Favorite Toy: Usually a cat toy or his cat Mel Gibson also anything else he can bite small and rub on you.
Favorite Food: Anything with the word TREAT in it.
Favorite Walk: At the lake by the bridge in LaPorte. He usually gets to run loose and play in the water. He went there today.
Best Tricks: High Five, Other Five, and Ten! Also giving good kisses.
Arrival Story: After having a Boxer for 2 years and realizing he was the best dog ever (Indy). We decided we should get another one. We wanted another dog just like Indy. Same color and everything. Then we realized maybe we shouldn't try to duplicate Indy so we went with something totally different. We decided on the puppy with the most white (Indy is mostly dark). And boy is he different from Indy in every way not just his color. He's more wild and energetic unlike his laid back brother Indy. Hobie knows how to get what he wants every time no matter what it is. Hobie is a lot different from Indy which makes them a good team. I'm glad we didn't try to duplicate after all. Instead, these two Boxers compliment each other very well. The good and the bad of both. They're the best brothers and friends ever. I wouldn't trade Hobie for anything. Wild or not we'll take him! He's our spoiled boy and we love him!
Bio: Hobie is a Flashy Fawn Boxer. He now has a scar on his left shoulder from having a lump removed recently. It appeared out of nowhere. We had it removed right away. Luckily, it was non- cancerous. :)
Forums Motto: Treats and squirrels-that's my world!
First of all I want to wish myself a very Happy Birthday at The Rainbow Bridge. I'm gonna figure out how to have at this new place and what a better night than my 10th Birthday?! I would also like to thank all of you for all the kind words you sent my Mama. Thanks for all the Birthday wishes you sent to me at The Rainbow Bridge. And also thank you for all the Rosettes you sent for my Dogster page too! I really appreciate it and so does my family.
My Mama hasn't allowed us much time on Dogster in the past couple years since my brother Indy left for the Rainbow Bridge in 2007. Now that I'm at The Rainbow Bridge too it's really gonna be hard for Mama to come to our pages. Once she hears our music start to play she cries. We don't like our Mama to cry that's for sure. We do miss all our Dogster pals though. Maybe we should just get rid of the music then?!
Mama has decided that as a New Years Resolution she is going to try to make it to Dogster more often and fight through those hard times. We know our Mama loves us so much and wants us to continue our web pages just as we did before. I know you can do it Mama! Stay strong. You can use Dogster as our Memorial. That way we can furever live on in all of Dogsters hearts. You know I would love that! Maybe I could even send virtual kisses with wings to all who come to my page. I just love giving kisses! In fact, that's the first thing I did when I got to The Rainbow Bridge. I gave everydoggie I saw a nice big sloppy Hobie Kiss right on the lips! Indy loved it! He said he missed me so much! We were the best brothers you could ever have. And now we're back together again! I love that big guy!
Anyway, thanks again for everything! I appreciate all your kind gestures. I always did love Dogster. It's my chance to show off a bit to whomever will watch or listen or whatever. Take care pals! Hopefully, I'll be barking again real soon! Oh yeah, Happy 10th Birthday to ME! (Gotta squeeze that in one more time.) Not nobody else.....ME! Oh, and my Auntie Diana too! Love ya!
Angel Kisses To All,
Hobie - Guardian Angel
That's my new title I earned up here. ;)
The road trip is over! I think I'm actually happy about that. It wasn't all that it was barked up to be. It was actually kinda miserable if ya ask me! Mom and Gramma came to visit me last night and brought me a blanket that smelled like home. That was nice. I didn't really realize it was them at first. They said I was kinda just staring at them. I did wag my stub though. But I do that all the time anyway. They didn't stay too long. I was trying to get up to see them so they figured they better leave. I still had IV's hooked up to me and I was a bit bloody. Ewwww!
I'm home now and I'm still feelin' a little droopy. I have to wear one of those crazy collars around my head. Last time I had to wear one of those it was giant and I didn't sit down the entire time I had it on. Indy wouldn't even come anywhere near me. He kept hiding around the corner of the dining room table. Everyone thought it was funny but I was not laughing and neither was Indy. I think he thought I was some kind of space cone-dog head. I was miserable! At least this one is a little smaller so I can at least walk down the hall. Gramma is gonna order me one of those neck brace ones cuz I have to wear this thing for two weeks! Ugh!
