Warm out yesterday too. Ugh. I do not like heat-mom says I get that from her. Took little one to his pool today-mom set it up on the carport for shade. Lots of fun till it somehow got popped. PJ and I watched the water run out to the driveway and down to the road like a little river and then birds came to splash in it. Nice break and even better we got to go inside to the AC. Mom told dad no outside time today other than potty breaks. As PJ says "it to hot for outside now". I will just watch the birds from my window and wait on the fam to regroup after work and day care. I am a fall and spring dog-not to hot and not to cold.

I am a Diary Central Pick of the Day today! Go me, go me-doing my happy dance. Mom said she was very proud of how well I am typing now and I should get a little treat tonight. Yeah! Better rest up and get ready for fun tonight.

Sorta! Mom finally decided that the whole thing with my fluffy fine hair and the endless grooming to clean me up was not fair to any of us-I was getting bathed too much and she was getting the little man to help with my baths and cleanup because he was missing time with us. So to the groomer I went-a place close by that I like to go stay the night at once in a while. Well, la de da, look at me now baby!!! Aren't I the bomb? I mean-I liked my long hair but now I have a short new do and feel all pretty. I think it's like being Katie Holmes, minus Tom Cruise and a weird religous affiliation. Wait, do Episcopals fall into that-I doubt it. Anyway-loving the hair. Mom and the family love it too. Mom says it is like when I was a puppy. Easy clean up too and no hair on the sofa this weekend. Mom is planning to keep me like this now.
One BIG downside. Not sure if it is me looking for shade under the trees in the yard, just a random thing, or *gulp* something that has gone unnoticed till now but I got pooped on by birds today. Not once but three times! Mom didn't think so at first and said I must have more white on me than she knew and told me to sit still for a picutre in the yard. And then it happened AGAIN. On my head that time-no missing it. Mom brought me in for a rinse off and was asking me if this was a common issue for me or a new thing cause either way it is nasty and a little embarassing that me, a bird dog, is getting a drive by pooping by the fowl in our yard. Needless to say, I have no outside pics today. I need to rest-I feel so, discouraged by the drive by mess. But then again maybe they are just mad cause they know I look FIERCE in this short cut! I was really working my new look today so maybe I just scared the, well you know out of them because they couldn't stand to look at my graceful beauty. BOL-or maybe I just sat under the big tree for way too long today. At least now if I role in something in the yard it will rinse of easier.

OK-I was trying to read it. Mom took some pictures today and wanted one of me and PJ together. But since neither of us know the meaning of "sit still" it didn't work out. So she got some pictures of me and one of my little buddy and his stuffie that he said looks like me. We watched the Fox and the Hound tonight-for the record, I am anti-hunting and was told by my much loved boy that the fox was his favorite, mama had to like the dog. A fine how do you do. And there is a picture of me chewing something outside-well all I can say is if the people don't want you to eat a toy then you don't pack it with food in a thing called a Happy Meal!

Go me, go me-and PJ too! Mom got her copy of Lisa Wogan's "Dog Park Wisdom" over the weekend and there it was-in print-my name and PJ's name as contributors to her book. I was just busting with excitment. Mom is reading it to me (for obvious reason's) and the book sure enough has some info in it that mom gave to Ms Wogan. Things that she did to help me and little mister get along better. She said she was very proud of me and that I must be a very special girl for sure-like she didn't know already. PJ doesn't get the deal-but hey doggy 2 years old is very different for people 2 years old so being the more suave of the pair I will fill him in. He did like the pictures of dogs in the book so that is good. To celebrate mom let him pick out a new "stuffie" as we say and he picked a stuffed dog that looks like me so I can go with him anywhere! How awsome is my tiny man! Mom siad she must get some new pictures of us up on my page soon. Maybe one of me reading my book mom?
On another note-I rock because I saved mom and the boy this weekend by pointing out to her that we have a coyote in the yard. Dad has borrowed some night vision goggles from a pal of his to check this out. I needed no such help to tell this thing was around. But over the weekend mom took me out for my bedtime walk and I jumped in front of her and got a mean dog look that she has never seen and she finally looked around and saw the coyote over by the little boy's swing. She told dad it was either a huge fox or a coyote. Dad thinks coyote. So I got head rubs and kisses for alerting her to this issue and now I can't go outside without a leash after dark, somehow I don't see that as a plus.
And I am doing a bit better with Riley-he comes upstairs now without always a major fight between us. He still likes his basement space better-but that is not my fault since I am not the one who stands and yells "Kitty come over here and I give you a hug-KITTY". I try to tell Riley that PJ means well he is just loud and not always predictable so you have to be a little careful when you deal with him-little humans can be a lot to take on.
Wags and wiggles-gotta patrol the yard.

