My PRE Birthday Bash

First I want to say that I’m in a wonderful forever home. I really, really love my new mom and my new sister, Daisy. I even have a little love for those two bratty felines (especially when they give me baths). One of these days I’ll have to tell you about my arrival here. Today I want to tell you about my birthday!!

Unfortunately, mom is going out of town & won’t be around for my birthday. After I read all about Daisy’s big day, I was hoping I’d get the same treatment. But NOOOO, she’s got to go out of town & be away on my special day. She told me she’d celebrate with me early & my birthday could go on for a couple of days instead of just one. Hee hee – I’m getting a better deal than Ms Daisy.

On Friday, mom put on my birthday hat & fed me an extra special meal in my new birthday dishes. Which, I might add, are far superior to Daisy’s. Saturday I got some frosty paws & more treats!!! It’s been a treat filled weekend which is just what I want since I don’t really play with toys.

On Sunday, I’m going to the bed & biscuit for a week. I think that’s REALLY my birthday present. I was there in August & loved it. There are so many other dogs to play with & they have a room with a big bed so we can lay & watch tv on rainy days. How cool is that?? They have kiddy swimming pools too. Mom says she’s sending me to the ‘spa’ for my birthday – I’m psyched!! Maybe I’ll get a massage & pedicure! She told me she’d send extra treats for Monday too.

I know I didn’t get a cake or all the attention that Daisy received, but I’m a quiet guy & kinda like a low key birthday celebration. I’ll have to let you know how it all went when I get back from the spa….Mom’s sending the camera again so hopefully we’ll get more pictures so she can finally develop the film *grin*

Wow - I'm a WINNER!!

Well, Mom says I'm a winner every day (or rather she is to have me) Can you believe little old ME actually won something? I have to give Daisy part of the credit though since she was in the picture with me. We actually WON in the Best Friends category in the Coolest Contest. And what makes it even more special is the fact that the JUDGES were the ones to pick our picture! It wasn't so much a popularity contest. I want to thank all my dogster friends that gave me 5 paws which enabled me to get into the finals of the contest. I sure do feel special now! Do you think Santa Paws will be extra nice to me this year? I'm just happy that I'm in my new forever home & able to spend Christmas with my new family. I guess that is gift enough.

I'm very excited that I'm a winner but have no idea WHY I'm a winner. As I said before - mom has always thought I was a winner. Cool that others might think so too *grin*!! I can't wait to hear what this is all about - I'm so excited I can't stop wagging my tail!!!

The Plot Thickens........

I finally found out WHY I won and WHAT I won......Its pawsome!!!

Mom entered a pix of Daisy & I sleeping with our Christmas hats in the Labs, Labs & More Labs Group contest for Best Friends. It seems like it was ages ago so we just figured some other lucky dawgie won. Well, low & behold that lucky dawgie was US!!! We won & let me tell you, we checked out all the other dawgies pages & they had some really pawsome pix - really, really stiff competition. We're so honored that the judges chose us as the winners - thank you judges & everyone that voted for us!!

Now you're probably asking "what did you win???" That's the BESTEST part!!! We won a portrait of ourselves done by daMoose’s mom. She is an artist & a pawsome one at that!! We checked out her website & were totally, totally in awe of her work. Click Here to check out her work. We feel SO VERY HONORED to have her donate her time & everything to do our picture. Such a very nice person & daMoose is pretty cool too.

Walk for Animals

Zowee - where do I begin?!?!? Mom decided last minute to walk me in a benefit for homeless pets. We scrambled all last week to get pledges for the "Walk for Animals" to benefit HOPE . HOPE is a pawsome rescue group that saves animals from a local kill *shudder* shelter in our area. We were lucky enough to get $580 to benefit this wonderful group. Thanks to all that pledged for us.

Well on Saturday, we got to the walk in downtown Saratoga & there were doggies, doggies everywhere. There were even doggies in costumes! It was soooo exciting. I was trying to remember everything so I could fill Daisy in on all the excitement. Not to rub it in her face that she had to stay home, but to tell her everything she could experience next year if she's good. I was runner up in the wagging tail & nicest smile contests - I know I was the best but it was a little chaotic so the judge just plum forgot about me. They did take my picture for the newsletter though - I'll let you know if I make it *grin*.

