Likes: WATER!!! OH!!! ICE!!!! I LOVE ICE!!!!! I love ice water too! Even if I have to drink it from a bottle, I will! My new couch is great! It even matches my fur! Sometimes I have to share it with that big lug called Frankie, but thats ok, she is friendly!

Pet-Peeves: These weird humans keep trying to get me to eat raw fruits and veggies! BLECH!

Favorite Toy: Currently she adores a basketball rope toy we bought ages ago for her brother Bubba who never cared much for it, she hears the squeaky in it and goes nuts to get it. She will play with it for a while alone, but mostly wants to play with us

Favorite Food: CHEESE! Pizza night at this new place is fun- we all get to have some, and they keep that bully Jesse from taking mine.

Favorite Walk: To the kitchen! When the fridge/freezer door opens, Maggie comes running!

Best Tricks: Pretending to be deaf when given any commands! Maggie will sit when asked, knows "down", and is beginning to learn "speak".

Arrival Story: Miss Maggie Mae has been a bit sick lately but is still doing well in her new home. Her kidneys are not working exactly right but she still seems to manage to pester her brother, Bubba and to love on her mom and dad. She is making tons of new friends at the vets and has impressed all the staff there with her loving nature.
Update 9/7/06 Maggie has stolen our hearts but mostly my husbands. She misses him when he is at work, but when he returns she is thrilled. She stays by his side from the time he gets in till he leaves the next morning. She loves me and the kids but Daddy brings the good treats ;). He always makes time to play with her and is working on her training each evening. She finally understood our bed was not big enough for all three of us, so her bed is beside my husband and she wakes him up a few times each night, sticking her big head in the bed with him. He will pet her and speak to her and they both settle back down. When he gets up in the morning though, she knows she can climb in with me for a few more minutes of sleep and some serious snuggling before we have to get up and get the kids ready. Any naps during the day are normally with her as well. She is doing so well and fitting in with us so well, so fast. In only 3 weeks we can't imagine life without her. Her new collar and leash came today, a beautiful deep purple color, she looks so stylish in them. We ordered a harness too that has not came yet in the same deep purple shade. It really suits her. She is doing better on basic obedience, she sits 100% now and her recall is better. Down we are working on slowly and she gets it about half the time. Off she understands very well, but normally only gets that one when she decides our bed is more comfortable about 3 am! Bubba is teaching her to shake, she watches him and will throw her paw up there too. She is a very good guard dog, letting me know if even a shadow crosses the porch or the wind blows!
Maggie is home and doing well :) she is settling in wonderfully. She already has her daddy wrapped around her paws. She met the skin kids of the family and is a bit cautious around the smaller ones but likes the teenage one and we think she will come around if given some time. She has not become best friends with her new brother Bubba but they are getting used to each other slowly and have not had any problems yet. We already adore this girl, she has the sweetest personality. We have already started working on basic obedience and leash manners
8-19-06***Maggie has gone to live with her new Mom and Dad today. She met her new brother Bubba, and she and all her "siblings" had a fun day, and then she had to head out cuz they had a long drive ahead of them. Further updates to this page will be done by her new Mom, Missy.***
8-13-06***Maggie has been ADOPTED! She will be moving from our home to a new home in North Carolina very soon, to live with new *little brother* Bubba, and his new family! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Maggie came to stay with us on June 28, 2006 while waiting for her forever home to be found. She was living with a younger adult female mastiff, and in foster care she is with 3 other adult mastiffs.
Maggie rings a bell tied to the door knob when she needs to go outside, and scratches on the door when she wants to be let back in. She is very afraid of thunder and fireworks, and will do anything just to be near you during those events, even if it means crawling into a space too small for her body (usually under the computer desk)
If Maggie is adopted into a home where she is the "only child" she is likely to become overweight and lazy, as she has no issues with laying around on the couch all day watching soaps and eating bon bons. If placed in a home with a younger, active dog, she will play and is one powerful tug-of-war opponent! Since she has been on supplements of glucosamine/chondroitin, vitamin C, garlic tablets and fish oil tablets, she has been acting like a dog half her age, which is a wonderful thing to watch.

Bio: Maggie is apparently accustomed to sleeping in her owner's bed, and gets disgusted if not allowed. We are currently "refreshing" her basic training, as she does not follow the basic commands, and is used to doing as she pleases, though she is very calm and well house-broken, and CAN be left unattended all night. Maggie CANNOT be around cats- she is very strong, and it takes a lot of strength to hold her back if she is on leash and sees a cat. To people and other dogs, she is very loving, and not destructive at all, so no worries about anything being chewed if you are not with her every minute.
Maggie is easy to bathe, and gets into the bathtub easily once we put her front feet on the side of the tub. (She likes to drink the water from the sprayer hose.) Nail trimming is a bit of a fight, but after a while, she usually gives in and allows it, if only to get me to quit bugging her about it.
