The Puppy Shall Lie Down With The Lamb

This evening I was barking it up on the porch when a voice shot across the street - "SHUT UP!". My mom walked out and heard "SHUT YOUR DOG UP!", but didn't see anyone. It was a bit startling.

Eep - we were not being good neighbors. While there's nothing like a good bark, it's important not to drown out the music of a summer evening.

My mom ushered me inside, offered an apology to the appropriate neighbor and came back for a tumbling play session.

Finding myself strangely exhausted, I'm now in my crate with a chewy and good night kiss.

All Byyyy Myself

Summer is the season for running and jumping. Not me, bub. I am stuck inside on this beautiful day.

Sure, it's nice in here. I'm over my carpet-digging phase, so I have the run of the house. No kitchen confinement or crate duty for me. I can sit on the couch and look outside. Lovely, cool air conditioning wafts over me. I amble over to the TV and watch A Baby Story on TLC. Still....

I want to chase birds! Stalk squirrels! Tumble with dogfriends and lick humans with reckless abandon!

But - sigh - I have to wait 'til my mom comes home. Till then, I'll nose my Kong around and sleep, perchance to dream, of afternoon adventures.

Mad Dogs and Englishmen

I love being outdoors. "Outside" was probably the second word I learned after my name. Out there I can visit friends, chase squirrels, dig - good dog stuff. But I've encountered an onerous barrier to fun. The heat. Whoa. My furry self is about to melt in 90 degree weather.

My solution is to hydrate like a big dog. I have two water bowls, one in the kitchen and on the porch. During walks, we stop at the community center for a drink at the water fountain. Sometimes I snag a sip from a freshly watered plant, too.

Be careful outside, my friends! Drink lots and don't pee on the carpet.
