can't wait for the weekend

Hi, I'm Otto. I'm the black-nosed puppy in the picture. I live in Houston with my mom, dad, and human mom and dad. I am about 5 weeks old. I still haven't met the fantastic wonderful people I am going to live with but I was reading human mom's e-mail and I see we are going to meet this weekend. Then in two more weeks I am going to go home with them.

We read that we are going to live with some people who had a 13-year old mix-up dog who was rescued from the railway. I am very glad that I will always get to live in a house with people. I also read that even though I am going to see my brother Boris a lot on weekends, we are going to live in different houses during the week. I am going to live in San Antonio and Boris is going to live in College Station. Not fair!!! He'll get to run off leash more than me!!!

I met my new human mom today. She tasted really good. She let me chew on her arm a long time.
She was going to take my sister Natasha but I made her fall in love with me instead.
My old human mom says that's OK, there are a bunch of people who want my sister Natasha.

Today i finally got out of the house. Man it was a drag living with my mom and dad. Now I have my freedom and I can try to chew on many more things. Like here in my new house in College Station they have cardboard boxes and old magazines and non-slip rugs in the kitchen and they are all delicious. Oh yeah, when I eat that stuff my new lady person friend puts a nylabone or a tennis ball-material toy in my mouth instead and those are freakin' awesome.
My new lady person friend and her man person friend left us alone in the house today and we got to sleep in super comfy wire boxes, right next to each other so I could touch Boris' nose with mine.
The only bad thing about today was that when i was in the car escaping from my old house to get to my new house i had to throw up twice. That didn't seem right at all. Boris didn't have to throw up, but then Boris was remaining calm and sedate and I was intent on making my escape.
My new lady person friend's man person just said "they are really cute when they are asleep" but I'm not really asleep, I am just thinking of all the great things there are here to chew.

this sucks

they don't let me eat the table, or the books, or the magazines, or the pillows, or the wall. They don't let me splash the water out of my bowl all over the floor. They DID get me a nifty rope toy which I adore because it is like the blankets they won't let me eat. Once while I was crated up I managed to get the handle off the crate into my bed with me, and guess what: THEY DIDN"T LET ME KEEP IT.
However, all in all, life is fun; I get to hide under the coffee table and tease Boris (he is too big) and then whip out and nip him before leading him a merry chase all around the room 10 times. Then guess what, I go under the coffee table again! That Boris is just a big lug! HaHa!
But I tell you what wow the food here is great. They give me all the puppy food I want, plus treats for doing my duty and for walking nice on the leash. The treats taste like bacon and I think pig must be the very best food in the world

San Antonio

Things are terrific here in San Antonio. I miss Boris but he's coming on Friday. I thought I wouldn't ever get outside off leash but actually there is a really nice front yard where my lady friend lets me go wherever I want. There are lots of steps and ledges and hiding places and the gardening crew has been digging lots of holes so there's plenty of fresh smells to explore. My fave thing is the scrub oak tree where the butterflies live. When I jump on the branches googles of butterflies come out!
In the back yard there is a tennis court that has mobs of fire ants so my lady friend doesn't like walking there, but she put down fire ant bait this morning so maybe they will die DIE DIEEEEEEE soon. I nudged an empty Coke can there the first day we were here and about 236,849 ants came charging out. Even I knew that wasn't good.

Boris came to visit! He my bro!
I showed him the stairs and the gates and the front walk and the butterfly oak tree and the garage and I showed him where the cats live but we didn't see them.
We walked past the house where the lady feeds a hundred doves. When you walk past there they all swoop upwards together and make a big whooshing sound, which is a little spooky but we are brothers so its OK

i don't really get it

here's how it goes. My lady friend gets down on the floor and sits there. she throws the Kong ball. She says in a goofy voice "fetch the ball Otto! Go get it! Get the ball! Fetch!" so i watch it bounce away, then it rolls, then sometimes it hits a wall and bounces or it hits a crack between tiles and bounces a different way---it keeps ricocheting around so i just stand and watch it. When it seems like it might be done bouncing around I sneak up to it, and when I'm one step away i watch it a little longer to make sure it is really stopped. Then I pounce on it to make sure it doesn't escape! Then i take it back to my lady friend and if she isn't falling over laughing she gives me a goodie.

I like College Station a lot

New Mom and I went to College Station for the weekend. I like it there because the yard is bigger and Boris and i can even go outside without the people. And there is a really good cushion on the back porch that I like to chew on.

We went to the groomer on saturday but she didn't groom us. we did get a shampoo but then she had to go. Just in time! saved by a phone call! Whew!

I got my last puppy shots on saturday so on Sunday new Mom took me to the park. she wanted me to meet a big orange dog but when we got close I was too scared. Actually i pooped on new Mom I was so scared. Ha! and then SHE felt guilty! Gimme props, dawgs!

I got to ride in the car sitting on the floor instead of in my crate for a short ride today. But on the ride to San Antonio I had to go in the crate. Pretty soon I'll be big enough to forget that crate.

Oh, we got to meet Nina! She came to meet us, all the way from St. Paul. She likes me the best.

Tonight I decided i better make sure I am not supposed to jump up on the box in the kitchen that holds the cooktop that doesn't fit in the counter. I kept jumping on it trying to jiggle the Coke can with pennies in it. I landed in time out 2 times.

Then i figured i better make sure I'm really not supposed to bite my new Mom. I bit her (I mean BIT her, not nuzzled or nipped or playfully bit) 2 times. I landed in time out 2 times.

It is best to be clear about these things. Don't you think?
