Arrival Story:
She was born to my first dog, Frisker. My parents were getting ready to move us from Chicago to Kansas City, and had decided to let me keep one of the puppies. Dorothy's original name was "Dot" for a little white spot on her chest. That became "Dotty" because she was a cute little puppy and needed a cute little name. The way my Dad let me know I could keep on of the puppies was asking me if we wanted to "bring Dorothy back to Kansas". The name just stuck!
Bio:
Dotty was an amazingly loving and lovable dog, who was with us for 17 years - but she was a dense as a stone. The first time she saw a softball, she began barking at it, then ran back behind my legs as if I were to shelter her from them. The same thing happened when my mom got a new robe for Christmas. She went to try it on and when she came back - less than 5 minutes later - Dorothy didn't recognize her and started barking and hiding. Mom felt incredibly insulted years later when, after I'd gone off to Alaska and Seattle for about 5 years, I came home in new clothes, with a different hair colour and style, and a different body size, and as soon as I walked in the house, Dorothy just RAN to me and began jumping on me and licking me - she knew EXACTLY who I was....
