Surgery scheduled and stuff.

Well, Mom has scheduled my bladder stone removal surgery for March 18. She wanted to wait until after my 8th birthday, so I could celebrate. Though we are all gonna be watchin' my weeder to be sure it doesn't get clogged, of course.

Dr. Klingborg said it would be 1 to 2 days of me being completely contained, then 1 to 2 days of resting and partial containment, then on day 4 and 5, kind of back to normal, but careful.

We are so curious to see if anyone else has had this and what they experienced during recovery. Did they have blood in the urine at first? Did they dribble? We were told I would have to go out to pee every hour and a half or so. If that's the case, I know they wouldn't have taken me out that often at the vet. What would I do there? None of the vets were going to catheterize me. I'm happy about that!

Mom asked Dr. Klingborg's office if she could stay with me while they get me ready for the surgery. They will have to get back to her on that. :-(

I have to go in next Monday or so for my pre blood work.

So, I sure hope that this is gonna be my only bladder surgery and it goes easily. I've never been away from my Mommy. AND they might have to pull a tooth! Gosh, what a day I'mna have. Poor me! BOL! At least I get to have soft food! I loves me some Cottage Cheese and White Rice! :-)

I've got plenty of surgery experience Mickey, but nothing like yours.

Here is what I do know -

Dr. K & his helpers will take such good care of you. And I guarantee you'll get spoiled rotten...as you most definitely deserve. Start praciting batting your eyes...it is completely irresistable to the humans. :-)

Sending lots of love & POTP your way Buggy Boy!

Thanks, Flicka & Muffin! I'll work on those eyes! They haven't been working on getting treats, but maybe I'll get extra love, huh?

I just hope my stitches don't come undone and my guts don't spill out! A pup named Reilly just pawmailed me and told me that's what happened to them! GASP!!!

Mommy accidently saw my insides after my first cancer surgery when my stitches came undone. Please don't worry about it Mickey or give it any thought, it didn't bother me at all. But if freaked the bejeebers out of the world's biggest baby ever...Mommy! (Not everyone can be super brave like us Buggy Boy.)

Dr. Bob patched me right up & sent me on my merry way. And I got even *more* extra attention. I've discovered that when I look hard enough, there's usually an upside to be found! :-)

Mickey,

I hope your surgery went well. I had 9 bladder stones removed a few years ago. It was a tough recovery, but I was much happier and healthier afterwards. The pawrents think I had them awhile before any symptoms, so I was almost a different doggie after surgery.

Please post and let us know how you are doing.

And happy birthday too

Hi, Olive!

My surgery isn't until Monday, but I promise I'll let you all know how I'm doin'. :-)

Doc seems to think it'll be an easy one since the stones are little and none are stuck. I sure hope he's right.