Well we moved in back in November and we were settled in by Thanksgiving. It was a crazy holiday-lots to do and lots to sniff. I love the new place. Lots of folks near us now and I have made new dog pals and watch the neighborhood kids play and skateboard. I am still using my electronic fence and do great with it. The backyard has lots of these really tall trees and the birds and squirrels are all over them so I point like a mad girl when I go out. The house is bigger so more space is good for me. See that fireplace in the picture-on either side are these little nooks and mom got me fancy dog pillows so I can go back in there and hide. I love it! My boy follows me in there a lot. I have my crate in his bedroom now-we are best of pals.
Mom is happy that I am proving to be better behaved since the move (I don't eat nearly as much of my boys stuff-actually just one link to a Thomas train track and a happy meal toy, hey that thing smelled like FOOD). In fact, I did so good that about a month ago mom started leaving me out fo the crate at night. I sleep in the chair in my boy's room, by mom and dad's bed on the floor (till dad goes to work-then I get in the bed), or in my nook. I only go in the crate when the people leave the house. I have also shown mom I am a great migraine predictor now. I can tell she is getting one, I stick close, lick her forehead if she gets near me, and keep her company if her head wakes her in the night. She says if I Velcro dog for no reason she better take her pill cause a migraine is coming. I could do it all along-she just now noticed it. I gotta say that this move thing has been great and I love being more of an in town dog. Counrty life was ok but the sights and sounds of our little neighborhood can't be beat. Mom says she should call me Zsa Zsa. Was that a lady who didn't like cows much? Better run-dad is making plans to finish off the basement and make a rec room, I need to go put in my design plans-dog doors, hot and cold running kibble fountains...

Mom and dad are very excited about something called a new house. We have one so I don't know what the deal is. Mom says we "rent" this house and that after looking for a while that they found a house to buy. Mom says I will like it since it's bigger. And it has a basement I can play in when it is cold and wet outside (still have to go outside to potty however). She said it is not even 5 minutes from the Greenway so we can go for walks all the time. The new neighbors have dogs so I can make some pals maybe. I just don't get all the fuss. But she and dad are thrilled. Tom and Riley bad cats said they don't care-the people will do the heavy lifting and as long as the beds and litter box make the trip it matters not to them. I plan to stay close to my boy till this all plays out-safety in numbers.

I don't need no dog beds,
tell momma that is what I said.
I don't want a dog bed
cause I got me this little couch instead!
A poem by Katie in reply to my mom's concern that I have no cute dog bed because I like to chew things like that up. As you can see from the picture I make do with the love seat.

Well-it's been busy here. My little person turned 2 years old. In dog years I think he his able to get his learner's permit now-I hope he will take me to the park or on a shopping trip on that fine looking power wheels he has. They had a nice party for him a few weeks ago and lots of folks came to see him. I got him a little toy dog that looks like me and he sleeps with it now! The party was a week before his birthday so on his actual birthday mom took cupcakes to his day care and he got a party there and then mom took him out to his fave place for "pasghettie"-dad had to work that day. There was also more cake-but I didn't get a taste since it was chocolate (boy gave me a lick of icing that was vanilla-yum).
Then last Sat mom and my guy took me to the vet for my annual check up-the vet set I was a fine little Britt and as nice as could be. He made such a fuss over me mom thought he might try to keep me! My little person rubbed my head and said "it ok Katie" when I got blood taken and my shots done. Mom was proud of how good I was. I rested Saturday after that. But Sunday to the park for a good walk and I met HIM. Winston, a lovely liver and white Britt who is 11 years old. He was so handsome and sweet. I am in love. His mom said that he is still acting like a pup and is on the go all the time. His mom and my mom talked and my boy shared some goldfish crackers but I was just smitten. We hung out for about 15 minutes. What a dog! In the car going home my boy said "I want doggy" and mom said I was right next to him and he said "no want katie dog dat" and she said you want the other dog "yeah" so you want to dogs like Katie "yeah want two good katie dog". Mom is sold on the idea, but dad isn't so sure. I don't know if I want to share the family just yet-the 2 bad kitties are plenty of trouble! This weekend is going to be trips to the park and maybe a hike on the National Parks trail near our house. Life is good.

