Arrival Story:
It was a sign at the side of the road that said Free Puppies. I stopped in and went around back. I saw a pile of puppies, when they saw me they all came running as if to say HI... how ya doing ...pick me pick me...then I looked over under the glider chair and there she was the little runt all by herself. I went to pick her up and she tried to make herself as small as possible and as far away from me as she could. When I finally pulled her out she was shaking. Well of course I had to take her. When I got her home the first thing she did when I put her on the floor was find something to hide under. I decided to let her hide; she would get use to us. A few hours later she came out from her safe place. I took her outside gave her a little food and water and put her back near her self proclaimed safe place. She went and hide for another hour or so. When my hubby got home she heard his voice and came out. She never hide again and from that day on she was DADDYS girl.

Tandy lies on the table,I hold her head with one hand and pet her with the other.she holds her head rigidly, resistively;she dosn't want to be here, nor do I.As the last of the hypodermic enters her body,it is over so quitley and so peacefully. As her head falls to the side i whisper to her "now baby you are free" I hope she hears it. "And that is it" It is a question/statement said in shock and astonishment, the last word becomes lost in grief.I can't believe how swiftly death has come. The doctor gives me an answer i don't want to hear then she and her assistant give us a moment alone. I unbuckle the collar and slide it out from beneath Tandy's neck.I don't resist the temptation to run my fingers through the thick fur one last time.I whisper in her ear "I Love You Girlie Girl and turn to walk out of the room knowing that one day I will see my sweetie again,it will be at Rainbow Bridge....

"God turns clouds inside out to make fluffy beds for the dogs in Dog Heaven, and when they are tired from running and barking and eating ham-sandwich biscuits,
The dogs find a cloud bed for sleeping. They turn around and around in the cloud... until it feels just right, and then they curl up and they sleep.
God watches over Each one of them And there are no bad dreams."

I'm Still Here

Your heart has been heavy since that day --
The day you thought I went away.
I haven't left you I never would --
You just can't see me, though I wish that you could.
It might ease the pain that you feel in your heart--
The pain that you've felt since you've believed us to part.
Try and think of it this way, it might help you see --
That I am right here with you and always will be.

Remember the times we were out in the yard,
You could not always see me yet I hadn't gone far.

That's how it is now when you look for my face --
I'm still right beside you, still filling my place.

I find it to be so very sad,
That seeing and believing seem to go hand in hand.
The love and the loyalty, the warmth that I gave,
You felt them, did not see them, but you believed just the same.

I walk with you now like I walked with you then --
My pain is now gone and I lead once again.

My eyes always following you wherever you roam--
Making sure you're okay and you're never alone.

Our time was too short, yet for me it goes on--
I won't ever leave you, I'll never be gone.
I live in your heart as you live in mine--
An enduring love that continues to shine.

The day will come and together we'll be,
And you'll say "take me home boy", and once again I will lead.

Until that day comes don't think that I've gone--
I'm right beside you, and my love it lives on.
