Vet visit March 6, 2012

Hey all, well, I had another x-ray to check my heart, and, it has grown larger. It's pushing against the air passage to my lungs making it a bit harder to breathe. The doc said I'm stable right now and I'm not in any distress. I still love my treats and I'm getting lots of tummy rubs, plus, my humans carry me for my walks, since the doctor's orders are "no more walks".

Beautful Maggie

I just need to express how I'm feeling right now. Her vet said she would probably go in her sleep, her little heart (now twice the size it should be)will stop. He said that would be the most humane way, but, it still doesn't make it easy. I wake up each morning to my sweet Maggie licking my cheek. When I get up she's so happy to see me, so totally focused on my every move. I can't express enough how grateful I am that I have another day with her. When I hold her I just want to squeeze her and make her all better, but I can't. I just pray that I have many more days with my beautiful Maggie, my sweet baby girl friend.

I just want to check in with all my friends. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. I am feeling a bit more like myself again. I've not lost anymore weight and I, once again, love my treats! I don't go for walks anymore, but that's ok cause car rides are almost as good, plus, some days when it's nice out my mom carries me around the neighborhood. She does put me down to smell around just a bit, do my business, then back up I go. Bye for now. Wags and Wiggles!

Another episode

The night before last I had another episode, so yesterday I went to my vet again and he put me on another med. that will help with my appetite; I've lost about 1/2 a pound in the last few weeks. I'm feeling much better and eating a bit more which makes my mama happy. My vet said no more walks/park, just car rides and getting out in my own yard as usual. Merry Christmas everyone!

Vet visit yesterday

I went to my vet yesterday so she could see how the meds are working and she was pleased with how my lungs sounded. She said I'm not yet stable but progress is being made and after 10 days or so I can go for a short walk daily, I do love my walks... My human mom takes me with her on car rides and I just love that cause it gets me out of the house! I hope to be feeling stronger every day!

Mitral Valve Disease

My sweet Maggie was recently diagnosed with Mitral Valve Disease, she had an episode Friday so off to the our vet we went. The x-ray showed her heart is much larger than it should be but was not yet in heart failure (thank God). She is now on heart meds. and a diuretic. Hopefully she'll be with us for a while longer...

Today is a sunny day and I'm so excited because we will probably go to the big park. It's been so rainy for days and though we go for short walks around our neighborhood when the rain lets-up, it's not the same as the big park. I'm doing a good job teaching Alfie boundaries. He tends to get just a little to close to me when I just want to be left alone; he just gets too rambunctious. He's very sweet, he and I play sometimes which triggers a "run like a maniac" through out the whole house. Okay, I'm going to lay out in the sun until it's park time.

Ok, now I'm not at all sure about this new girl in my territory. At first she was just quiet and didn't move hardly at all, now she gets all excited whenever mom walks in the room she's in and then she follows her everywhere. I don't say or do anything I just have to watch her constantly to see what she's going to do next. She doesn't really pay much attention to the cats which is WEIRD to me and twice she's acted like she wants to play with me, but she gets too excited so I just stare at her then walk away. Mom just chuckles and calls me a little snob. Hey, avoidance is key to letting her know I need more time to get to know her.

1. I think the whole world is my park, if I get out of the yard I just have to go explore everything and don't want to go back right away. One day my Jesse (human mom's son) had to get me before I got too far away.
2. I like to eat but am picky about the size of my food; when my mom gives me some cheese or bacon she has to cut it in tiny pieces.
3. I'm a really fast runner and love to run along the beach at the ocean or at the river.
4. I love to tear up paper, any kind of paper. I shake it and then tear it into little tiny pieces.
5. I have to watch those cats, esp. Leo to make sure they aren't eating my food or scratching the furniture.
6. I love my sister Bernie, she's such a baby, I clean her face, eyes and ears all the time. Bernie loves that!
7. I like Monty too but he gets kinda excited over some things so I have to calm him down with a quick snap at him, I don't bite him I'm just letting him know he needs to stop that.