First-tomorrow is my boy's birthday and he is 2! Happy Birthday little buddy!
Now-Tag!!! Savannah Blue Belle tagged me so now I tag:
Daisy Mae-We love your blog! It's a great pick me up on a blah day. You are the cutest little pup and seeing you have fun is great. And it makes me happy mom can't find outfits like your's to fit a 40 pound girl:) But you pull it off with charm to spare-we love that about you.
Morgan-Cause you love LOST too and you have such neat ideas on the show. And well, you are a fellow Britt. Maybe it's our intellegence that lets us enjoy LOST?
Audrey-Cause no matter what I do lately mom says "could be worse, you could eat the water spicket and flood the yard". I love a girl that makes me look behaved by comparison:0 Don't worry though cause with that pretty Newf face how could anyone stay mad at ya! I couldn't-wags and love!
So now each of you should tag three pals and let them know why you think they are great!

Well, this weekend it has been one year since I came to my people! Mom says she can't remember not having me around anymore-it just seems like I have always been with them. Mom and PJ made it a special day for me today. We got up and I got to go out to play in the yard-no rushing back in so mom could get to work. Dad was working today so he missed out on the fun. After everyone got up and had some breakfast, mom gave me a bath and trimmed a few hairs (ok not a treat for me, but she seemed to have fun making a fuss over me and PJ helped out by giving me treats). Once I was dry we got in the car and went to the Greenway! Joy of joys. And mom said that we had no where to go after so we could walk all I wanted.
PJ had goldfish crackers and juice in his stroller and mom and I walked for an hour. We met kids on bikes, people walking by, and a Lab! He stopped for sniffs and turns out his mom has a Britt at home who is 10! She said I was very pretty and so well behaved-she can't walk her Britt without being drug at top speed. She was amazed that I could walk so well with the stroller (mom uses one hand to hold my leash). Mom normally says things like "oh she can be a handfull" or "we were just lucky"-today she rubbed my head and said "with a bit of work she has turned into a great dog". I was so proud of me!!! We just wish dad could have heard the compliment-he thinks I am crazy still.
Well, after our pawsome walk we got in the car and went to this place where people handed us food from a window? It was wild, but smelled good. The girl in the window said I was very cute. Guess the bath paid. We got home and mom and PJ sat down for lunch-and guess what! There was 1/2 a plain burger for me to eat!!! It was so good. And then mom said that there was cake-PJ got real excited about this. She had party hats and birthday plates (not really my birthday but it worked). She and my boy had cake, I had 3 special dog cookies from a bakery!! And then presents-I got some treats, some new soft towels, and an orange bone with spike-for the girl who will and does chew up everything, a bone that looks major tough! After all that we all needed a good nap. Wow what a day-here's to another pawsome year!

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!
1. My family came to see me with my mom and dad on Father's Day weekend last year.
2. I love to go for car trips-my favorite is going to pick up my little guy at his day care center!
3. If mom doesn't pay attention to me, I grab something from the boy's toy basket and run off with it. Mom is never amused with this.
4. I love to watch birds.
5. I slobber way more than mom thought a mid-size dog could.
6. I like to help mom tuck my boy in bed at night and wake him in the morning.
7. I was named for two things-1. the little guy could say Kitty very well and the folks thought Katie wasn't a big stretch 2. mom's favorite tv show has a girl named Kate on it!

