My Friend Is Gone

Jordy went to the Rainbow Bridge on May 16th. Mom said he was too sick and he was hurting too much. She is still very sad and I am, too. Jordy was a cat, but he was a gentle, cool dude, and I liked him.

Ok, so on my birthday, October 14th, they said I'm now a "Senior Dog". I guess that means I'm officially in command around here....always knew I was anyway, hehe.

A Hot Summer

It's been HOT here this summer! Heat indexes (mom says that's the heat + humidity = the way it feels outside) has been 104-114 everyday for awhile now. Too danged hot! I still have to hunt those lizards and one day I'll catch one, but mom won't let me stay out very long right now. We also have more snakes coming into the yard which I DO NOT like. We've had a fly in the house for about 4 days now and try as I might, I cannot kill it. I believe it has supernatural powers. Even the new cat, Misty, cannot kill it. She caught it in her paw, then stupidly let it go. Sheesh!
Sasha....if you're watching us, you might want to esp some of your infinite wisdom to Misty. She's not bad, just not as smart as you.
Jordy's a pretty cool guy. Sometimes he gets on my nerves but mom says he's getting old and gets annoyed easily. Most of the time, he's ok. At least we can lie down on the same bed without fighting.
I continue training maneuvers with the laser pointer. I train twice a day everyday. The boys started back to school yesterday (mom was happy!) and I go with mom each afternoon in the van to pick them up when their day is over. It's my job and I do it well.

Love These Weekends!

The family is home and can pretty much be kept corraled in one area. Laziness abounds and it's wonderful! There has been a LOT of smoke in the air here from brush fires. It's pretty nasty. Mom says she hopes it rains this weekend to clear it out some. I do, too, because I'm not allowed to stay out in it for very long.
The boys changed schools back in March and now I'm allowed to go with mom every afternoon to pick them up! Mom even takes fresh water for me and yesterday we ate a hamburger for lunch while we waited. It was glorious!

I Feel Goooood!

Even though it's been rainy for a few days, my daddy is home today and I feel pretty good. My ear infection is better but mom says we have to stop by the vet to pick up Sentinel since it's due today and I'm out. Something about it keeping worms out of my heart.
At the moment, I'm lying comfortably on mom and dad's bed, will go to sleep soon. My new, yummy rawhide bone is within paw' reach.
Yup, feeling good.

Wonderful Christmas!

Man, did I get a bunch of cool stuff for Christmas! I can't even remember all of it. I think I made a bit of a nuisance of myself Christmas Eve night because I insisted on having my new big rawhide and my new tug-o-war rope before the big day. I just couldn't help myself! I got so much it wouldn't all fit into my own stocking, so da had to put some under the tree and mom had to put some in my cat brother, Jordy's, stocking. There was only one thing missing, though. My cat sister, Sasha, was not here this year for the first time. We all missed her. And my own mom was really sick with what she said was the flu. She was in bed all day. She still is not all well yet. Bummer. I've had an ear infection this week but it's a lot better now.

Life Is Pretty Good

Lots of sunshine, a great soccer ball, and an even greater family...what more could I ask for? I kind of miss my cat sister, Sasha. She died on September 29th. She didn't like me too much and often hit me on the top of my head, but that was just her way of making sure I knew she was boss.
That new bunny in the house is rather annoying to me. Everyone says she's sooo cute. Look like hasenpfeffer to me!

Indian Summer

Whew! It's hot today! I don't know about all the humans, but I am sure ready for some cooler weather! I love to go out on the patio early in the mornings when it's the coolest. I hear mom grumbling about the heat so I guess she's ready for a change also!
The kids are really causing a lot of ruckus these days...the human kids in the house, that is. I have been a bit stressed out lately and have heard myself giving warning barks to them when they get too loud. I don't want to hurt them, though.
We also have this new creature in the house called a dwarf bunny. I say hasenpfeffer! Everyone thinks she's so cute, but I'm no fool. I don't like her beady little eyes. Ick.
Sasha's been gone from us for 3 weeks and one day now. I do miss the old gal! Even those head boxings she used to give me, right up until the end. Mom says she's in a beautiful place now so that's good.
Jordy's ok. He's mostly a mama's boy...hehe, guess I am, too! Jordy's 13 as of this week and he's fat and diabetic, and obviously needs more insulin because he seems to have taken a strong liking to the bunny creature. I think he just misses Sasha a whole lot. I saw mom take Sasha's collar out and a lock of her hair for Jordy to smell last night. Mom keeps them in a special box.
I turned 6 years old one week ago, October 14th! I feel good!

Today I...

Ate a LOT of food! I had a can of Mighty Dog grilled chicken this morning...yummy. I don't often eat canned dog food - or dog food of any kind, but I was hungry! Mom made me get out of the cat food last night and it was pretty tasty.
For lunch, mom gave me one of my most favorites: a piece of string cheese (mozzerrela) and a piece of beef cotto salami.
And dinner...oh, goodness, mom made a ham! I have quite a few slices of that then a couple of scoopes of mac & cheese.
I just finished off my treats and feel pretty good.

Eating was not all I did today! I have had to keep guard on this house as usual. Many vehicles up and down the street, strange men to be barked at, etc. I had to supervise mom while she did the housework. Then there's the back yard, full of squirrels and sometimes a few mice in the fence. Hehe, I've caught a few of those nasty buggers this year. Mom makes me drop their bodies at once. Don't know why.
So, back to today...I figured with all the work I'd done, I could get a ride in the van, so I went to the garage door and stood there. Mom knew just what I wanted and we went on a nice little jaunt.
