Put your whole hand over my head and squeeze lightly. Oh wow, that's so great... don't stop massaging my head! When you get tired of rubbing my head, pet the top part of my chest for awhile. I'll give you 30 minutes to stop that!
Don't touch the queen unexpectedly, and don't EVER grab my tail unless you want to pick a fight! And I really don't care for competition from other pretty females at the dog park. The nerve of some women. How dare they try to compete with the Queen!
I am wayyyy to sophisticated to play with toys. OK, truth time. Between you and me, I lick on several wooly toys from time to time. Although... there's one soft, fuzzy alligator.... I pretend he's my baby. I lick on him all the time.
Whatever my parents leave on the kitchen table, I'll try to steal and eat. If you aren't careful, I'll steal your napkin off your lap -- or the kitchen table -- and run through the house with it!
Take me to the greenbelt! The Plano dog park! Let's go for a walk! Anywhere I can run, run, run! Hey, how about accidentally letting me slip under the garage door! I'm gone, baby! I'll be back tonight....don't wait up.
Incessant pawing on mommy and daddy's hair when I want attention or I want them to wake up in the morning.
We adopted Sheba from Basenji Rescue and Transport in 2001, soon after we lost our beloved Cleo, another Basenji. Cleo had Fanconi Syndrome and we were devastated when we lost her at age 7. We started looking for another female companion for Bagel, our first male Basenji, who was also lost without his soulmate, Cleo. We thought Sheba looked like a lot of fun, and she is! Some kind BRAT volunteers drove her from Alabama to Texas, and I drove down to Houston to pick her up. I cried when I saw her for the first time; she looked so much like our Cleo. I knew at that moment that Cleo had become our guardian angel and that she led Sheba to live with us.
I am a nervous bundle of energy! I patrol the house constantly and I'm the one who keeps the boys in the house -- Bagel and Tahzu -- in line. I am in LOVE with my daddy and I always try to snuggle with him on the sofa or the bed... I try to hide in the bed pillows so I can stay in the bedroom all night, instead of having to go to our sunroom, where we sleep at night and when mommy and daddy are at work.
Don't be a hater... you know I'm foxy!
Favorite college football team::
I love that big Bevo steer! Go Texas Longhorns! Hook 'em!
My favorite songs::
She's a Bad Mama Jama -- Carl Carlton; and Too Hot Ta Trot -- The Commodores
My favorite perfume::
Eau de Beef
My favorite out-of-town treat::
Dad and Mom bring us beef rib bones from the Iron Works BBQ in Austin. They are to die for!
My best troublemaking moment::
Mom left me in the car once, when she had to take Bagel inside briefly to see the vet. I don't like being left alone... so I quickly chewed through the seat belt she had my harness attached to. That was an expensive repair. HA HA HA!

My cutie-pie friend, Max, tagged me last week! OK, so here are the rules of this fun game:
(Hint: Copy and paste the rules so you don't have to type them again):
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their diary the rules and their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!
-----------------------------My 7 Pawsome Facts-----------------------------
1. I am a fussy girl. I boss around Bagel and Tahzu! When it's time for bed, I "herd" them into our sunroom, like a Border Collie would do it! It makes them mad -- ha!
2) I can't get enough attention. I will sit next to you and paw at you incessantly. Keep petting me, no paw. Stop, and I'll gently paw you over and over and over....
3) I like salty snack foods. Love smoked almonds and BBQ potato chips.
4) I don't play with toys as much as I "baby" them. Throw a toy and I"ll chase it, but then when I get it I'll just lick on it for awhile. Maybe I always wanted to be a mommy?
5) I have to be in the bathroom with mom or dad. And I mean up close and personal. A little too close for their comfort.. but I need to know what's going on at all times.
6) I am a southern belle, transplanted into a southwestern babe. I'm originally from Alabama, but some very kind BRAT volunteers transported me from Alabama to Texas back in 2001.
7) I have a crush on Max Mattias. There. I've yodeled it!
The dogs I tagged include:

Mom is nuts. I think I've made myself clear about her before. But she's at it again. Our home is undergoing some renovations, which is annoying enough. I mean, how am I supposed to get my beauty rest when there are carpenters, painters and such in my home? But then she got a wild idea to re-do the sunroom, er, our room, in crazy colors.
Does she think we don't see in color? Heavens, the colors keep me up at night. Lime green, tangerine, lemon yellow, sky blue -- it's like a giant box of Froot Loops. It's obvious she didn't consult me. I mean.... wouldn't it make sense to consult me about the room where I sleep at night? I certainly would have chosen colors more suitable for a queen.... something to complement my naturally beautiful chestnut fur and white blaze.
The boys, Bagel and Tahzu, seem to take it all in stride. But I don't think their eyesight is acute as mine..... seriously. How many of you boys would live in room that looks like Disney puked on it?
If you think you can talk some sense into my mom... contact me. I could use the reinforcements.
Yodels to all y'all.....

Hello, fellow Dogsters....
Last weekend, Mom and Dad went out of town for a family event, so the boys and I got to stay at Petite Pooch. It's our favorite hotel and spa! The accommodations are fine...although nothing's can be adequate enough for me, of course. I never find the level of service at any hotel to be as good as I deserve... but, I digress.
We all stayed in the same suite and the staff said we were really good. (They're lying to mom and dad -- we tipped the staff to keep their mouths shut). We played together and we didn't fight with each other over who got more room in our suite. (Again, that's our story and we're sticking to it.)
I always like it at Petite Pooch because there are usually other pretty dogs like me, so we hang out together in the back yard, or we trot around the chateau during open play time to investigate whatever's going on. Usually some hairy dogs are getting groomed in the spa; that's always fun to watch. I get along really well with Whippets because they're skinny like me and they like to run fast! We do laps around the yard! It's fun catching up on all the gossip with the girls at Petite Pooch.
I know... you're thinking.... does Bagel really belong at Petite Pooch? I mean, he's a big Basenji -- always has been a big-boned dude. The nice people at Petite Pooch kinda grandfather him in, because he's been going there since he was just a kid. That's just the kind of cool people they are...
And Bagel is so handsome (Tahzu, too) -- who could resist?
Until next time... barroos to you!
