Leave a bone for Murphy

Nicknames: Dufus (but don't tell Daddy I said that)

 Quick Bio:
Likes: Chewing on our hands and feet is his favorite past time right now, although we are going to start training to stop that. He loves to be rubbed on his tummy and to lay outside watching all of the neighboorhood kids play.

Pet-Peeves: Being left alone or ignored.

Favorite Toy: His treat ball - he rolls it around and it makes squeaking noises, occasionally dropping out a small morsel. He goes bezerk over this. It's hilarious. He looks like a kitty as he's pouncing on it.

Favorite Food: He loves his dental bones.

Favorite Walk: We've taken him to Pigeon Creek park where he can walk through the woods - he loves that.

Best Tricks: Sits, lays down and shakes so far. Will be learning more as we have him longer.

Arrival Story: We found Murphy on petfinder.com and fell in love with him immediately. We rescued him from Voice of Animals. He has some dominance issues (nipping at your heals and mouthing), which is why we think he was in the pound twice before. We're using Companion School for Dogs out of Holland, MI to send a trainer to the house and work with us and him to solve these issues, as well as some general obedience issues. We're attached to him already and he to us, so we'll make sure he won't ever need to go back to the pound again.

Bio: Unfortunately, we had to give Murphy up to a new home. We moved out of state and were not able to take him with us. We also had a new baby and he was just way too energetic to be around a toddling child. We were afraid he'd run right over her (on accident of course).
We will always have a fond place in our heart for our Murphy and hope he finds the same kind of love and friendship he found with us at his new home -- Aug 2006

My Mom and Dad spent a lot of money having Jim from Companion School for Dogs come to our house and teach me all sorts of new tricks. I do most of them when I feel like it though. I'm still not willing to just plop my butt on the ground at the command of my parents. No way, no how. But then again, if they have a treat in their hand... I'll do anything they ask! Oh yes I will!
I love my tail. If I'm really bored, I will chase it for 10 minutes. My mom and dad think it's really funny too. I catch it and then try to wrestle that thing to the ground. They really laugh when I trip myself. And the cool part is, I can run both ways and REALLY really fast too. I barely touch down each spin, just enough to kick off another turn. I just hope mom and dad are smart enough to get out of the way because my mouth is a snapping away trying to catch that darned tail.
My brother and sister - the CATS - are too snobbish for me. I just want to play with them and all they can do is hiss and spit at me. I really enjoy chasing that fat one though. He thinks he's being all sneaky when he slinks from one room to the other, but as soon as I spot him, the race is on. He needs the exercise anyway, he's too fat. I rarely see the little one, Lucy. She hides from me under the bed all the time.
I'm enjoying these nice fall days and staying outside when mom and dad come home. I love to lay out in my newly dug hole and watch the neighbors kids run and play. But there's something about those outdoor cats and rabbits. They really aggrevate me! I have to bark and bark and bark and bark, well you get the hint. They just lay there, mocking me! One of these days....
