Our neighbors are involved in the Springer Rescue and they knew how much I loved Newfie's. They mentioned that Lucy a rescued springer had surprised her foster parents with 9 puppies that were fathered by a newfie.
So we contacted the foster family. There were only two puppies left, and they were adorable, but Lo Ryder acted more like the Newfie personality that we were looking for. He had a heart murmur and had to have more tests done before he could be adopted, so we left emptied handed. I went on a vacation and when I returned my neighbor said it looked like the foster family was going to adopt him. Well, as it turned out, they couldn't, so we offered to foster him until he got a health clearance. Well, we fell in love with him the first day we were together. I credit his wonderful personality and love and affection he shows everyday, to his first foster parents, who loved him and took such wonderful care of him during his first four months of puppyhood.
So we are waiting for him to be evaluated by a cardiologist and will adopt him, once his health is determined.
