Likes: Eating and playing! Or playing and eating...Wrestling. Leaning on his people. Watching Animal Planet, dog shows and nature specials.
Pet-Peeves: Not being allowed on the couch in his new home. Having his nails trimmed.
Favorite Toy: "Giant size" nylabones, tennis balls, frisbee. He loves to fetch.
Favorite Food: Anything in front of his nose; he gets Eagle Pack dry food mixed with a little Natural Balance canned food & always wants more.He loves occasional vanilla ice cream and healthy dog biscuits.
Favorite Walk: He loves to go hiking with his Dad in Bridger-Teton National Forest.
Best Tricks: Being incredibly handsome and loving. He makes my heart melt!
Arrival Story: I read about him on one of my rescue email lists. He had been living with a family in SC that allowed their young children to drag him by his ears and step on him. They fed him mac & cheese, which made him sick. When Trey, who was visiting, asked them to be nice to the puppy, the Mom replied they didn't want him & were taking him to a shelter, so it didn't matter. Trey took him to his Mom, Roxanne, (hurray!) thus saving his life.
I volunteered to take him, thinking that he'll mesh with our current 2 dogs, a Boxer and a German Shepherd. Then I found out that the rescue transport I had already volunteered to do was leaving 7 miles from his rescuer's town- this little guy is supposed to be with us, I believe. He arrives on the transport tomorrow afternoon!
Bio: I told our GSD, McKinley and Boxer, Honey (both spayed/neutered) that Chester would be their "love child". He sure looks like it.

Welcome, students! As promised, I am awake and on time today- anything is possible...
Thank you for your understanding and support- you rock! Today I'd like to bark about toys. I love toys- the more the better. Why limit myself to "official" toys that I am given? I am a creative and determined dog- I can find my own toys.
Some things that I or my family has played with:
wood from the woodpile
newspaper- excellent for shredding
blankets and towels from our crates
cardboard & other boxes
sticks from the yard
rocks from the yard (warning: must have a good dentist handy)
chipmunks and voles
grasshoppers (a toy and a snack)
laundry basket contents aka my toybox- socks, underwear, bras
My siblings are the best toys. We wrestle, run, chase and have a total blast!
Snow is also an excellent toy, or aleast a playground- chasing snowballs, snacking on fresh snow, junping off small hills, getting lost (temporarily) in gulleys and snow caves... I should have been a polar bear (sigh)
What about you, students? What do you find to play with that your humans may or may not approve of? What do you suggest we not play with, based on your experience? Josh the Great Pyr livestock guardian says that skunks and porcupines are too ill-tempered to play with- good to know.
I'm in the mood to play now, actually...