Mom is very sad over the events this week at her beloved Va Tech. Our little Thomas was adopted from the local shelter there and is a Hokie cat-he lived with mom her junior and senior year there. And mom's friends tease her that she really picked a Britt cause I am orange for VT. Mom says that things will return to normal but we can't ever forget what happened. Why are some people so mean?
We send a cheer to all our fellow Hokies and we hope that the injured recover soon, those lost in this tragic event find peace, the friends and families of those affected find some comfort, and all of the members of the Va Tech family (students, faculty, and alumni) can pull together and find comfort in the strong community that is so much a part of Tech. Love to all of you!

Mom cut my hair today. Notice there aren't pictures-what does that say? She said she will "fix it" on Saturday after she looks into this whole thing some more. I am not impressed. And my granny gave her the clippers to do this with. Bad humans, very bad. She said it would look "cute"-clean up my face a bit and keep my "underparts" a little cleaner. Just a little hair cut no big deal and she could save the costs of a groomer since my last trim was $35 and she felt she could do that. I plan to walk myslef to the groomers later and fix this-the cats will show me how to use a credit card!

Daddy-yes Daddy-was so impressed with my high jumping talents that he put me on the web! Mom was very shocked and proud! She did say that if she had known this would be all over the place, she would have prefered to have not been in her "around the house bumming" clothes. Don't know what that means but look at me go!

Mom had the day off and so did dad. One of dad's pals brought his dog, Buddy, by for some play time! We stayed outside and enjoyed the 65 degree jan day (mom tells me this is not normal). It was great. As you can see I had to show Buddy how to point. Mom even got an action shot of me! I had free reign, but buddy had to be tied since he doesn't have a special outside free play collar like I do-but we still wore each other out. After I take a bath (got a bit dirty) then I will go to pick up my little guy at day care-what a day, hope it stays nice!

Just a quick note-it was a great Christmas! Got lots of chew things and a new collar and leash. Lots of visitors too. The little guy got loads of stuff from Santa. We all had fun. Now the holidays are over and every one is back to the routine. My little guy started a new day care close to home-I got to go pick him up yesterday! He is upset though about the change. Mom says in a week or so he will be settled in and ok. I hope so. I also got a big dog hair cut! Busy times.

Dear Santa Paws-
Licks and wags. Also I will try not to bark at your rain deers when you come over. Mom says you will sneak in and leave presents for everyone who was good all year and I shouldn't bark at you. Let me say that the holes I dug in the yard, the toys I have eaten, and the indescretion with the poop were all terrible mistakes made by a young pup and should not count against me. I try to be good. I never have bitten the boy-even when pulled on, wooled on, and given well meaning pats. Even when he grabs my food or toys-I just share. I try to listen to mom but sometimes I am so excited to see her I forget to pay attention to her words but I didn't mean to be bad. I try to make all visitors feel welcome and greet them with lots of happy wags. I don't pee in the house anymore-mom is really happy that I learned that very quick.
I help around the house-I tell mom when the baby needs a diaper, I keep a close watch on the house and my little boy. I help the boy to read becasue I let him read to me! I also try to help mom by cleaning his face and hands after everymeal and snack. I keep dad company when he is home and help with important things like going to the dump and running errands. Overall-I try very hard and I am good most of the times. So I hope I get the following:
A new collar and leash - everygirl likes new clothes!
A new big dog bone to chew on
A new Puzzle Bone cause it is my favorite bone ever
I hope you bring good stuff for the rest of the family too! Even the kitties deserve a good Christmas!
Warmest Wags and Holiday Licks-
Your friend, Katie

