Likes:
He likes hugging. He will stand on his hind legs, gently put his arms on your shoulder and give you kisses.

Pet-Peeves:
The neighbor's border collie. When he is out in the yard next door, Mo squeals like a little girl. It's so embarassing.

Favorite Toy:
rawhide bone

Favorite Food:
pretty much anything!

Favorite Walk:
to the bedroom!

Best Tricks:
Mo can open doors. He bumps the lever-type door knob and lets himself into or out of any room. He can push the door open or pull the door open! He's a genius!

Arrival Story:
Mo and his sister Molly are rescue doggies from Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR). He and his seven brothers and sisters were left in a gunny sack at a feed store in Modesto, CA. Thank God they weren't put down!! TVAR (Pleasanton, CA) rescued them and we fell in love with them at the TVAR adoption site at the Pleasanton Farmer's Market. We had just lost our two dog loves of 12 years (they had been abandonded at the school where my husband was a principal and we adopted them). I couldn't live without tail wags and doggie kisses and we went to the farmer's market and fell in LUV with Mo and his sister.

Bio:
We don't know what breed they are but Mo looks like he might be part pit. He is the sweetest most mellow doggie. His daddy and I are retired. I am a watercolor artist and do doggie portraits either as our current best friends or as angel memorials to those that have passed on. You can visit Mo's mom's website: http://www.angeldoggie.com

Mo goes to UC Davis Veterinary Clinic

May 31st 2007 6:45 pm   [link to this entry]

My babe, Mo, has developed allergies. The poor boy gets the ear infections but has developed groin redness and red feet. Our vet thought it was just food allergies but when the spring hit and the rains, he went totally red and itchy. His poor groin area was beet red! Ouch! So we took him to the University of California Veterinary School clinic. The verdict came back that he is allergic to molds, pollens, and environmental things. So we are on a regimin of meds and of all things, a food diet by Eukanuba: KO. Kangaroo and oatmeal! What a shock! I hope all this works. But if it doesn't, we will take the two hour trip up to UC Davis again. They were wonderful and I feel so lucky to be close enough to use this facility!

My Tail of Devotion for Mo

July 16th 2006 8:49 pm   [link to this entry]

We lost our two brother doggies a few years ago and when I could no longer live without tail wags and doggie kisses, we went to the Pleasanton California Farmer's Market to visit the Tri-Valley Animal Rescue Adoption station. I was so excited when I immediately saw puppies! Then when I got closer I instantly fell in MAJOR HUGE LOVE with Mo's little puppy face. He's was soooooo adorable! And I'm not the only one who thinks so, even though I am his mom. As a more grown up Mo, he made his appearance with us at the San Francisco SPCA Bark & Whine Ball, he had several ladies fall in love with him and they had a hard time trying to tear themselves away and enjoy the rest of the celebration! Chrisma personified!

He's the most gentle loving mellow doggie in the world and has his own special way of hugging. He will stand up on his hind legs and GENTLY (!) put his paws on your shoulder and give you sloppy doggie kisses! Most dogs will almost knock you over when they want to lick your face but Mo has this amazingly slow, gentle hugging routine. You feel like you have been hugged and kissed by an angel as well you have been!

He has other talents as well. . . he can open doors. With the lever door handles he bumps the handle with his nose and will push the door open or pull the door open so he goes wherever he wants. There is no privacy in our bathrooms with Mo around. You can always expect company! He even has taken a round door knob in his mouth and tried to turn it. Hasn't mastered this one yet though!

He and his sister Molly (each over 80 lbs.) sleep in our king size bed with us every night. My husband and I are so used to the doggies sleeping between us crosswise on the bed, that now I automatically cling to the edge of the bed even when we are on vacation and the doggies are not with us! Are we trained or what?