Well, I think I might possibly have some good news. Maybe! Ya see, I really won't know officially until Tuesday or Wednesday cuz the Radiologist has to read my CT. However, three of the surgeons looked at my graphs and didn't notice any tumors or disc problems along my spine. So that's the good news. Since I've already had tumors removed before I think Mom was kinda worried that maybe I had another one pushing on my spine or something. The surgeons don't think so but that is not their area of expertise so it's not official. Now, if I don't have a tumor or disc problem it prolly means I have one of the common Boxer problems called Degenerative Mylopothy. I guess it's like having MS in a person. Hopefully though, with the right treatment I won't be getting any worse. Paws crossed!
Also good news....I only had one irregular beat of my heart while I was having all my procedures done. So that's good! One of my pals (Dallas) said I should've let the Doctor know it was prolly the pretty girlie in the other cage next to mine makin' it go pitter patter. She was a cutie! Can you believe I actually had to see a cardiologist?! Mom never would've expected that! She might as well claim me on her insurance. I think I'm turning into a Million Dollar Baby just like Indy. Only I think I'm gonna have to be Gramma's Million Dollar Baby. Gramma gets the bill this time!
I also had a couple danglers (skin tags) removed. Gramma hates my one dangler on my knee. She thinks it's gross. It did hang down kinda far. Don't tell the ladies though. Plus, I'm always licking at it like I snagged it on something. My regular doctor said next time I have to go under for anything just wack it off. So they did! They actually wacked off two of them. Ouch! At least I won't ever snag or scratch it any more.
Mom is gonna take some pictures of me to put on my page. I don't know if I really want her to. I have all kinds of bare patches. I have a giant square one right on my rump. Mom called it my "pig butt" cuz you can see my bare skin like a pig. She told me she was gonna kiss my "pig butt" how nice is that?! She's crazy! Then, I have the one on my leg for the IV. And then the other two where the danglers were removed. One is on my knee and the other right on my butt cheek. How embarrassing! Not pretty at all! Hope the ladies won't be checkin' me out until I'm all haired back.
Well Dogsters...I guess that's about all for now. Thank you to all of you who sent me rosettes wishing me well. I really appreciate them all. You made me smile and wiggle! Keep your paws crossed for me until Tuesday or Wednesday please. I guess my trip wasn't all that bad. I did get another cheezyburger on the ride home. YUM! But, I think Indy enjoyed the road trip more than I did. He got to spend all his time with Mom and Gramma. Except when he was watching over me that is. Thanks big brother Guardian Angel. I love ya man!
Well, it looks like I am not having knee surgery after all. The special doctor told us that my knee does not seem to be the problem here. He thinks it has to do with my spine.
So, first we need to do a CT Scan to take a look at what is exactly goin' on in there. Mom and Gramma went to the hotel and were waiting on the call that everything was okay. Next thing you know...the doctor calls. They started my testing and got to the EKG part. Well, I guess there was a problem. I have a Premature Heartbeat. Apparently that means my heart on occasion will make a couple extra beats that are way outta whack. So to be on the safe side the doctors want me to first have an ultrasound.
The ultrasound doctor isn't in until tomorrow. So, I basically came here today for nothing. And Gramma even cut me off on food and water! That does not make me happy. To top it all off the hotel that Gramma got doesn't allow dogs! Can you believe it! I mean they didn't think I was going to be staying with them but now I would've liked to. Especially since there's a thunderstorm out there and I HATE thunderstorms!
The good news is Mom and Gramma did come back and pick me up for a bit of a day trip. We spent some time at PetSmart shopping around for treats and toys. And yes, you better believe I did get some of those treats. I got a chance to smell lots of new smells and I met tons of doggies in there too. They were having a special grooming sale for Spring so I think all the doggies were out for haircuts or something. It was fun! Plus, they were having training classes too. What a great day for me to go shopping! And then Mom and Gramma also got me a cheeseyburger from Culvers. It was yummy! After not eating all day long it was the best burger ever!
Well, I guess that's about all the news I got for now. I'll try to keep you all updated as things change. Until then...I better get back to my kennel before the doctors notice I'm gone. I don't think they allow us computer access from our kennels. If they do I'm sure it costs way more than my Gramma wants to spend. Gotta run!
Treat Out While You Can -- Hobie
P.S. Today is my big brother and Guardian Angel Indy's Birthday. Mom brought him along with us on the road trip. I'm so happy to have him here. I know everything is gonna be just fine cuz I have the best Guardian Angel on my side. Plus, now Mom and Gramma still have one of us around to protect them in the hotel room. They think they say "No Dogs Allowed" huh?! We'll show them. Indy is sleepin' in the bed with Mom right now! Take that Hyatt! Happy Birthday Indy! I love you brother!
