Caribean them to go with my costume and the X-files theme because I needed some hallween music. I hope next weekend is as much fun as this one!

My baby photo

My baby photo is up! Now everyone can see how cute I was as a puppy. Mommy convinced daddy to scan our baby photos at work and Ta Da!

This picture was taken my first night with mommy and daddy. Mommy actually couldn't wait to get back from her honeymoon in mexico so she could pick me up from the breeder. Getting me was the happiest day of mommy's life there is just no competition! Her wedding day was fun but too stressful to the best day and she doesnt remember exactly when she met daddy and the day she and daddy got engaged she doenst remember to clearly and she has never been much for graduations etc, etc. But the day mommy got me she remembers every detail. She and daddy and my grandpa drove to the breeders house to pick me up and I ran to the door! Mommy carried on my lap all the way home in the car (know that she is a more educated mommy I have a doggie seatbelt). I played in the front yard at my new house. Then I went inside and met my cat sister Baby. I pooped on the floor and baby tried to cover it up with a sock before mommy could clean it up! I sat on the coach and watch TV with mommy and daddy. That night daddy put me in a crate but I cried a lot and that was the end of that. Mommy put me right in the bed wiht her and daddy and I slept curled up on mommy's pillow.

Dogster Plus

Woo hoo Im on dogster plus! Now the whole world can see why Im momma's favorite doggie. Since Im such a sweet little cuddle bug and love nothing more in the world then to snuggle momma thought a nice romantic Bary White song would suit me. Soon she will put some videos up of me, but since I spend most of my time making sure the couch doesnt fly away they might not be too exciting. If you have time please sign my guest book!

Doggie Fair

So today I went with my mommy and daddy and my sibblings and two of mom's friends to the central park dog fair. It was fun to be back in the city for a day and I was crazy excited. Mommy put me in my sailor shirt which daddy said made me look silly but I know I was adorable. I saw a lot of dogs, there were tons of shiba inus and they were very pretty. I saw some of my old dog friends from when I lived in Manhattan like Wilbur and Pumpkin my friends from pug meetups. I also met a tiny yorkie that only weighted 1 lb he made me look like a mastiff!

the big move

As the unofficial head of my pack I am going to write the diary entry about the big move. Mommy and daddy bought a house in Jersey city so they woudl be clsoe enough to their job is NYC but be able to have a yard and more space for us. So far us dogs seem to like the house, but the cats are still adjusting. My little bro Ernie has been hiding under the bed all day and coming out at night. We still have a park to go to that is not as big as Central park or as nice, but its fine. Its called Lincoln Park. My sister Ping had a log of fun doing her crazy circles in the grass. We haven't used our yard much yet because their is some broken glass left by the man who used to live inthe house. Daddy has to clean it up so we can play. We wish it was a grass yard, its cement but that means we can park our car there. We have a neighbor doggy who we feel very sad for. He lives in tiny fenced in area under the deck of the neighbor's house. He doesnt seem to ever go inside or go on walks or anything fun. He barks at us when we are outside which scares us a little, at first we barked back but now we are getting used to it. Maybe he is jealous. We wish will all humans new that dogs are part of the family and belong inside, not outside!

Coffee with mommy, daddy, and my little bro

This morning mommy and daddy took me and my new brother Bob for coffee at the local coffee shop. This will be one of my last trips out and about the neighborhood before we all move to Jersey City. My brother Bob sure attracts a lot of attention but the more knowledgeable folk know how to recognize canine star quality when they see it, and give all the attention to me!

Trick or Treating

I got all dressed up to go Trick or Treating at Petco. I had on a nice chinese jacket mommy said I was a chinese man. But while we were walking to Petco it started to rain a lot. I hate the rain. My red jacket started to drip drip drip the collor all over the place, oh no! My fur was turning red. When I got home I got red foot prints on the couch before daddy could stop me. He wasnt happy. I was so dissapointed but at least mommy and daddy got me a bully stick treat and a pirate toy for Halloween.

I hate the rain

Poor poor me. I hate the rain. I try not to go outside in the rain but mommy makes me. I wish I could just go to the corner but mommy makes me go all around the block to make sure my brother and sister pee. Poor me it is very sad poor poor tubby

Spoiled Rotten!!!

Mommy was so excited today because my new spoiled rotten shirt arrived. She put it on me right away. I dont like shirts much because they make me hot but boy I looked cute! It was a bussy day because we got a new couch delivered. I was very worried when mommy and daddy threw out the old couch, were would I take my naps and watch TV? But the new couch is fine. My sister Ping and I enjoyed some chewy treats on the new couch. Mommy bought them for us when she bought my brother Norbert's birthday present, a squeeky Fox, he is four years old.
