One year without you Buddy

A year ago I lost my best bud. We got up on a regular Monday and he obviously was in distress. By the end of the day you would be gone. I don't remember a lot of the day but I know you were in pain and they finally took you to surgery around 5 pm and you never came back. The details are not as important as it is for me to say here how much I loved and still love you. I miss our mornings in the back yard, walks along the river and just hanging at the coffee shop. I don't really do any of those things now. Jesse has joined us but she is not at all like you. I guess when you were young you were pretty intense but you mellowed and became my best buddy. I am sorry for all the time you spent alone and I wish I could have been home from work more. I know you enjoyed your "alone time" and having you own door made it so you could go lay outside in sun when ever you wanted. We would often come home and find you soaking up the sun. After Chloe I thought I'd never find another dog that could melt my heart the way she did, but you did it. I think of you everyday and will until I die. I look at your picture everyday and remember something about you. I know there are details I've forgotten already but I will always remember you resting on the floor with me at night and how much I loved you. I miss you. Love Dad.

Jesse keeps me busy but when I finally have a moment my mind turns to you. I feel so much sorrow about losing when you deserved so much more. You were supposed to get to be an "old man" and you were cheated out of that. I'm so sorry. I don't think there was much more I could have done that would have not been too painful and letting you go was still the best decision... doesn't make it any easier. I just miss you and wish you were here to share those quiet times again. Love Dad.

Losing my Best Friend

On July 13, 2015 I lost my best friend. Chopper taught me so much and he was my constant companion. He slept with me and always had to be touching me or be next to me. He insisted on his daily walks to checkup on the neighborhood. The kids in the neighborhood loved him dearly and always ran up to pet him with their words 'Chop Chop come here'. I didn't know I had to capacity to love a dog like this. When he looked at me, I could feel the love in his eyes. He was gentle, loving, loyal and did whatever we asked. He had several trips to the Vet and the Vet specialists with many pokes and prods and blood draws. He Never once complained and went willingly to the vet every time. He loved sitting next to me, while we both binge watched shows on Netflix. Of course, there was his snoring that was so cute during all this. He also insisted on his daily massages to keep his muscles in shape and help with his stiffness. He loved going to the farmer's market with Dad on the weekends and going to the coffee shop to be adored by all. Right now, I just can't imagine my life without him. Chopper, we love you. I hope you know how much you were loved by all and how much you are missed.

I lost you tonight my little man

Tonight I lost my best friend in the world. He had been ill for a long time but these last six months were a gift to have him seeming like his old self again. Then suddenly, literally overnight, he was sick and now tonight he is gone from the world leaving a gaping hole in my heart. I don't think I show ever know a kinder and more gentle boy to have been through so much in the last nine and half years of being poked and stuck and prodded. Allergies and a weak immune system were his biggest challenges, but somehow we got through it all until recently we couldn't defeat the big C. He did not suffer and was always loved and shall be missed and held in highest regard for as long as his mom and I are alive. We love you Chopper-man.

You are nearly 9 years old Mr. Man. You are slower but still have a bright expression behind some tired old eyes. You sleep a little more now and limp sometimes but I hope you happy. We all love you so much and are so grateful to have you. - Love Dad.

Christmas 2012 was a great time. Chopper and Ivy went to downtown St. Charles, Missouri and sat in front of the coffee shop to enjoy the weather ( before it turned cold). Lots of people stopped by to chat, Wish us Merry Christmas, and Give lots of love to both pups.. Christmas day was cold and a fire kept us all warm until we all collapsed to watch an old christmas movie 'The Bishops Wife'...

Well, Mom and Dad took me to the annual Bully Bash in st. Charles, Missouri. It is a great event where all kinds of dogs come to meet up.. My Pit bull friends all come there and we have a great time. We dive for Tennis Balls, jump for treats, and have lots of fun..My buddy Victor also got his Therapy Dog Certification... I was so proud of him, that afterwards I went up and gave him a big Chopper lick on the face! Anyhoo, I ended up getting my picture taken at Bully Bash and the photographer said I was a 'handsome' looking boy.......

Choppy got the call Friday nite. Canine CookiesnCreme had An entry float in the 4th of July Parade and they needed dogs to walk with the float....Say no more...With beads, beach balls, and dog bones in hand---Daddy and Choppy walked the 4 mile parade route and had a blast. The float WON for best crowd appeal..Towards the end, Daddy was pouring water over Choppy to keep him coolled off. Every time the parade hit a shady spot, everyone laid down for a quick break....Choppy even got to ride on the float for a short while.....How exciting.....

Well, Spring is finally here. Mom & Dad took me to the annual Bully Bash where some of my Pit bull buddies got together to have a meet up.....One of my buddies actually passed his CGC ( Canine Good Citizenship) test and got a medal.... Daddy won a contest to guess the correct Dog Breed and won us a new Drinking bowl and some play toys... Good Dad! Mommy took pictures of me and the River City Rascal mascot. I got to greet a whole bunch of dogs. Some had their own t-shirts and some had Cardinal shirts and hats on. Dad put a yellow scarf around my neck for the event. Mom----how about a shirt or a hat next time? Bark in the Park is coming up...Can't wait for that-over 2000 dogs will be there.
Signing off for now---Choppy.
