Arrival Story:
We adopted Sadie from the local SPCA. When we brought her home, we realized that she must have lived in an apartment or other small space. She would not bark. In fact she did not bark for a couple of years. And she was a bit hesitant toward us - so we think that someone was mean to her. But she has been a lifelong companion to our son, who loves her dearly.

Bio:
She is part Terrier, and this side of her came out when our son had hamsters. She thought they were just rats, and if any of them escaped, Sadie was hot on their trail.

Please forgive this forgetful human....

To update Sadie's medical issue....
The vet found a small tumor in her leg and drained it. She was pretty weak for a while and stayed at the vets for about 10 days ($$) to get her back on her feet. For a while there it was touch and go.

We were so happy when she was able to come home! She slowly improved and is back to her old self now. We continue to be amazed at her spirit. She is such a sweetheart!

She often has balance issues and her back legs don't support her the way they used to, especially on the tile floor in the kitchen. But she loves cool weather and we have to coax her back into the house. She trots around the backyard like a puppy!!

Rowdy is very protective of her and tries to herd her to the door when she has to go potty. He hovers over her and keeps track of her for us.

Every day with Sadie is a blessing, and we live with the knowledge that one day soon she will cross the Rainbow Bridge where Pandora patiently waits.

Sadie is at the vet's office. She stopped putting weight on her front leg Tuesday and it was swollen. We took her in on Wednesday and it is a tumor, pressing on her tendons. The surgery is tricky and because of her age, she may not be a good candidate for it. The blood work results will come back today.

We are preparing for the worst. We don't think the vet will recommend the surgery because she is like a 95-year old woman. Would you operate??

She has been with us since she was two - adopted when our son was also two. She has been "his" dog for his entire life, so you can imagine how upset he is.

She has been the best dog - ever, but now it's time to say goodbye.