After waiting around for what seemed like days, the walk finally started. We bullied our way up to the front so we were leaders in the pack - I didn't want to be smelling butts. You should have seen us - there were like 30 of us doggies walking right down Broadway in Saratoga....Well, if you know the area, Saratoga is a pretty mucky muck city. It was kinda like thumbing our noses all us prancing down the street together. We walked about a mile to the college & then back down to the park. About two miles total. We stopped at a doggie cafe for a little break. They had all kinds of neat things in their barkery. Mom was afraid to buy something for me & Daisy cause it was hot & she didn't want it to melt. She said that maybe she'd bring the two of us there for their ice cream social in July - how cool would that be?!?!?

It was so neat to be out in public hanging with mom. Wish Daisy could have been there. Mom says if we're really, really good together on the leash that maybe, just maybe next time the TWO of us can go.

Thanks again to everyone that gave us a pledge.....We did you proud!!

PS - We dedicated our walk to Cracker. When we gave the pledges we gave a sheet with his picture & a dedication to him. He's a very special angel & deserves the recognition.

I'm a Therapist!!! Its all about sharing the LOVE!!

Wow - these past few months have been a whirlwind. I was going to therapy school for 6-8 weeks & boy oh boy was it a CHALLENGE!!! Our class was in a local nursing home & every week I was fortunate enough to meet all kinds of nice people that just loved to see ME - little ole' ME. When I first went to class I only knew the basic obedience stuff that mom had worked with me. I didn't even know DOWN. She worked & worked with me on that & in the last class I actually won the prize for the longest Down - can you imagine?!?!? Mom was soo dang proud of me!! From going to not knowing down to being able to stay there the longest. We had our test on the last class & everyone passed with flying colors - so I'm now an official Therapist!!! All my paperwork has been submitted to TDI (Therapy Dogs International) & I'm just waiting for my official ID. You just know I'm going to scan that on my page for ALL to see!!

In the interim, mom has been taking me to a local nursing home & I'm making great friends. There are a few women there that just ADORE little ole' ME. They sure do make me feel extra special too. I say its all about sharing the love. Mom is nice enough to share me with others & I want them to know that I have a lot of love to give them too. Although I have to admit there is one cranky woman there that just glares at mom & yells out " I'm Allergic". Mom just smiles & says "Yeah I know you've told me that before - I'm not coming near you!!!" I definitely stay clear of HER.....But I know the others adore me - they're already buzzing about getting some dog treats to share with me for my next visit (since I'm going every week). Mom says when I get my ID, I should be able to go to our local hospital...I don't know if I'm up to two visits a week, but if means I get to go in the car & leave Daisy behind - I'm all for it.

Speaking of Daisy...Mom says she's maturing nicely & maybe this fall she'll enroll her in therapy school. How cool would it be to have TWO therapists in our house sharing the love................That's what its all about - spreading love & joy to those unfortunate enough not to have furbabies full time.

I think all you pooches out there should consider becoming therapists! Its well worth the smiles & pats you receive *grin*

1. I love my mom so much that I have to follow her everywhere including the bathroom. I don't care how many times I have to walk up & down the stairs either.
2. I don't like to play with toys. I'm too mature for THAT!
3. If Daisy starts barking at mom, I try to diffuse the situation by biting her & making her leave mom alone.
4. I sit on the couch every night with mom. I always have a really dopey look on my face and I sit on my butt with my legs out just like a human. (Mom seems to think this is hysterical).
5. I won't sleep in the bed if daddy is there. I only join mom in bed after daddy has gotten up.
6. I will NOT leave my mom in the morning. When daddy gets up on the weekends before her, I stay in the room until she gets up regardless if daddy is yelling to me to go pee or to have my breakfast. I absolutely cannot let mom out of my site.
7. If mom leaves me in the house to go outside, I CRY like a baby because she's outta my site (seriously mom says I sound like a human baby).
