Woo hoo! and on valentines day, so appropriate because I love to love.

Love pug

Valentine's day is a good day for pugs. The love sponges of the dog world. On saturday mom and dad went to a pug dog show, I couldnt go as it was for show dogs only. They met lots of lovely pugs and talked to some breeders. Mom assures me that no pug was as cute as me, though they were all cute.

On sunday I went with mom, dad, Norbert, and Ping to the super pet expo. I got treats and two shirts. One that says muttrosexual and one that says I heart mom. Mom and dad also bought a welcome sign with a fawn and black pug on it. We saw lots of dogs includign soem pugs.

Happy Howl O Days

Well I got a very bad early Christmas suprise this year, the big C. Mom noticed a very tiny lump on my tummy and it turned out to be a mast cell tumor. She was a sobbing wreck. I had an operation thought and it went pretty well. The tumor came out with clean margins (yeah!) and it was a grade 2 (vet told mommy they almost all come back grade 2) with a low mitotic index of 1-3. Mom learned on the dog cancer blog that a mitotic index of 5 or below is good. My bloodwork and radiographs were good too. So right now mom just has to keep an eye on me. She is very worried but me and dad keep telling her I will be around for years. Tubby TNG (the next generation) is a long way off

Christmass was fun. I got a new sweater from pugnotes on etsy, I also got a little reindeer toy and a lot of treats. I get to eat raw food after my diagnosis too which I love. Right now I am eating primal chicken raw and I take a lot of supplements an antioxidant supplement, coenzyme q 10, vitamin c, fish oil, and soon I will take curcumin (10 days after surgery) Keep me in your thoughts

Puggie Halloween!

Today was my pug group's, NNJPE, puggie halloweem party. Ping and I went as pugzilla and pug mothra. my costume was from beantown home made on etsy. Ping got her costume from mia pia's closet. We wont scariest in the halloween costume contest! Best in show went to a pug dressed as snookie from the jersey shore, her costume was very cute.

I lost 5 lbs

I had my 6 month senior wellness exam and it went great. The vet said I was in great shape for a dog my age, Im not sure how I feel about that phrase since I still consider myself a young pug (thats what mommy tells me). Your only as old as you feel! Anyway my diet worked great and I lost 5 lbs, but it was no fun. My bloodwork was good but my cholesterol was a little high so mom is going to feed me the lowfat food more often. Thats ok with me since I love wellness core lowfat, but i was a little said that she said no more chicken skin. She did promise me pumpkin brownies for halloween though!

The New Jersey Food and Wine Fest

Yesterday mom and dad took me out for a special outing. We went to the new jersey wine festival at Allaire Park in Farmingdale. We met dad's family there and I had a very good time seeing them. There were some other dogs at the festival, but mom says she thinks I got the most attention of any of them. I got lots of compliments. I also got to meet two cavaliers, one of mom's favorite breeds. Since Ive been so good on my diet and have lost wait mom and dad let me have some extra treats. I had some pizza crust from the wood fired pizza mom got and some of dad's brisket from his brisket sandwich. Then dad's cousin gave me a little bit of funnel cake. I snuck some of mom's orange ice cream float. The only thing they didnt let me have was wine! Mom and dad promissed to take me back next year.

Living up to my name

I had my vet visit yesterday and got a sort of nasty suprive, I gained 4 lbs 29.1 lbs mom and dad are not so happy. They told me I am going on a diet. Especially sinceI have been walkign stiffly and might be getting some arthritis. So mom and dad went out and bought me natures variety raw medallions and baby carrots and wellness core low fat and they are going to (gasp) reduce my food. Last night I got less food then usual, and in the middle of hte night mom woke up to hear my tummy grumbling. She felt lind of guilty, but it was funny too. She woke dad up to hear it and they both agreed it was the loudest tummy grumbling they had ever heard. So I got a bit more food this morning. Ive always gotten exercise with walking, except in the very cold weather, but I guess know Im going to get more frequent shorter walks.

My 9th birthday

Mom's computer hasnt been working so she wasnt able to post my 9th birthday pics until today, even though my birthday was monday the shame! I had a nice bluberry cake and I got a small mini cuz, a little koala bear, a new collar fromwalk e woo and blueberry peanutbutter Zukes treats that I ddint like much, but I loved hte cake, particularly the frosting. Here is mom's recipe

Tubby's Bluberry Party cake

2 packs of jiffy blueberry muffin mix or other muffin mix
1 cup kibble (we used natures variety instinct rabbit flavor)
1 egg
3/4 cup yogurt
2 tbsp saflower oil
3 tbsp black strap molasses
1 bag frozen blueberries or 1 pint fresh blueberries

Preheat oven to 350
Mix together and pour into prepared 8 inch square pan and bake about 30 minutes or according to mix directions

Frosting
1 package low fat cream cheese
a few stella and chewys freeze dried chicken treats or other freeze dried meat treat crumbled up
blue food coloring

Mix and spread on cake
