Arrival Story:
Ah. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 8, bright-eyed, happy, loving life. Had a cat, but wasn't satisfied...I wanted a dog. I begged and begged, sent e-mail cards, asked and asked for one, and showed extra care and love to my cat (he's still around, the big lump. I love him.). Well, it was Christmas, I was opening a bag, and pulled out things for dogs...rawhide, bowls...I was confused, didn't know WHY people were giving this to me. THEN came the leash and collar. Mom came in with a book about Golden Retrievers. I WAS GETTING A DOG! In January, my Dad and I drove to Marysville, Washington (we live in Seattle) to go to the breeders. We arrived, and I was excited to see three adorable puppies-two males and a female. One male, the one who had taken a liking to my dad, was already sold, and there was a male and a female. Instantly, I fell in love with the little girl, and we took her home. I read to her in the car, played with her, and held her close. I loved the puppy with all my heart! 4 years later, Lucy is a beautiful, dark-furred Golden, I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Lucy is a sweet, loving, hyper dog, who everyone loves. Lucy has never been known to bite or hurt anyone in any intentional matter, however, she has pinched and scratched. She isn't good with other dogs and men who wear hats or are larger than she knows (the tallest she's seen is around 6'4"), she growls and barks. If a dog approaches her, she sniffs around, and the two may start playing, or fighting. When a man in a hat tries to pet her, she gets a little stiff and barks, so we urge anyone who pets her to take of their hats, or let her sniff their hand. But above it all, Lucy is an exciting, loving girl to have, and I would NEVER trade her for any dog.

Hi Dogster! Lucy here.

Just wanted to let everyone know I'm still around and having a ball. I'm a year older and my owner is too. She's been very busy with school and acting and working out so she hasn't been on too much.

Anyway, that is all I have to say.

My owner is performing in a "play" today. A play is like a movie onstage she said. But I'm not too sure. Anyway, it's a Shakespeare play (what's a Shakespeare play?) called Twelfth Night. She's the jester. This means she has to sing a lot. So she keeps singing. I think it's annoying. Everyone else likes it, though. But then, I'm always near her so... I guess I would get sick of it.

Sassy came over today. She's my best friend. And my owner was having a lot of fun playing with Sassy because if you knock on wood or play a doorbell sound, she barks. It's fun, if a little scary.

She also got me this cool collar. Well, actually, Sassy's owner Lynne did, but it's still really cool. She showed me something similar. It's called a LiveSTRONG, she said, and the one I'm wearing is made of the same material. It's blue and brown and says BE KIND on it. I like it!

And also, I got a bath recently. I love being bathed!

Well, I'm going to go get petted now. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Squeaky clean,
