I got Ralphie at a pet store that was being closed down because they had so many lawsuits for selling sick puppies. He had kennel cough, bad ear infections in each ear, his eyes were so brown they were caked with discharge and he didn't get enough food. I consider this a rescue even though I paid for them, I couldn't leave him behind. They closed down 6 months later.
