Arrival Story:
From my mom- I started volunteering at a local no kill animal shelter near my house. I was looking to adopt a yorkie at the time but was having the hardest time finding one for adoption. I would never get one from a breeder because why pay a gazillion dollars for one when you can save a life and adopt one. I had been volunteering at this animal shelter for about 2 months and little Mia came in. She was the only purebred yorkie in the shelters history to ever come through their doors. Her previous owner (I was told) was a dog hoarder with large and small dogs living in a small apartment where they were not even allowed. She was told to get rid of the dogs or be evicted, she chose to get rid her dogs. She also had a boyfriend or male companion that abused the animals. When I first laid eyes on her it was a Saturday evening in May. She was curious of me but was also very shy. She wouldn’t eat or drink and just trembled. I wanted to stay with her every chance I got and the next day I got my wish. I went to fill out the adoption papers, (well kind of, I was so nervous that someone else would get to her before I would so I had my mom fill out the papers.) I officially adopted her on mother’s day, May 9, 2004. The best mother’s day present ever. I knew that she was my angel and I was her saving angel. We both needed each other at lonely times in our lives, I had just move out for college and she moved away from her permanent home. She is the best companion, best dog, and best of all, my best friend.

Bio:
I have a huge personality and will try to nip at anyone that comes near my mom. I try not to be mean but I was abused and this type of action is the result of my abuse. My mom and poppy have really done a lot of training with me and now my poppy is one of my best friends too but it took me 2 years to finally be O.K. with him.
