Beware of Mama's bearing gifts...

So I got some new yummy treats and a new collar and I think life is great-NOPE. I heard mom ask PJ if he wants to go with her to take me to the vet on Monday. She told him it is like when he goes to the doctor and she will get a shot. He actaully wants to go see this! My boy is letting me down-he should have said no shots!!! UGH. You think you raise them right but you never know. Then "she" says after I get my shots this week I can go get my hair cut in a week or two. It just never ends. I work all the time to keep the family safe from rabbits and crickets and spiders. I try hard not to eat all the boys toys. I learn new tricks that I don't see any point to but I do it (please tell me why I have to stand on my hind legs now when someone says "reach for the sky" and I do not need to jump through a hula hoop for a treat, I can walk around it but I don't). I do all this awsome stuff for the mama and now she is going to trick me into a vet trip? Do you know that I have never bitten the boy-not once, not when he yelled pony and tride to ride on my back, not when he grabs my chewies. I have never been ugly to the cat. I don't get the mom. And she actually told me some dogs in the world never see a vet and don't get good kibble every day or have a warm dry place to sleep so I should be thrilled to get taken care of. I swear-I don't know why all the TV news folks just went on and on about the vetting process this summer because I sure wouldn't mind a little less vetting on my side.

Mom added some new pictures of me today. Just hangin' out at home-playing in the yard (mom taught me how to climb up the ladder to get in the little boys climber toy-thanks to Star on GAD mom is all about teaching me new things of late), sitting under my favorite tree, and one of me pointing a cricket that got in the house. Hey-it's a valid point! I am showing her with my head and eyes where it is and since it is little I just decided to get low to make it clear I found it. Ignore the seemingly relaxed frog dog pose-that was to give the game a feeling that I was not a threat so mom could take aim. Well in this case, scope it up with a paper and put it outside. Oh and notice my sharp new Lupine collar (Muddy Feet print) mom got that from the ABR Auction to benefit the Senior Britt Retreat! I get to look even lovelier and it helped to raise money for an awesome cause. I hope soon all my older Britt Buddies have a special place to call home and enjoy their golden years. Wait maybe that should be called our Orange Years-hehehehe. Have a fun week:)

Summer Livin'

It is hot here this week. I love the AC-I would give it dog bones to keep it happy if I could. Little man had his birthday this weekend-turned 3 years old. Wow. Seems like just yesterday he and I were just little pups with nothing but playtime and naps. Now he is learning new things-like we live in a neighborhood and people that help in our community, have you ever heard such stuff? He tells me all about it-very interesting. He also taught me some songs and we count-I have four feet if you weren't sure. And two eyes and ears. Careful though-some counting can lead to getting poked in one or two eyes. He is getting so big-he helps me a lot with feeding me, giving me my vitamins (he can count those too), giving me a bath, and checking to see if I have water.

I am still doing good with my out of crate time-so well that now short of the humans being gone for 3 or more hours, I am free to just chill in the house. Some of those "neighbors" have told mom when she is out how pretty I am and that they love to see me in the yard pointing birds or laying down and quietly watching the bunnies just a few feet away (no barking and such) and they love to see me in the picture window looking out. Of course, PJ told one neighbor that I had just pooped in the back yard yesterday-everyone laughed and mom got a tad red. Well, how did she think I felt-I was doing so good at being a nice respectable girl and the boy tells them that I "pooped". He also alleged I have chewed a few toys and have to get time out in my crate when I do. Chewed is such a subjective thing-I say they were relocated to a space behind the chair via my mouth.

And I am still helping mom with her migraines-getting good at predicting those. I alert by sniffing one nostril (on my mama) in what she now calls "in-your-face medical assesments". But the side of her nose I 'niff, is the one the migraine starts on. Also-this past weekend my little man got his first bee sting. Actually-9, he knocked over a birdhouse in the flower bed that was just decorative and it had bees in it and they got him even as mom ran to scoope him up and get him inside. It was awful-I was scared and just ran behind them wimpering and nubby tail tucked. Once he had Beandryl and some cream on the stings it was better-I stayed by him and licked his face and hands. Mom said the only good thing was he doesn't seem to be allergic.

Finally, we are watching a new show now on TV that we love. I think it is about how well us dogs make our people behave, the other night when Star (she is our fave) got hurt on that show--my little guy sat and held my paw and checked my ears and kept asking if that "katie dog on TV" was ok. How sweet is that, he thinks that TV star is like me. Mom even decided to teach me a trick she saw them do-now I can shake with my left or right on command or by a hand cue. Took mom a few goldfish crackers and about 20 minutes to teach me that one. Darn-I am one smart little dog, maybe it's a Britt thing. BOL.

