The end came more quickly than we anticipated. On Monday, November 15,2004 Skooter was helped to the rainbow bridge by a very caring vet surrounded by her favorite things. Through the advice of my boxer group (bxf@yahoogroups.com) it was suggested that my other furbabies understand she was gone rather than the dreaded "Magic Car Ride" where you never return. So after gentle kisses and a huge plate full of whipping cream, Skooter left us and joined so many others at the Rainbow Bridge. Now, we are left with tears and sadness while the great memories of her keep her alive in our hearts. We miss ya "sweet baby girl."

Our first entry on Skooterville is a sad one but will help us work through the next months. On October 8th, Skooter had a visit with Dr. David and we had a complete check-up. While looking for arthritis in Skooter's back we did a full body x-ray only to discover bladder stones, liver cancer and possible lung cancer. Very sad indeed! But with our positive attitudes we decided that with this knowledge we can spend every day smelling the roses, eating those treats (to H*ll with watching our waistline!) and all the special kisses we can handle. The good news is that Skooter is a happy camper and feeling no worse for wear. So we start this diary as a celebration of each precious day as it unfolds and hopefully we will have many more days before we have to send her to the rainbow bridge.
