Other dogs; Snausages, sleeping with daddy. His golden girlfriend Chowder who lives around the corner. If she walks by the window, he's inconsolable until he can play with her!
Having his ear/face blown at (though he loves his head out the window riding in the car), having his nails did.
Hedgy the Hedgehog
Snausages and fruit snacks, especially the fruit gushers, PopTart crusts.
Fort Funston (he gets very excited as soon as he smells the ocean breeze) & Bernal Hill
Got him from working parents on a farm in Illinois. He sat on my lap on the ride home to St. Louis, and we had bonded by the time we got home. He was also my co-pilot on the drive from Missouri to California... now he's MY guardian!!
It is with profound sadness that I have to announce the passing of one of the brightest lights in my life -- my dog Rider Blue. Just a smidge over 5 and forever puppy at heart, he's gone too soon!
The day began with a picture postcard romp at his favorite place, Fort Funston in San Francisco. Accompanied by his namesake and big sister China, his fiercest competitor for attention, Diego, his favorite Uncle Shane, and Daddy (that's me); he ran the dunes, chasing sticks and balls and strolled the beach, running ashore from sneaky waves, and smiling all the way home in the car!
Back at home he had a drink of water and plopped down in his usual fashion. Minutes later, and after what appeared to be a brief struggle (and enough time for me to cradle him in my arms), his little light just went out.
His unconditional love for me and his self-appointed duty as protector of my heart and soul through some of the darkest times in my life are the very things will continue to convince me to see the good in everything. He was my co-pilot on my life-renewing cross country journey across half the continent.
He was my pillow, my electric blanket, my grounding force. He was a constant source of joy and ear-to-ear grins with his sense of entitlement over the top of the bed, the way he nested his pillows and blankets until they were just so (and often up onto the bed), the way it appeared he was attempting to will bites of people food directly into his mouth with a mere stare, and his love of every single dog he'd ever seen. He was fiercely protective of me, and his Papa George too.
I often referred to him as my life preserver -- he was just that time after time.
I'm sure going to miss my Rider Blue. He was just a dog, but I don't have to say more in Dogster company -- everyone here knows he was so much more. He gave credence to use of the title "Man's Best Friend." Farewell my special little guy. I'll see you one day at that rainbow bridge.
