Arrival Story: I saw Stella across a crowded parking lot as she was frolicking by a retention pond near the interstate. I thought she was a cat at first... It took me about 20 minutes of climbing through bushes and under cars before she finally let me catch her. I pulled her out from under a car by her tail, which isn't a very smart thing to do with a strange dog, but she has never nipped or so much as showed her teeth to us. My husband had just lost his dog of 17 years, and was not ready for another, but when I brought her home, covered with sand and engine grease, he went to the store immediately to buy her food, a toy, and a collar. We put ads in both the local papers but no one claimed her. On Stella's first road trip we stopped at a Truck Stop. Stella screamed and clawed at the windows. It was heartbreaking. It brought us to the belief that she had been left behind, maybe by accident, maybe on purpose, perhaps by people in a Winnebago where she could have slipped out between their feet while they were stepping out. So that is the past that we created for her. We wish we knew her story.

Bio: Stella is the queen of the house. The higharchy goes in this order: Daddy, God/Grandma, Stella, Mommy, Archie, Bismark, Milford, And the other two cats. She is a total Daddy's girl, but that all changes when we go to Grandma's house. We have to be careful not to say Grandma around her until we are minutes from departing or else she sulks. When we get out her leash she spins in circles til we can catch her mid spin and attach her leash. When Stella is bored her tongue hangs out of her mouth. When she is happy she prances and her toes don't even touch the ground. She loves to visit Grandma's boat and stand up on the seat top feeling the wind. She is very intuitive, and very determined. She is poised, but hasn't lost her whimsy. Generally, she deems herself above wrestling with the other canines, but sometimes she just can't resist and has to jump in and kick some tail. When she visits her other Grandparents, she likes to leave a little present under the piano for them to find later. She has not told us why yet.