Mom talked to a bunch of Dogsters in the Brittany Group and got a ton of info on me and my recent coat issue. Mom had changed my food recently so that is starting to show some improvement. Now she is giving me some additional supplements and dinner is turning into an event! Yummy. She also found out I need to go to the groomers! So she is making an appt for me on Jan 2. The day my little man starts a new day care. Mom says this will force us to leave and not hide in the bushes and watch him from the window-BOL. Since he will be close I get to take him to school that day and pick him up! I am so happy.
Mom got this thing called a "Bonus" at work. So she said that she had to get some stuff on her wish list. She ordered a pirate ship playhouse for the yard, for me I guess and I can let PJ play too. And a slide-I don't like the sound of that so PJ can have it. And she got a bunch of DVD's for the family. Lassie is in one. And the best-I got a big crate!! I watched mom and dad build it and was a little worried at first. But when they got it done, I got a biscuit to eat and walked in and turned around and stood up and looked at mom and said "this is be-u-ti-ful". I have lots of space and can really stretch out. Mom said that was her gift from the bonus cause now she won't feel so bad about making me go to my crate in the morning. I think she is giving the old crate to the local spay clinic. I asked if this is my Christmas and mom said this was a "needed" thing and Santa brings toys-so I still get toys too! Christmas is pawsome!
And I was big girl last night. Mom walked me at 11 like always. And I went out to the end of the leash and growled and barked-then mom FINALLY herd them. There was a lot of running, growly/barkey sounds. Mom told me to pee fast and we went inside. She told dad and he says we have coyotes! Duh-I have been marking the yard for a week and patroling and "barking at nothing". Mom says that dad will call the animal control office today and until further notice I am not going outside alone at night and will be watched a lot closer durning the day if I am out. Mom doesn't want anything to happen to me. But she said I was a good girl for protecting all of us this week. I better ask for an extra treat from Santa for my watch dog work!
Merry Christmas-

Mom read a forum on nail trimming and guess what-she had to try agin. I got all my nails done, the fur between my pads trimmed, a bath, and a brushing. So the next day I wentout in the yard and dug a hole and rolled. It was great. Mom was not happy and guess what-I got another bath. So thanks to the nail trim thing I got two baths in 24 hours. I am still mad. I might not like the baths but I do like having the yard to play in now-I can run full speed. Dad said he didn't think he ever saw a dog run as fast as me. Mom says that I am a good girl but I am even better after playing in the yard. The other day I chased leaves all day while helping dad put latice around the side porch-where I used to like to go dig moles out-and that night I fell asleep right after dinner and didn't move for 4 hours. This week I will take down that latice stuff maybe.
Then, after 2 baths, mom tried to take my picture in a hat! No way. So I let her see me next to the hat. I am now working on my Santa letter. I need to see what things are out there before I decide. Can't rush something so important.

Mom updated a new picture of me and all the "pups" (my little guy PJ and my step girls Heather and Ashley). She said this was the best one of me but not the one going out in the Christmas card. I don't know what that means, but I look awful cute. Mom said she would have had us on the couch or something, but dad took the picture and he liked this old chair cause the little guy learned to climb up in it all by himself this weekend! I have been getting on furniture for ever-no one got that excited. But guy follows me in to the chair (which was mine cause it is old) and he shows me the pictures in his books. He means well so I look at them. People pups sure are funny.
And we had Thanksgiving this past weekend. Yum, I got turkey and ham and anything that my guy tossed off his tray-sweet!!! I hope that this Christmas thing has food. Mom put up decorations and dad put lights on the house on Saturday. I have a "stocking" right next to the guy. I think it gets filled up with toys some time in the night-the cats explained it to me. The cats have a hand made stocking up in mom's room. I could get used to all this holiday stuff. I am off to write a list of things that this Santa guy could bring!

Today is Halloween! I tried my costume out already for Halloween-mom put up a picture of me and my little guy. Since we are dressed up, I should point out that I am Winnie the Pooh and he is Piglet. He will be Trick or Treating tonight but I will stay in. Mom also put up a new picture of us on a succesful "duck" hunt and the little guy taking me for a walk while showing his Hokie pride! Fall sure is a busy time!

The warm weather is going and mom said Fall is in the air. So I am spending a lot of time niffing around for Fall. I had a blast at the doggy spa-I played with some other pups and just had fun. The lady at the spa told mom I was a bit to playful for the other dogs in more than small amounts. Mom said welcome to her world:) My big dog coat is in and looks so pretty-I am a redhead like the rest of the family. Mom put a picture of my up that shows how big I am getting now. Plus a few that she forgot she took!
I am still learning to play nice with the kitties. It is tough but I am working on it. And I am doing really good with my little boy-I don't knock him down much at all. Mom takes the two of us for lots of walks at the park-I protect them from leaves and walk by the stroller so the baby can rub my head. But I am now greeting people we meet along the way like a good girl and not jumping up on them. People always walk by us and tell mom "whew you got your hands full" but I don't know why-it's just me and the baby.
Well, woofs and wags for now. I have lots to do-there is a thing called Halloween on the way and I have to help decorate and then there are the mums to tend to outside. Plus this weekend is the Heritage Festival in our county so I know that Nana and Grandpa will stop by. I have so much to do to get ready. And soon it will be a holiday all about eating!?!! Is that not just teh greatest thing you ever heard of. Every day I learn something new!!

