Scully is now enjoying the bridge buffet

It is with great sadness that I let all of Scully's Dogster pals know, my sweet houndette has made her journey to the Rainbow Bridge. She put up such a good fight with that awful cancer, but took a rapid decline yesterday. We knew it was time for us to free her from pain.

This is so hard, and I can't think clearly enough to know what to say right now. Scully was my first basset, and a dream come true. I know there will never be another hound like her.

Sweet angel Scully, I hope you know how much your mommy and daddy love you. You brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives, and we are so lucky to have been owned by you. Thank you for the best 11 and a half years of our lives. We miss you more than words can express, and will love you forever.

We got my lab results and it ain't good :(

After being in remission for 8 and a half months, my cancer has returned.

We're really bummed around here right now. At the moment, I'm not sure what course of treatment we are going to do. My humans are going to speak more with the vet tomorrow and hopefully will be able to think about it all clearly enough to make a decision about what is best for me.

Love and licks to all,
Scully

Here we go again...maybe.

Yesterday, my eyes started looking really puffy and red, so my humans took me to the vet this afternoon. To sum it up, my Momslave was particularly worried because this is what initially caused her to bring me to the vet back in October, which led to my lymphoma diagnosis.

Well, turns out that there may be a valid reason for that sick feeling in Momma's stomach. My lymph nodes are a bit enlarged, and the vet is concerned that the lymphoma may be back. We'll get the test results in a few days.

I do have a little ulcer on my eye too. Probably, from rubbing at it. I got some drops to make my eyes more comfortable.

We're trying to think positive, but it's kinda hard to ignore that gut feeling.

Will update when we find out the verdict...

I think the folks here at Dogster are on a mission to make me famous. First I'm 'Doggie of the Day' a few days ago, and now I'm 'Diary of the Day'! Makes me feel like I had better think of something interesting to come back and write about. hehehe

This has been fun, cuz well, it's no secret that I love to be the center of attention. But also, I'm happy to have all my new pals. Thanks to my new buds for befriending me! And thanks for the gifts, rosettes and pic comments too. (Speaking of which, I love that we can add picture and diary comments on here now.)

Well, I've gotta waddle along. My futon is calling out to me...

Luv & Licks,
Scully

Thanks Dogster....I feel all super special!! What a totally neat surprise to see that I'm the featured dog of the day today.

Thank you so much to everyone who's left me messages, friend requests, rosettes/special gifts, and photo comments. You all rock!

Now, I'm gonna go and spend the rest of my day making sure my momma gives me extra lovin' today -- in other words...gives me lots of extra treats!! ;-)

I AM SO DONE!!

I am home from the vet, and finished with my chemotherapy. For good. YAY!

Today, I was sent home with an entire pharmacy. Ok, so I exaggerate. But it sure is more pills than I've ever had to pop at one time. There's the usual anti-puking pills, some other pills to keep the tummy aches away, some Panalog cream to put on a little skin irritation on my leg, and some antibiotics because that skin thingy is a bit infected. Luckily, all 3 meds, as well as the cream, are to be given every 12 hours, so they can all be done at the same time. My daft mom would go loopy if she had to give them at different time intervals. lol

Now, I just live life as usual, and go back for a check-up in 3 months to make sure those lymph nodes are still nice and tiny. The slaves are supposed to feel me up every once in a while to check for anything abnormal. I think that will have to be the dadslave's job because momma is such a head case when it comes to me lately. If I even look at her the wrong way, she freaks out and thinks something is deathly wrong with me.

So, there's my little update for today. I'm pretty happy that I don't have to go back for those treatments anymore. And, best of all, I am feeling great these days. Even put on a couple of the pounds I had lost.

I just gotta say another thanks to my super supportive friends who have been there for me and my mom through this. All the love, drool, thoughts, prayers, kind words, and offers to lend an ear if needed mean so much to us. My mom hasn't been able to really talk about it all -- still can't without turning to mush -- but just knowing that people were there if she needed has been a comfort.

Luv and Licks to all,

A quick little update

I'm trying to keep my updates to a minimum, but for those who have been keeping up with how I'm doing, here's the latest....

I had the usual bloodwork done yesterday, and the vet just called with my results. In his words..."She's doing really well." My blood cell counts are absolutely fine, which is a good thing. They also did a full blood panel this time around, and everything looks great. All organs are functioning properly. There is one liver enzyme that is slightly elevated, but that is easily explained considering the drugs that have been pumped through me. The vet doesn't seem concerned about it in the least, so neither are we.

Tomorrow I go in for Round 4 of kicking cancer's ass. It's my second-last treatment.

So, at the moment, it looks like things are going pretty damn good. Hopefully, I can continue to do so well, and enjoy my spoiled rotten existence for a good long time to come.

Licks,
~Scully-Monster~

Round 2, here I come

I have been a wee bit neglectful about updating my diary here. My apologies.

Tomorrow, I go in for Round 2 of what I'm calling "Operation Kick Lymphoma's Ass" (aka chemotherapy). The first session went fine and I was doing very well afterward, until a week later. I seem to be one of the unlucky few that get a really upset tummy from the drugs. Phooey! I had a couple days where I just felt like crap, but I bounced back to being my perky ole self.

Hopefully I won't have as much of a problem with the tum-tum this time, but we shall see. Now that we know I'm prone to having an issue, the vet will give me some drugs for that right away, which should help.

Well, off to sleepyland I go. I pawmise to be better about letting my Dogster pals know how things are going!

Luv, Licks and drool to all who need it,
~Scully~

Some not so great news :-(

Greetings and arrroooos!

My foodslaves just got back from the vet with me. They took me for a checkup because momma thought my eyes looked a little weird, and also thought she felt a little swelling on one side of my neck. I got a thorough exam, and it is looking like I may have lymphoma. (I cannot believe I just typed those words!)

The eyes are a little dry and the pressure is low, and the vet thinks that is a symptom of something going on internally. She also did an aspirate of my lymph nodes, which looked "not so nice". I will get the results on Tuesday, along with bloodwork results.

My humans are heartbroken and scared to death about what they will hear on Tuesday. The vet did seem optimistic that with chemo, they could have another couple years with me though. Still, this is something they really were not expecting at all because I seem so healthy.

So, pawleeeeze, if anyone has any spare drool they can sling in my direction, my foodslaves and I would really appreciate it!!

Now, I'm gonna go and let my momma wipe her tears in my velvety earsies.....

Luv and licks to all,

~Scully-Monster~
