 Quick Bio:
 Likes: Time with the family

Pet-Peeves: Missing a walk

Favorite Toy: Knuckle bone, Puzzle Bone

Favorite Food: PMI Exclusive

Favorite Walk: The Greenway walk path-paved so great for my son's stroller too

Best Tricks: Knows some basics (sit, come, down), can sit and "wait" to eat, learned some hand signals for fetch, can now give a high five

Arrival Story: My husband and I wanted to get a dog, so around the time of my son's first birthday we started the search. I had some breeds in mind but met a Britt at a local shelter and fell in love-he was a doll. I talked to ABR about him, but couldn't sell my husband on taking on an older dog even as a foster (he is a vol fireman and had worked a very bad dog attack only a month prior to this where the child almost died and he just didn't feel he could trust an older dog with our son). So I did some research on the breed, found a local breeder through AKC, the entire family went to meet the puppies and their parents, and Katie picked us. Well, she picked my son. Katie's mom is dual dog (she does confirmation shows and hunting trials) and dad hunts and has several titles under his belt now. Her grandad is also a hunter and has won several regional trials. Katie was not show quality so we were lucky enough to get her in our family!

Bio: Katie is a year old now-thank goodness, puppyhood is ruff! Katie passed a puppy class the first two months that she lived with us. She has managed to keep most of the info we learned-what she forgot is due to mom not practicing enough. She has her moments of naughty dog behavior, but overall is a good dog. She adores our son and spends a lot of her time following him around the house or resting on the sofa and watching him. To him, she is family-he calls her by name and loves to give her hugs. He can also get mad a her when she takes a toy of his-but they always make up. She is also a natural bird dog. She likes ot go out in the yard and point birds that go by-early morning and dusk are the best times to be outside. She now follows commands for easy up, whoa, and watch it-she would have made a first rate hunting dog. As it is, she is a first rate furry buddy and a champion love muffin!!!

Forums Motto: An older, wiser puppy now.

Warm out yesterday too. Ugh. I do not like heat-mom says I get that from her. Took little one to his pool today-mom set it up on the carport for shade. Lots of fun till it somehow got popped. PJ and I watched the water run out to the driveway and down to the road like a little river and then birds came to splash in it. Nice break and even better we got to go inside to the AC. Mom told dad no outside time today other than potty breaks. As PJ says "it to hot for outside now". I will just watch the birds from my window and wait on the fam to regroup after work and day care. I am a fall and spring dog-not to hot and not to cold.
Too hot to wag or wiggle-

I am a Diary Central Pick of the Day today! Go me, go me-doing my happy dance. Mom said she was very proud of how well I am typing now and I should get a little treat tonight. Yeah! Better rest up and get ready for fun tonight.
Happy Wags-

Sorta! Mom finally decided that the whole thing with my fluffy fine hair and the endless grooming to clean me up was not fair to any of us-I was getting bathed too much and she was getting the little man to help with my baths and cleanup because he was missing time with us. So to the groomer I went-a place close by that I like to go stay the night at once in a while. Well, la de da, look at me now baby!!! Aren't I the bomb? I mean-I liked my long hair but now I have a short new do and feel all pretty. I think it's like being Katie Holmes, minus Tom Cruise and a weird religous affiliation. Wait, do Episcopals fall into that-I doubt it. Anyway-loving the hair. Mom and the family love it too. Mom says it is like when I was a puppy. Easy clean up too and no hair on the sofa this weekend. Mom is planning to keep me like this now.
One BIG downside. Not sure if it is me looking for shade under the trees in the yard, just a random thing, or *gulp* something that has gone unnoticed till now but I got pooped on by birds today. Not once but three times! Mom didn't think so at first and said I must have more white on me than she knew and told me to sit still for a picutre in the yard. And then it happened AGAIN. On my head that time-no missing it. Mom brought me in for a rinse off and was asking me if this was a common issue for me or a new thing cause either way it is nasty and a little embarassing that me, a bird dog, is getting a drive by pooping by the fowl in our yard. Needless to say, I have no outside pics today. I need to rest-I feel so, discouraged by the drive by mess. But then again maybe they are just mad cause they know I look FIERCE in this short cut! I was really working my new look today so maybe I just scared the, well you know out of them because they couldn't stand to look at my graceful beauty. BOL-or maybe I just sat under the big tree for way too long today. At least now if I role in something in the yard it will rinse of easier.
Wags and wiggles-
