All those metal staples are finally gone.

Last week my metal staples really started to hurt last week and I was not feeling very well. Mom took me to the vet, and they tried to take them all out: that REALLY hurt and I didn't want to roll over to show them my tummy. It took 3 people to roll me over. I guess my incision had grown shut over some of the staples. Even after they gave me something to put me to sleep, I woke up with 11 staples still inside me. That's where they are going to stay, the vet said.

But now I feel GREAT! I can run and jump around, and I have been able to give the smack-down to Dora in the back yard. I am still getting pills wrapped in cheese, so I don't get any infection while the incision completes healing.

Mom and Dad built a privacy fence all around the back yard, so now I have a big play area to chase Dora around in. She still chews on my ears and neck, but I'm starting to really like her. When she sleeps in her kennel, I sleep on my dog bed in the same room so I can keep an eye on her. This morning she was sleeping on the bed and I thought it looked so comfy that I jumped up there and slept with her.

I also found out the hammock is really fun to sit in with Dad and Dora. I like the rocking back and forth. Life is good!

Mmmm. Pigs ears.

It's been a week since my surgery, and I'm feeling better. I can walk the whole route and I pull mom along just like old times. I get the best food now-- rice and beef with a little kibble mixed in, and cheese too. I'm not sure why I'm getting it, but mom says she's going to keep me on this diet from now on. I still try to sneak food from the puppy's dish, but I know I'm not supposed to so I don't very often and when I hear "no!" I back right off.

Yesterday I got to have my first pig's ear in whole week. Even though it was a little piece of one, I was very happy and wagged a lot.

My stitches itch a lot and I try to lick them to make them feel better, even though I'm not supposed to. I tried to jump from the top of the porch step to the ground and skip a few steps, but that really hurt, so I won't do that again soon. It also hurts to lie down so I have to adjust a lot to find a position that feels ok. But I feel a lot better than last week!

My tummy hurts!

A few nights ago, my tummy started to hurt something awful. I didn't know what to do, so I went up and jumped on mom and dad's bed and woke them up. Then I felt like I needed to throw up but I couldn't, so I tried to poop but I couldn't do that either! I felt awful! Mom and Dad put me in the car and drove me to the doctor's emergency clinic. When I got there, they did a lot of things to me that made me whine, like xray my tummy, and then I went to sleep. When I woke up, I had a big long incision along my stomach, and I was so groggy that I couldn't even keep my tongue in my mouth. When mom and dad saw me again, they both cried and gave me big hugs, I don't know why. Turns out I had a twisted stomach and it was serious!

I really wanted to come home but I had to go to the University Vet Hospital instead. I didn't mind them, they were really nice, but I was so sleepy from the pills they gave me. Finally, mom and dad came and took me home. Thank goodness! Now I'm home, but I don't feel very good and my tummy hurts a lot. I don't move around too much, but I do get fed yummy beef and rice which is nice. I don't even have to come get it, mom puts it down right infront of me.

I can't wait until these metal stitches get taken out, and I feel all better so I can play with my family again.

A lonely weekend.

This weekend was very boring. The humans left me all alone the whole weekend. My only consolation is that the neighbors took me out twice a day and I got to play with Mia. When they got home on Sunday, they were covered with dog smells from about 30 different dogs. I could barely stop sniffing them. They said they had been dogsledding, and that I would make a great dog sled. Well, why didn't they bring me along then? Stupid humans.

Finally it's snowing!

I love the snow, but I'm bored because my humans aren't walking me as often as they usually do. I guess they think it's cold, but they are wimps. I love smelling the tracks and sticking my face in the snow as deep as it will go. What's best is when my girlfriend Mia comes over and we chase each other around. I really show her who's boss in the "around the tree" race. The stupid retarded "dogs" I live with continue to be the bain of my existence. It's a full-time job for me to to enforce the "no food" rule because they jump on the couch when mom and dad are eating pizza or a bowl of cereal at night. Lately I've been feeling like I need lots of cuddling so if I whine enough, they let me sit in the middle of them on the couch with the blanket over me. That is the best place ever... the other night I was happy in my middle spot under the blanket, and one of those dogs actually had the nerve to jump up and lay down right on top of me. Can you believe what I have to put up with? I tell you, it's enough to drive a good dog crazy.

New Fence!

Today was a red-letter day. There was a lot of noise and strange men in my yard, and they were there all day. I didn't really like the sound of the saw, and sometimes I got anxious with all the big pieces of wood they were carrying around. But when they left, my human came over and took me off my leash! For the first time in two years, I ran free! But the fence stopped me, which I was disappointed about. I checked the whole perimeter, but there was no way to get out. Darn. But it's really nice to be able to patrol my property, and a couple of times a squirrel ran thorugh and I chased then right out. I love my new fence.

My humans are putting white paint all over it, which is annoying because when I look through the fence I get white marks on my head. They seem to think it's really funny. Whatever.

It's finally getting cold out.

I'm getting used to my new dog bed. But I'm really excited this week because mom moved a chair in the living room right next to the window so at least I can keep watch during the day at the humans coming and going. It's really the least she can do, since she took away my couch in the back room.

I'm sick of this rain. I haven't been able to play with my true love, Mia, all week. I hope she misses me too. Today it finally seemed cold on my ears when I was put out on my chain. That stupid cat was sleeping in my dog bed again when I came into the bedroom after a long night of keeping watch out the front window. That cat's got some nerve. I guess I should chase him away, but then I'd probably get scolded again. I don't get those cats.
