Likes: Chasing after balls, squeaky toys, and anything else that can be tossed!
Pet-Peeves: Being ignored and being left home alone.
Favorite Toy: His small kong and his bones, basically anything he can chew
Favorite Food: PEOPLE FOOD! But we try not to buy into his begging. He wants whatever we have. We used to try and fake him out by pretending to put our food in his bowl but he's getting wise to our tricks. He just wants to do whatever we're doing.
Favorite Walk: Maximus is still agressive towards other dogs (he is afraid of them) so we try and walk him in areas where there are no other dogs. We do take him to obedience training at Petsmart in an effort to socialize him.
Best Tricks: Maximus is a very smart dog. He knows sit, stay, come, leave it, take it...unless there are other dogs around. Then everything goes out the window! Yikes!
Arrival Story: We (my fiance and I) adopted Maximus from a shelter in Princeton New Jersey. He was already three years old and had been given up because he was marking his territory (his previous guardians neglected to have him neutered). We don't knnow how anyone could abandon him--he is just too cute! It seems that he wasn't treated very well in his previous home. He is extremely frightened of strangers and other dogs and it took him a while to trust us and let us pick him up. Now he of course loves us and can't get enough of us. We think he's permanently overjoyed to be shown love and attention. But when we leave him alone he freaks out a little. We think he may have anxiety over being abandoned agian.
