Likes:
Food! He enjoys going for walks and loves going for drives but it usually makes him sleepy.

Pet-Peeves:
He's not crazy about going out in the rain, or the sound of thunder. He also doesn't like stairs. Otherwise, he's a real trooper and doesn't really mind anything.

Favorite Toy:
A pink stuffy stoy in shape of a bone and chewable plastic hot dog.

Favorite Food:
He loves all foods and treats! We've recently discovered that he's developped a taste for Montreal bagels and butter cookies. :)

Favorite Walk:
Around the block, and at a beautiful park by the water.

Best Tricks:
He does a sea-lion impression sometimes as part of his stretching routine (I'm not kidding!)

Arrival Story:
Although he is doing very well now, Robby’s had a difficult life. He was rescued from an unscrupulous breeder who neglected him. He doesn't talk about it much, but we know that he used to spend a lot of time in a crate. He wears some battle-scars and a small part of his ear has been bitten off. When he first came into our care, Robby was underweight and his muscle mass was low. He wasn’t house trained. He didn’t know how to walk on a leash and he had no interest in balls, bones or chew toys. Fortunately, Robby’s a quick learner and has a wonderful temperament. He now enjoys going for walks and absolutely loves car rides. He’s house trained and has developed a taste for chewing beef raw hides. He’s even learning to play with toys!

Bio:
Robby is a sweet and loving boy.

a change of luck, a change of bandage

A change of bandage

We went back to the vet a few days ago because my knee was still hurting. They said that everything looked OK except that maybe I was using my leg too much too soon. I said fine, I’ll try my best not to use it for a bit. I’ll hop on 3 legs or something. I even agreed to stop trying to get on the kitchen table... you know, where all the yummy food is.

But the doctor said that the best thing would be to bandage my leg. So, here I am... wearing a green bandage with a flower on it! This is totally not what I had in mind when I said “any dark colour is fine, as long as it looks manly.”

The bandage was on too tight and it was waaaaaaaay too heavy so, I got up in the middle of the night and tried my best to take it off. I didn’t have much luck during the first night. Sandra wakes up easily so, I had to pretend to be sleeping everytime she looked at me. The next night, I started chewing it and pulling on it again. I couldn’t take it off but at least I got it a little loose... and really really wet! Finally, this morning we went back and got me a new bandage!

This one is a lot better. It’s lighter and it has a shamrock on it! Now, I just have to find a “Kiss me I’m Irish” t-shirt.

Happy Canada Day everybody!

my first manicure

I love going for rides in the car and the other day we were going for a nice drive when I heard “Robby, you could really use a trim.” “A trim?” I asked. I’m not a poodle! I don’t need a trim! Then I heard “No, we just need to get your nails done.” But that’s worse isn’t it? I’m a man, I’d rather have a trim than a manicure!

Maya looked at me and said: “I think this means that they’re going to paint your toe-nails red... or maybe pink!” What?! They can’t do this, can they? Then she said “Relax, I think that pink would suit you.” I couldn’t believe it! All the guys in the neighbourhood would start laughing at me! This is an outrage! Then Sandra turned around and said: “Maya, stop teasing Robby, and Robby, stop making a fuss. We’re just going to get your nails done because you’re starting to look like a bear.”

When we arrived at the store, I realized that this was the same place they had brought me for my bath. The person who bathed me said that I was so dirty, it looked like I had never had a bath before. Well, yeah! I’m a guy. We take showers, not baths. Running under the sprinkler once a month in the backyard is more than enough!

Anyway, “the bath” was an unpleasant experience, so let’s not talk about it. Not that getting my nails done was a picnic, but at least it didn’t last as long. I was really uncomfortable though. Even Maya stopped laughing at me and was like: “Are you OK? Is he hurting you? You want me to bite him?” The guy said that it looked like I had never gotten my nails done before either. Isn’t it annoying when humans speak about you like you’re not even in the room?

Well, that was a very long minute and I was happy when it was over. I guess it wasn’t that bad because walking on the sidewalk did feel more comfortable. On top of that, we went out for ice cream right afterwards! I love ice-cream. It’s creamy, it’s cool, it’s sweet, it’s soft, it’s perfect! I could talk about ice-cream all day... but I’ve got to go. I think Maya’s getting a treat or something and if I’m not in the kitchen in 10 seconds then there won’t be anything left for me!

a sweet discovery

I smelled something really good from the kitchen today. Well, it always smells good but today it smelled really good... and the best part was that there was no-one around! I started sniffing and noticed that the smell was coming from the kitchen table. I tried jumping up and down but I couldn’t see anything. Luckily, one of the chairs was sticking out so, I managed to get on top of it. The table’s a lot easier to reach that way. There was this tray with these sweet and warm golden nuggets. I looked around and still, no-one was around. Mommy was in the shower, and Maya was sleeping. These things smelled amazing! So, tried a piece and mmmm... it was the tastiest thing I had ever had! Obviously, I had another piece, and another, and then another... until Mom came out of the shower, of course. Before I even had the chance to complement her on her baking skills, she took me off the table and placed me on the ground! She said that I had eaten ‘7 butter cookies’... which was a lie! I had only eaten 6! Pfff... they always exaggerate about how much I eat.

Anyway... I don’t know if she was upset or not because she was laughing. She took the cookies away though. A little later, I saw her eating a cookie by herself. I ran up to her and asked if I could have another. She took a cookie and split it in 2: half for me, half for Maya. Of course, Maya refused to eat the cookie. She’s way too picky if you ask me and misses out on all sort of tasty treats that way! Aw well, more cookies for me!
