Arrival Story:
My family and I adopted Sandy in 1991. We had lost our cat and decided to visit the local pound to see if someone had handed him in. There were lots of unwanted puppies and dogs the day we went so I begged my parents to let my brothers and I have a dog. We went back afew days later and it came down to a choice between Sandy and a younger, cuter puppy. We decided to take Sandy because we thought he had such a gentle temperament. It turns out that if we hadn't chosen him he would have been put to sleep that afternoon because the pound doesn't keep animals for more than about 10 days. 13 years on and he is still going!
Bio:
Sandy has always liked his privacy during meal times. Unlike most dogs, he won't touch his food until he knows he isn't being watched. Strange but true!
Sandy had a near death experience last year when he picked up a tick during a visit to Sydney. Thankfully he made it through and apart from a touch of arthritis he is in very good health. He has become slightly grumpy in his old age...
