Lucky is becoming a celebrity

Lucky is featured as "Mr. September" in the IMPS calendar. I am so proud of him. I have always wanted the rest of the world to know what he went through and he overcame all of that and was able to trust humans again. It amazes me.
Now he won his first contest. He one first place in the 2007 Webbmutster Competition for "Best Rescue Survival Story" Again I am so proud of him. He has come so far in such a short time.

My 4th Birthday

Jan 14, 2007 was my 4th birthday. Mom made me a special doggie cake which I had to share with my sisters. But that is OK. Mom was not feeling well and the weather was bad so she was home with me all day. We got a blanket and snuggled and vegged all day. That was the best part of my birthday.

Lucky, I have always been able to talk to you about anything and the funny thing is I know you can understand me. When I got into min pin rescue, how was I to know that I would find my best friend. YOU! You had such a horrible past and I wanted you to know you had a home and would always be loved. I wanted you to know how special you are and for you never to feel left out. After adopting you as my own, I continued to foster dogs, each time before I brought a new one home we would talk. I would reassure you of my love and tell you how we had to help other min pins who had no one to find a good life, just as you had done a few short years before. You always understood and were quite the "rescuer" showing the new dogs the ropes and making sure they knew what was expected of them. You were loving to each one til they found a new home. Now a 4 dog household later, you take care of all the others and rule like an old mother hen.
You are my best friend. You always know what I need. When I am sick you are right by my side. When I am sad you are there to lick away my tears. You make me laugh with your funny antics. You make sure everyone is safe and tucked into bed before you retire for the night under the covers at my feet.
You are a very special boy and my life is better just by having you in it.