So much has been going on! Well, when I am not busy making mom crazy:) She really hops this is a puppy thing and I will calm down at some point-but she trys to be understanding. I do like to chew stuff up and I can hold my pee on that last walk before she goes to work like you would not believe. Anything to make mom and the boy stay longer.
So I finished my puppy class and got a certificate and everything. Mom was very proud of me! I didn't do good at the last class (test) but I really do know how to "sit", "settle" (down), "gentle" around baby-mom says this is the most important, "come", "wait" at the doors or for my food, "leave it". Mom says I should learn more but this is all right for now. Mom says we need to practice more often. I could do with out that part.
I got fixed last week too! Mom says I am a big girl now. I was sore for a day but by the end of day two I was ready to go full tilt again! Mom made me get in my crate some cause she was worried I would hurt my belly. But it is funny cause after my bad day-the cats like me more. When I came home and felt so bad, they came out and watched me in my crate and I didn't bark at them. Then they were ok coming out with me out of the crate. I learned not to bark at them at class-but I still got really wiggly around them. When I was recovering I was very calm. I think they liked it-mom sure did seem happy to think we might all get along some day.
And I am getting my bags packed to go to a doggy spa this weekend while mom and dad go on vacation. Whew-I am one busy puppy!!!

So I have been super busy and didn't update this in a while. And today I had to wait on the stupid cat to add a Catster page-took for ever. Lots going on-I added some pictures. One is me and the Peej, then one of me looking all "big dog" and stuff, and then one of me in a party hat. I only did that for the boy and mom to laugh-I didn't give her permission to take my picture or put it on here. Bad momma, very bad momma! I am still in puppy class-today we had to take PJ with us to class and he thought the other dogs were funny and the trainers horses came up for a closer look-I never saw those things so close up, awful big around the boy. Then mom and PJ took me to the vet for my final puppy shots! I did good, weigh 21 pounds now, but a dirty trick since our car rides are more about fun stuff. After that I slept a lot. Long day. In fact I better get back to that-need my strength so I can walk mom in the morning. That 7 am mile long walk don't happen by itself.

My little boy turned one this weekend. Mom and Dad had a big old party for him. There were lots of people-big and little. And I was the star of the show:) I didn't have any accidents, I played with the little kids and tried to be careful with them-hard because they move fast and jump around so I thought they wanted to be chased. I found a few folks who let me curl up on a warm lap. And I ate a little people food-hot dogs on the grill are good. I ate one before mom could catch me. And my little guy was good too-feeling better from surgery. I gave him lots of kisses and stayed close to him to be sure he was ok. Mom said I was super good. I even met my dog's-in-law, 3 big boxers. Lots of people told mom they wanted to take me home with them, she said not for all the money in the world. Guess that makes me her forever fur baby:) Now do I get a party like that when I turn one!!
Pictures to come-the cats have to teach me how to work the scanner!

Mom and I started puppy class and gosh it is great! She has a little thing that clicks and when I do a good thing it clicks and Bam-treats! The lady at class said I was smart to already know sit, be making such good eye contact with mom (I really was trying to listen and learn), and to be so good with everyone there. She even asked mom if we might want to join the therapy dog group she is in when we get older-because I was so well behaved and calm. My mom gave me lots of rubs and told me how proud she was of me. And I got to PLAY with a big collie pup-she knocked me down and mom got worried but I got up and chased her and after 15 minutes I was one tired pup! Can't wait to go back.
When we got home, mom and I practiced some more. I now go to my rug and sit and wait for clicks and treats. Mom said she needs to load up on treats since I am doing all kinds of things to get a click now-the easiest is to get in front of mom, look at her, and then sit down! And we got new neighbors yesterday-2 small, long black and tan dogs that mom called Hot Dogs. I am making a treat bag for them now to say hi. And I still have to take my mom and baby PJ to the Greenway for a long walk today. I am such a busy pup!