Warm out today

Warm out yesterday too. Ugh. I do not like heat-mom says I get that from her. Took little one to his pool today-mom set it up on the carport for shade. Lots of fun till it somehow got popped. PJ and I watched the water run out to the driveway and down to the road like a little river and then birds came to splash in it. Nice break and even better we got to go inside to the AC. Mom told dad no outside time today other than potty breaks. As PJ says "it to hot for outside now". I will just watch the birds from my window and wait on the fam to regroup after work and day care. I am a fall and spring dog-not to hot and not to cold.

Aww geez, I'm naked!!!

Sorta! Mom finally decided that the whole thing with my fluffy fine hair and the endless grooming to clean me up was not fair to any of us-I was getting bathed too much and she was getting the little man to help with my baths and cleanup because he was missing time with us. So to the groomer I went-a place close by that I like to go stay the night at once in a while. Well, la de da, look at me now baby!!! Aren't I the bomb? I mean-I liked my long hair but now I have a short new do and feel all pretty. I think it's like being Katie Holmes, minus Tom Cruise and a weird religous affiliation. Wait, do Episcopals fall into that-I doubt it. Anyway-loving the hair. Mom and the family love it too. Mom says it is like when I was a puppy. Easy clean up too and no hair on the sofa this weekend. Mom is planning to keep me like this now.

One BIG downside. Not sure if it is me looking for shade under the trees in the yard, just a random thing, or *gulp* something that has gone unnoticed till now but I got pooped on by birds today. Not once but three times! Mom didn't think so at first and said I must have more white on me than she knew and told me to sit still for a picutre in the yard. And then it happened AGAIN. On my head that time-no missing it. Mom brought me in for a rinse off and was asking me if this was a common issue for me or a new thing cause either way it is nasty and a little embarassing that me, a bird dog, is getting a drive by pooping by the fowl in our yard. Needless to say, I have no outside pics today. I need to rest-I feel so, discouraged by the drive by mess. But then again maybe they are just mad cause they know I look FIERCE in this short cut! I was really working my new look today so maybe I just scared the, well you know out of them because they couldn't stand to look at my graceful beauty. BOL-or maybe I just sat under the big tree for way too long today. At least now if I role in something in the yard it will rinse of easier.

Look at me reading my book

OK-I was trying to read it. Mom took some pictures today and wanted one of me and PJ together. But since neither of us know the meaning of "sit still" it didn't work out. So she got some pictures of me and one of my little buddy and his stuffie that he said looks like me. We watched the Fox and the Hound tonight-for the record, I am anti-hunting and was told by my much loved boy that the fox was his favorite, mama had to like the dog. A fine how do you do. And there is a picture of me chewing something outside-well all I can say is if the people don't want you to eat a toy then you don't pack it with food in a thing called a Happy Meal!

Woof-I am in print!!!

Go me, go me-and PJ too! Mom got her copy of Lisa Wogan's "Dog Park Wisdom" over the weekend and there it was-in print-my name and PJ's name as contributors to her book. I was just busting with excitment. Mom is reading it to me (for obvious reason's) and the book sure enough has some info in it that mom gave to Ms Wogan. Things that she did to help me and little mister get along better. She said she was very proud of me and that I must be a very special girl for sure-like she didn't know already. PJ doesn't get the deal-but hey doggy 2 years old is very different for people 2 years old so being the more suave of the pair I will fill him in. He did like the pictures of dogs in the book so that is good. To celebrate mom let him pick out a new "stuffie" as we say and he picked a stuffed dog that looks like me so I can go with him anywhere! How awsome is my tiny man! Mom siad she must get some new pictures of us up on my page soon. Maybe one of me reading my book mom?

On another note-I rock because I saved mom and the boy this weekend by pointing out to her that we have a coyote in the yard. Dad has borrowed some night vision goggles from a pal of his to check this out. I needed no such help to tell this thing was around. But over the weekend mom took me out for my bedtime walk and I jumped in front of her and got a mean dog look that she has never seen and she finally looked around and saw the coyote over by the little boy's swing. She told dad it was either a huge fox or a coyote. Dad thinks coyote. So I got head rubs and kisses for alerting her to this issue and now I can't go outside without a leash after dark, somehow I don't see that as a plus.

And I am doing a bit better with Riley-he comes upstairs now without always a major fight between us. He still likes his basement space better-but that is not my fault since I am not the one who stands and yells "Kitty come over here and I give you a hug-KITTY". I try to tell Riley that PJ means well he is just loud and not always predictable so you have to be a little careful when you deal with him-little humans can be a lot to take on.

Wags and wiggles-gotta patrol the yard.
