Nicknames:
Honey Bear, Jakie Honey, Black Bart (puppy nickname)

Quick Bio:
-purebred

Pet-Peeves:
His attitude was that water was for drinking not putting his body in.

Favorite Toy:
Not big on toys, liked chasing lizards, birds and imaginary monsters.

Favorite Food:
Prime rib, turkey, more turkey, chicken jerky, ginger snaps and peach yogurt.

Favorite Walk:
Patrolling his acre of the Sonoran Desert.

Best Tricks:
Talking (in his own language) or pretending to chase varmits in a pile of blankets.

Arrival Story:
We had two Fox Terriers (brothers) and when one died we didn't want the second dog to be without a companion. We went to see a Welshie puppy who immediately was "Jake". His big chocolate eyes won us the moment we saw him.

Bio:
Jake was born in Massachusetts and lived there for a little over a year. But he lived almost all of his life in Arizona. He was named after one of John Wayne's characters. Jake was a rootin' tootin', son-of-the West bucaroo, cousin of a cayote. Although he was as tough as rawhide, but could be as gentle as a desert night breeze.

Always in Our Hearts

Jake began having sneezing and coughing problems in March. After several vet and specialist visits, a rhinoscopy, and a CAT Scan, a large mass was found blocking his right nostril and moving into his left. He began having trouble walking three days ago and this morning he couldn't get up at all. True to his reputation, he tried his best until the end and never lost his legendary appitite. His favorite food was turkey and that's just what he had for Mother's Day. He was one hell of a good, loyal and smart little fellow and we all miss him something awful.

Jake's First Entry

I like Christmas! Don't get me wrong, I like Valentine's day (I do intense kisses). The Easter bunny comes to our house and leaves treats. On the 4th of July we have hamburgers and hot cats (we don't like the sound of hot dogs) . The Great Pumpkin comes at Hallowe'en with all kinds of stuff. And oh boy Thanksgiving! Turkey, Turkey, Turkey. But Christmas means a big bag of goodies which, unfortunately, I have to share with my brother Cooper who is a Wired Fox Terrier. There's plenty of treat stuff to go around though.

This year Cooper and I got a special Christmas present from Mom, she promised to help each of us with a diary. I suppose Coop and I will have similar entries, but from time to time I imagine my entries will be a little different and closer to reality since Cooper stretches the truth sometimes.

Well, it's supposed to be 72° today so I'm headin' out to round up some Terrier Trouble. See ya round the chuck wagon and remember...no beans for dogs!!
