Wow, what an honor! I can't believe Wrigley was the featured Diary of the Day on Saturday. I know he would think that is the coolest thing ever! I'm so grateful for all your kind words and support - thank you to everyone who's stopped by Wrigley's page and given gifts, dropped paw pal lines and for your pup pal requests. Wishing you all a very happy holiday season.

I'm So Sorry - Wrigley is gone

Hello,

I'm so sorry, but wanted to let you know Wrigley lost his battle with epilepsy early Thanksgiving morning. He'd been having seizures since that Monday, was at the ER, then our vet, and then back to the ER. We tried everything we could, even had Walgreen's hand-making a certain medicine for him! At one point we were hopeful they would let us bring him home, but with everything we tried, he was still seizing. After spending time with him, it wasn't fair to keep letting his body go through it anymore. We had to let him go. He was an amazing friend and such a brave soul. Our family is truly devastated, but I keep telling myself to think of him as a blessing, not a loss.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, especially my son, Max, who lost his "buddy".

September 3rd - Labor Day - Another Seizure

Crap...Wrigley had a seizure today. I'm not sure what's going on - we thought he'd be better after being on thyroid meds. (thinking there might be a correlation between the two.) At least it was only ONE and he seemed to come out of it "okay", but is completely wiped out! Will talk to the vet tomorrow.

GOOD TIMES - We went to the Dog Park and down to the lake on Saturday and Wrigley had a blast swimming after a tennis ball and seeing his old friends Brynn and Chole!

:)

August 19th Update

Hello! It's been a few months. Wrigley is doing well. He had 2 seizures about a week ago that were 2 hours apart - very scary! He broke one of his canines, but it looks to be okay. We're hoping that maybe he seizures are "seasonal" or related to allergies or something and that he only has a couple per year - will have to keep track of them over his lifetime.

He's lost 16 pounds since starting his thyroid medication and seems to feel so much better - more energy, alertness and is now waking us up in the morning instead of being so tired! We are grateful for our amazing doctors that have worked with us over the years. Looking forward to the cooler weather this Fall as it's been the hottest summer in Minnesota since 1988!

Thyroid Problem

We found out a couple of weeks ago that Mr. Wrigley has a thyroid problem - poor guy! He's on meds and is doing well - there could be a link between this and his seizures - we'll see! We were at the park the other week for about an hour and walked around on trails and Wrigley went swimming - he had so much fun! Looking forward to this spring, lots of walks and time in the water :)

Happy Birthday to you Mr. Wrigley!

Wow, Wrigley is 5 years old today. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. He got a present from his mama, CocoAnn and seemed really excited to see a picture of her. Wrigley has been doing AWESOME! He's back to chasing squirrels in the backyard and really loves eating the snow. We hope this year is especially a good one for him and that he can keep getting his legs stronger. We have A LOT of swimming to catch up on! Here's to you, my friend - thanks for letting us be your human family - WE LOVE YOU!

Well, just realized it's been quite awhile since our last entry. I think this is good sign as Wrigley hasn't had another seizure. He's doing fantastic - we've been to the park a few times - even gone on trails, but I'm so nervous about other dogs I don't know - his back legs are still pretty weak.

He's so excited it's Fall - keeps putting his nose high into the air to breathe deeply in all the scents - I think he knows winter's almost here - his fav. time of year to run in all the snow.

There's just one thing - I will NEVER take for granted taking my guy for a walk again - amazing how somehting so "simple" can be so hard. I'm extremely grateful for each walk we go on and his smiles make it all that more close to my heart.

Yeah, even the stubborness is welcome along with each squirrel he finds. All the best to all!

We actually went to the Dog Park this morning! :)

Nope, we didn't use the ramp. Wrigley put up his paws and my husband lifted him in. He did awesome - we even saw his friends, Sally (human) & Mocha! We just walked around once - he went into the water a little. He was smiling the WHOLE time! Oh, and he had to eat lots of grass, too.

I was able to get him in the truck on the way home - I was really nervous, but we did it!!!

Yeah - so happy!

9.28.06 - HE RAN!

I came home for lunch to check on my guy and he was bounding (as much as Wrigley does) around the living room. We went outside and he acutally RAN!! I'm so excited. I think his bone is healing more and he gets more confident each day.

I can tell his back legs are still weak. I really want to get him back to the dog park, but I can't lift him into our SUV......so.....we bought a ramp - he thinks it's so dumb. It's going to take me a couple of weeks and LOTS of treats to convince him this thing is really cool and he should try it.

Keep your paws crossed - hoping this works - I think it would really boost our morale - not to mention we haven't been there since Jan. 19th........

Woohoo!

Wrigley went for a 30 minute walk this morning without stopping!! He pushed himself really hard - what a guy. Keeping my fingers crossed we can get back to the park in October - need to keep building up those leg muscles.

:)
