Arrival Story:
I bought a house in May of 2002 for the express purpose of getting a dog. By July, I was settled in and ready to start looking. My co-worker at the time took obedience classes from the lady who manages the Jack Russell Terrier rescue group in Omaha, and my co-worker knew that I was looking for a small dog, so she hooked us up. Kerry was fostering two JRTs at the time, and both of the dogs came to my house separately for an afternoon visit. Sunny was kind of distant, but Sadie was curious and sweet and so, so cute. So the next step was to have Sadie over for an over-night visit, and I hated to give her up the next morning. A few days later she was mine...I think we were made for each other!
Bio:
Sadie was found as a stray in Grand Island, and she made a trip on the doggie rescue railroad to Omaha. She didn't do well in shelters, so Kerry, the rescue lady, fostered her at her house with three other JRTs and a Border Collie! She was very scared at my house at first -- she just shook in her kennel for awhile. And she still is scared of some men (although look how cute she is with my brother-in-law George!), and she isn't very good around kids. She's not the friendliest dog at first -- she's very protective and tends to bark a lot. But once you earn her love, she's extremely affectionate and loves to give kisses. She loves to run and jump, but she also loves to snuggle on the couch. She loves to play with her friends Sammy and Max and be alpha girl. Check out petfinder.com for great rescue dogs!
