Harper is like having a 3 year old child. He is just about as smart as they come. We have to talk in code or when he's not around because he's figured out all of the human words for all of the things that he likes. He is very demanding and in constant need of attention. We got him a brother- Olley because he had major issues with separation anxiety, which Weims are prone to. If he wants our attention he grabs objects that he thinks we like and shakes them- such as clothing, mail, dish towels, christmas ornaments, or newspapers (which he shreds). We've found that ignoring this behavior is the best policy and the objects that he grabs usually survive. To keep him and the rest of our pack busy we go to the dog park, take them swimming, for car rides just about everywhere, and hunting in the fall - which is Harper's favorite. Last year, at age 4, Harper was diagnosed w/ severe spondylosis (a degenerative spine/back condition)- with supplements and acupuncture he is now doing great. If your dog has spondylosis come join our "got spondylosis?" group!

Stung on my Bee-hind, ouch!

Yesterday as I was hanging out in the yard minding my own business I was attacked by a bee. I usually try to eat all of the flying insects that I see- including bees, but this one snuck up behind me. And yes, he stung me you know where- on my behind right next to my tail! I didn't yelp because I'm a tough guy- but I wimpered a little and was trying to turn around and see where he was because it really really hurt. Everyone thought I was being silly, but then they noticed the bee still stuck to my bum and mom flicked it off. Wow, thanks mom. I was definately walking funny for awhile and I tried to lick where the bee stung me but I couldn't reach it. I had a lump for a few hours, but now I'm fine. If you see any bees in your yard try to stay away or else make sure you eat them before they sneak up and sting you from behind.

Love those Krispy Treats

Last week was Olley's birthday. So momma made him some Rice Krispy treats and we each got a piece. I love those krispy treats. So when momma and poppa went out to breakfast one morning, I saw the pan of Krispy treats on the counter and took action. It did take some skill to remove the lid and even though it was a glass pan I didn't break it because it fell into the recycling bin. There was about 2/3 of the pan of treats left and I ate them all- I even licked all of the gooey marshmallow stuff from the bottom of the pan. I didn't share with my brothers at all- they were all mine. When momma and poppa got home they said "Harper, what's on your nose?" Well it was one little Rice Krispy stuck to the top of my nose that I couldn't reach with my tongue. That little krispy gave me away and instantly they knew what I had done. Poppa was really mad beacuse he likes Krispy treats too and I didn't save him any. Momma was just happy that I didn't break her pan. Dogs 2 vs. Momma 0
