I totally dig snuggling with mommy (or any girl), pulling dirty clothes out of a hamper and opening drawers and cabinets to steal tissues, Q-tips and makeup brushes!
Don't grab my paws! They're sensitive. And don't move me when I've found the perfect napping spot. Oh, and I get so ticked when I have to go to the sunroom, where we all hang out when mom and dad go to work.
I am passionate about my patriotic red, white and blue fuzzy bone. When I moved in, it was one toy that didn't have another dog's snark on it! I also like yanking on those squirrels in the fuzzy tree stump toy. Stupid squirrels!
Almost anything. But don't give me those nasty teeth-cleaning Dentabones. You can't fool me! Yuck. Hate 'em. And sometimes I have to think about whether to eat my heartworm chewie. But almost everything else is fantastic. Yeah!
I like romping through the greenbelt in our neighborhood, and I like running around and meeting new dogs at the Plano dog park.
Please, let me shake your hand! And if you ask nicely, I'll sit, lie down and hop up. Sometimes I do all my tricks at once, in rapid-fire mode! I drive mommy nuts when I open drawers and cabinets
Tahzu was a rescue from Basenji Rescue and Transport. We agreed to foster him for a week until a new adoptee was secured. But within four hours of bringing Tahzu to our home, my hubby caved and said he wanted to keep him. So Tahzu makes Basenji #3 in our home! It was a good call. Tahzu is the sweetest, most affectionate Basenji we've ever known.
I love girls. Seriously. Wanna be my girlfriend? I like licking mommy's face and cuddling with her. But don't tell her -- if you'll hug me I'll be your boyfriend. Mom says I'm a big flirt...
What are you lookin' at?

So my parents say I've got some thing called Fanconi Syndrome. Happens to some of us Basenjis. Like I'm gonna let that get in my way of being the tough, trouble-making guy that I am? No way! Fanconi, schmankoni!!!!
I'm gonna start taking some vitamins, bicarbs and stuff every day so I stay healthy and my kidneys keep working like they should. I think they work fine now -- Mom and Daddy say I pee like no one else can! I keep some of mom's plants watered.....
Anyway, Mom is taking me in for ANOTHER blood test today. Don't they have enough of my blood already? What are they trying to do, clone me?
And hey, who wouldn't want to clone me? I'm so fine -- seriously. Just look at me! Girls dig me!
Thanks to all my pawsome BRAT and Dogster friends who have sent me rosettes and supportive wishes this week. You all are the best. You made mommy cry..... she's emotional like that! It's nice to know you guys and gals got my back -- know what I mean? Ditto -- I there for y'all, too!
Have a groovy 4th of July .... rock on, America!

This is a fun game -- my two roomies got tagged this week, and now me! So here goes:
(Hint: Copy and paste the rules so you don't have to type them again):
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their diary the rules and their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!
-----------------------------My 7 Pawsome Facts-----------------------------
1. I love soap bubbles from the bathtub. Mom blows them at me and I chase them around the bathroom... then I eat 'em!
2. I will shake your hand, hop up and dance, sit and lie down on command.
3. I love sleeping next Mom best -- on my side, head on the pillow, belly under the covers... just like a person!
4. I crawl up on Daddy's neck and rub my face on his hair... I love whatever product he's using on that hair!
5. When my food bowl is empty, I lie down next to it, and "pop" it loudly with my paw, sometimes turning it over! I keep doing it until someone fills it up with food again.
6. As soon as mom throws her clothes into the hamper each night, I crawl into the hamper and pull out a choice item for myself -- perhaps a blouse or her pajama top. But then I get bored and I leave it on the bathroom floor.
7. As soon as all of our toys have been picked up and placed in a basket, I systematically pull them out, one by one, and scatter them all over my dog bed, the living room rug -- everywhere!

So mom and dad took us to the dog park last week. It was a nice, cool, breezy fall Texas afternoon. Lots of different dogs to chase and hang out with. We were trotting around, sniffing butts and making friends, and then..... I saw her. She came in the gate from across the park.... her wild, shining red hair flowing in the breeze and shining in the sun as she trotted across the field.
I saw smitten.... right there. She was a lovely Irish Setter.... probably three or four times my size... dang, I love tall women! And she is younger -- I love those feisty young women! We romped and played for almost an hour. Other dogs came along... but we brushed them away. We only had eyes and sniffs for each other.
We rolled, we jousted, we ran in big circles around the benches where the lazy humans sit... it was magical!
I love everything about her... even that lovely emerald harness she was wearing. It really sets off her flaming red hair!
When we got tired... our parents said it was time to go home. I never even got her name! But I'd recognize her anywhere. That face, that trot, that lovely red hair! Her perfume -- Eau de Foxy!
I think I made a good impression on her dad, too. He seemed to be having a nice chat with my parents.... whew. That's a big hurdle....if you can impress a girl's dad.... you're in like Flynn!
I wonder what our kids would look like... oh wait, I can't have kids. Hmmmmm.....
Can't wait until the next dog park trip!
