Likes:
Lots and lots of attention! And, more attention! And, I love to roll over on my back and have a gentle tummy rub!

Pet-Peeves:
Being HOME ALONE when my parents go for a walk or get in the car to go somewhere without me . Also, I hate the vacuum cleaner monster -- but fortunately it does not come out too often at my house.

Favorite Toy:
Anything that "squeaks" and anything that can be "de-stuffed"!

Favorite Food:
I love liver-flavored snacks and whatever my people are eating! (Unfortunately, they do not like to share people food with me!) I love to sit in front of the microwave and listen to popcorn popping.

Favorite Walk:
To the corner of our street -- I like for all the kids in the neigborhood to see me because they always love on me so! If a walk is well-timed, I have found that a cute little doggie like me can get maximum attention.

Best Tricks:
Running the circle in our house--Playing "Run Max Run!"; fetching toys.

Arrival Story:
Max selected us to be his humans when we went to the breeder to pick out a new black & tan female dachshund puppy. Max took one lick and said, "I'm going home with these people!" He jumped and ran circles around us -- He seemed to be saying "Pick me! Pick me! I'm the king of the puppies!" His behavior was cute, but somewhat distracting. I finally asked my sister to play with him because I couldn't study the black & tans I had come to see. Max would not give up. He asked, "Why are you looking at those ugly puppies? Don't you see -- I'm the cute one!" Finally I asked my sister to hold him so he would leave me alone and she said "Maybe he's trying to tell you something." Since I had been looking for a black and tan female for two months, I was not immediately comfortable with such a total change of heart -- so I opted to think about it. Two days later we went back and bought Max. As I picked him up to to take him home my sister said, "Little guy -- You just won the lottery!" I said, "No, I think WE won the lottery." Max has owned us ever since.

Bio:
When we took Max to see Dr. Lisa for his new puppy check-up, he put on quite a show -- just as he had for us the first time we saw him. Dr. Lisa admired him but cautioned that he would need a firm hand because as she put it, "He has a lot of attitude." I said, "Oh, we noticed that right away, but we thought it was all personality." She laughed and said, "Yeah -- We hear that a lot -- A lot of people make that same mistake when they're picking out a puppy."
