Arrival Story:
My new foster mom was walking out of the ASPCA empty-handed when an employee got in the elevator and mentioned to another employee that she had a peke hanging out in her office. One thing led to another!

I was called "Sushi" at the pound, but that name was ridiculous. I have been renamed for Henry VIII because I have red hair, am kind of portly and have a grumpy face. I am a foster dog right now. Something is wrong with the pad of one of my paws and they are trying to figure out what it is before the adoption is finalized. I like to lick my paw till Mom yells, "Henry!" Today she was crying because the vets think I might have degenerative disk disease, which the late Mr. Chubbs suffered terribly from. Now I have to take a bunch of pills. The ASPCA told Mom she didn't have to keep me but I am irresistable and so far I am staying. I am on "bed rest" though and have to stay as still as possible. That is easy because I have been spending a lot of time in the kitchen or the crate anyway while I prove that I am housebroken. Also being behind bars protects me from my mean sister Gigi. (Mom called a dog trainer today to work on Gigi's attitude. Ha!) I can also walk around the house with Mom if I stay on the leash. But walks outside have to be short while I rest my back. ETA: Of course I was adopted. How could they resist? I still have a bum paw but it gets me a lot of attention!

I haven't written in a very long time but it's not my fault! See, I need to spend a lot of time licking my bad paw. And licking and licking and licking and licking and licking and licking and licking and licking and licking and oh no! Mom has put the "cone of silence" back on my head. Despite several vet visits recently due to an excessively licked paw, no one has figured out what my condition is. Mom is talking about making an appointment with a different dermatologist, and that would be upsetting because I don't like the vet, but I'm not that worried since she's also been talking about bringing me to obedience classes...since July 2006! What a lazy woman.

I was looking back on my original bio and laughing into my paws. To think I was ever worried about Gigi! Well, I've taught her who is boss now. When she runs down the hallway, sometimes I grab onto her tail and get pulled along like a water-skiier. Fun!

I got some medicine for my eye and am doing better. Dr. Jennifer said I didn't have an ulcerated cornea and Mom was so relieved. The doctor wanted to look around my eye to see if I had an inward growing eyelash that was bothering me but I got so upset she had to stop because she was worried that my eye would fall out! It happens, you know. Luckily it didn't happen to me, but one of my little teeth did fall out because I never got good dental care as a pup.
